A list of puns related to "Sadayavarman Sundara Pandyan I"
Hi Everyone, After one year of intense use of Ath-m40x i decided to make a change. Yesterday i bought a new pair of headphone, the Hifiman Sundara. But i'm kind disappointed, they're sound is just good, not exceptional like everyone was talking. they're price is 3 times and half more than Ath-m40x so i thought the sound was atleast 2 times better. Of course the soundstage is better, the distorsion is lower and the bass are less emphasized but i think that all this features are just a thing that all open back headphone had so not a big thing. I wish i making some mistakes on my approach to this cans, what is your opinion guys? (sorry for the bad english, i'm italian)

feeling kinda paranoid about this, that i maybe damaged them
Earlier in February I came across a video from DankPods reviewing the RayCons and as I thought they were shit. I had AirPods so I was sitting high and mighty for about 4 seconds before he slagged them off too. I was deeply offended I forked over over ยฃ100 for these bad boys and they ainโt even good?
Well, a few more videos later and I see him recommend the Samson SR850โs saying theyโre great and cheap so without pondering just how broke I really was as a student (and boy having around ยฃ40 in my bank account spending ยฃ30 on these cans) I went and got them!
They arrived and after a few listens my mind was blown they were so much better than anything I had ever listened to and likewise my love for music went crazy. Recently, however a few good investments this year can ponied me out of the shitter in terms of financial barriers so to reward myself for not starving to death I started thinking about upgrading my set up. I went and bought the Sundaras (ยฃ230 second hand) and got a ZenDac V2 to power it.
Itโs been a week and half since I got it and my god is it good. Itโs really fucking good. The sound is so colourful and wider. Iโm still working out kinks with better ways to consume the media and get every ounce of performance from them but I am well and truly impressed. But thatโs when the issues started happening. I switched back to my Samsonโs to use discord and play games cause theyโre alright for that and I have my brother my old headset and I swear itโs just not the same. Everything sounds so empty on the SR850โs I am generally confused as to why I canโt stand them anymore. I feel like Iโm going to have to use the Sundaraโs for discord and gaming soon but idk how thatโll turn out these Cans are so good they have completely fucked my perception of headphones to the point I donโt wanna use my old ones and my AirPods even for casual stuff haha.
So to summarise, the Sundaraโs are really fucking good.
I am mainly intrested in listening to broad range of songs and for late night movie watching at times. Would the upgrade be significant when coming from the M40x?
ls there any dac you would recommend as I have my eyes on the Zen dac V2 but unfortunately it doesn't have an optical port for movie watching.
Thanks in advance.
I've been vacillating between getting the Sundara or not for about 2 years now. My interest in the headphone was renewed after I got the HE400SE (my first planar) earlier this year. While the HE400SE has grown to become my most used headphones for casual listening, I find myself yearning for another planar; one that (to my ears) will have a better treble response, better tonality/timbre or sounds more natural, and a planar that handles the crescendos and diminuendos (increase and decrease in loudness) in classical music better. Well, I have the Sundara now, and I've listened to them for a couple of days, and can confirm that sound quality-wise, they are indeed pretty good headphones. Make no mistake, the HE400SE are no pushover; they are very capable headphones, but there are lot of things about Sundara that makes them more pleasing to my ears - the way they make the violin sing (to a fault), the way the stage opens up and extends out more, and how it breathes life into most of the music I've listened to thus far. My biggest complain is with the treble department, sometimes the headphones make music glow/sparkle too much. The ideal treble (for me) is somewhere between the HE400SE (too lifeless) and Sundara (too full of life), and to my ears that equates to the HD 800S. I'm glad I got the Sundara, and I think it's a fitting end to this hobby for me (at least the buying of headphones part of it).
The journey (of constantly nagging my wallet for money to buy headphones) started about a decade ago. On my way home after attending a Shostakovich concert, a friend asked me what my thoughts were about the performance (by the University orchestra) and the music (specifically the Symphony No. 10). I enjoyed every bit of it, my desire to re-experience the one-time event made me wonder if there's a way to experience a concert-like feeling by some other means, perhaps via headphones. I asked myself, "Is there an headphone that could reproduce the essence of a (live) performance?" Fast forward till today, the answer is a resounding no. That said, the headphone I have found that has done the most justice to classical music (and music in general) are the HD 800S (the impressions of the headphones that I wrote earlier this year on this subreddit still remain largely true till this day). I've reached a point now where I know what I w

Trying to decide between the Audeze penrose and a set of sundaras. Unfortunately I donโt have a sound card but I do have a pretty nice motherboard. Would I be able to take advantage of the sundaras?
Pretty much exactly what the title says, one of the primary reasons I want to upgrade is to get more ear room, and the shape looks like it would be great and way more comfortable.
Second I would also love better sound quality, so here is my second question; is the Arya worth twice the price of the ananda? Or should I just get the ananda?
So I recently received all my products, Hifiman Sundara, Schiit Modi, and Schiit Heresy. I just want to make sure that I have the setup correctly. So I have a USB cable from PC to Modi usb port. RCA cables from Modi to Magni. AC power from wall to ac port. Is this right ?
I got them new from Amazon, the product description noted that they were the 2020 edition, so that's a good first step.
When I go to AutoEQ and search for Sundara, I see three results that look like they would fit: "HiFiMan Sundara," "HiFiMan Sundara 2020," and "HIFIMAN Sundara (2020 revised earpads)," I don't know which of the three is the correct one to use.
The earpads on my unit are perforated, look to be faux leather on the outside, and velour/velvet on the inside, with a slight narrowing of the pad in the direction of my chin (down and forward.)
Thanks in advance for the help! Have a happy and a merry!
I want to go to Sundara for a weekend with my husband. I have been to many day spas, but they were all Korean and Japanese, and Sundara is so up market I'm not sure what to expect.
Most importantly-bath ritual at Sundara-is it gender separate? Is it butt naked like at the K Spa? Or a swimsuit? I could care less, but my husband will not bathe with strangers naked.
Any other feedback good or bad? It's pretty expensive so I'd like honest feedback before I reserve.
Thanks!
After hesitating to buy these for a long time due to fears about QC issues, I decided to give them a shot thanks to Amazon's return policy. The shipping box and product box arrived in pristine condition. And then I pulled the headphones out and immediately saw these chips in the metal of the left earcup and yoke.
Sorry for the potato quality of these pictures. Lighting is awful in my house and my phone is relatively ancient. https://imgur.com/a/UwZZHKt
Am I overreacting here thinking that I should swap these with a replacement? Is this a common occurrence? I was already on the fence and my very first impression is let down by this $350 product. The sound quality is very nice though even running straight off of my PC since my amp hasn't arrived yet.
edit to add a picture of the shipping box as I received it. I doubt this was a repackage job. https://imgur.com/a/KyH5ohK
Hi all, I am planing on getting the hifiman sundaras and would like to get the best out of them. I know they are picky with power so I am debating between the asgrad with the ES9028 dac module or a modius and magnius stack but I cant decide. The $50 is a bit but if it is worth the price then I am willing to pay for it.
I've read forums online that the Sundaras would scale better with a more powerful amp, tho for my case it may be a long time before I get a new one...
The HD560s have been on my radar since they are said to have similar tuning? tho i might be wrong on this. I just really need a headphone that would be suitable for this amplifier, I was hoping it would be enough to drive the Sundaras, and I wont be missing out as much, if I had a more powerful amplifier.
If ever I go with the 560s, I'll probably buy an IEM to go with it in case I wanted to listen to details.
Hope I could get you insights on this, Thank you so much in advance!
Iโve noticed a buildup of dandruff and dust in the grills. How can I clean the grills without damaging the exterior?
I have the Scarlett 6i6 Interface 2nd Gen that pushes up to 250 Impedance and works the Sundara's just fine BUT when I use them on my phone they seem to sound better even though I can't push them as loud. Like the bass sounds better, and it doesn't sound as harsh. Any ideas why this might be? Could it be interface distortion? Not having a sound card on my PC besides my Interface? I'm genuinely curious. I want to fix this! Also, I really want it to be an audio interface I use because I am soon buying a good microphone. Ask me anything! Any help appreciated.
After using an akg k712pro for a while with my fiio k5 pro and i wanted to upgrade to something either more bassy/warmer or just better in general
i've got my eyes on both of these but i don't know which one would be better, i know the 99 classics would definitely bring a lot more bass (maybe even too much ?) and i'm afraid it'll be step back for the rest (detail/soundstage/imaging)
The sundaras on the other hand will be a small step up in the bass department, but i don't know if the rest is gonnna be that much better, and worth the upgrade
the fact they are open back or closed back doesn't really matter as i'd only use them at home for music, and general use
(open back flair because there isn't a general headphone flair)
I just got the Sundara's and I'm connecting them straight to my motherboard but I have to have the volume on at least 90% to hear music at an average volume for me. Does this mean I need an amp/dac?
Motherboard: ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero
I have a pair of Sundara on test with a week left to either keep or return. I am fairly new to openbacks and also have the 6xx and shp9600's. The Sundaras after adjusting from my 6xx's are great but the Verums seem to be universally preferred to Sundaras in written and youtube reviews although most extoll how great the Sundaras are as well, a view I know not all people share.
my sources tend to to be HD from Amazon and Apple often 24/41 occasionally higher, I listen to a range of music with probably the least listened to being classic rock and metal of various flavours.
Could I have some views just on the headphones, I am aware of the controversy around Igor their creator and will add that seperatly into my final hopefully helped by you all, decision.
Thanks everyone I'm starting to get into a mental Impas on this one, I shouldnt/won't buy both at the same time so there can be only one ๐
I know that the Arya gets recommended over the Ananda, both having an interesting ear hugging design, but I'm discouraged that the Arya is too trebley.
Is it true that planars have some of the best soundstage? I have seen it listed on rtings, like the top 10-20 best soundstage headphones were planars. Can I trust rtings? Also if that was about Passive Soundstage then what is the other measurement of soundstage (I think it was Virtual) that was being measured on that website? What's the difference?
Also what is estat speed and timbre?
What is this talk I have seen that planars can be faster sounding (catching up to the rhythm of the music I presume) than dynamic design headphones? I have seen both mentioned as being better than the other, so I don't know.
The other thing I have seen on rtings which baffles me is how come some headphones that I looked at have a V shape or Harman tuning but it scores high on their scale of "Neutral Sound". Why is that?
Finally is resolving ability the headphones' capability of imaging/ soundstage? Or is it about how well is it suited for critical listening?
Anyway thank you people for being nice and helpful!
My current amp/dac is the Schiit Fulla 3, I got it for my 58x and k371 because it's cheap and has a mic port. I want to get the 2020 Sundaras as my first planar magnetic headphone, but I'm not sure if my fulla 3 will do it justice. Thanks!
