Title. I know, I know. She shouldn't of gotten this pup from a "backyard" breeder in the first place. But, the damage has been done. She got it from a breeder she found on Craigslist, that had papers and records of vax/ worm treatment, and claimed the puppy was in good health with strong pure genetics. Well, sister took this "healthy" pup home to her other dog, and into the vet for his first visit, turns out he has a plethora of medical conditions. After a consult and a stool sample, they noted: severely underweight, hookworms, roundworms, giardia, a yeast infection in the ears, and a tooth growing improperly. I really don't know about any of this, if it's a big deal at all, if she overpaid for pup, etc.
Yes, it's probably her fault in the first place, but all of this has really dampened the new puppy experience for sis. What should my sister do?
-Go back to the breeder and demand money for treatment
-Forget the breeder and take care of pup
-Get rid of pup if she can't afford to properly care for it???
Idk???
Edit: She's in a state with no pet lemon laws, if this is even drastic enough to think about that? Idk?
I got roundworms from my vet tech job. I saw them in my stool and went to the dr and am now being treated for a really bad roundworm infection. Has anyone else ever got worms? How did you deal with this? I feel so alone and embarrassed.
A stray cat has been living outside our house since this past summer. We decided to take her in to keep her from freezing. She threw up a worm on her first night in. We did some research and discovered it was a roundworm. We have been treating her with a natural dewormer 3x per day. Itβs day 4 of her being inside and she has only pooped once this entire time.
Itβs been two days since she pooped. We were only feeding her wet food, but I bought her a dry food with probiotics in it. She had that food twice today to try and help the situation.
Any advice beyond a vet visit?

Update: I gave her some coconut oil as suggested by @sunshineandhomicide and it worked almost instantly!
If I stepped in raccoon poop outdoors, didn't realize it, and then walked all over the house, do I need to do a deep steam cleaning and mopping of my entire house? I've always been passionate about raccoons and I've seen a lot of people had them as pets online and wanted to raise one as my own. [EDIT: I know, raising raccoons as pets is a horrible and bad idea... That's the only reason why I haven't done it. Although I have thought about becoming a wildlife rehabber one day to work with raccoons.] I've seen raccoons from time to time around here and I know what raccoon poop looks like, and I saw some where I had been walking earlier.
Now I'm a bit unsure if I stepped in it or not, although my shoe doesn't look super dirty, but I've also walked through some puddles since then outside from the rain that might have washed a bit of it off...
There isn't really any visible poop that has come off of it anywhere in the house, but I know for certain that I could have easily stepped in this exact spot.
I wasn't concerned until I read about baylisascaris and found out it's like the most unbelievably horrific parasite in history... I don't even own a steam cleaner so I really don't know what to do in the meantime until I can get one. Please give me some advice.

I know my puppy has roundworms and im taking him to the vet to get some medicine. I let him sleep in my bed (probably not smart) he didnt poop or pee but when i woke up there were these sesame seed looking things on the fresh towel amd blanket i laid down for him. Can them spread round worm eggs without pooping?
I fed my dog a whole prey raw chicken. I found that it had roundworm after my dog ate it. It had been frozen for 3 weeks prior. He ate nearly everything but the gut pile.
Is there any risk to my dog?

Shelter dog: German Shepherd (mutt) Approx. 1-2 years old Intact Male 62 lbs bloody stool resulting in fecal test that revealed roundworms⦠treatment for roundworms has been given but he is not fully finished. he is in the final stages of treatment, i believe. He does take time to poop, has been constipated lately, and soft stool.
My dog: Labrador Retriever (purebred) 9 years old Spayed female approx. 75 pounds (well fed, lol) No symptoms other than occasional throwing up as she is a lab with common sensitive stomach issues
Hi! I work at an animal shelter/hospital/boarding. (northeast us) I was wondering about the transmission of roundworms from a shelter dog coming home to my personal dog. I took the shepherd to the beach, in my car, and picked up his poop with a baggie. I did not have immediate access to wash my hands, but did so when I brought him back to the shelter. I then went home to my dog, who I pet and cuddled. German shepard stepped in his own poop (clever), and then on my seats. Paws did go in water at beach⦠Poop bag was in my bag for awhile and was in my house for a minute. Poop bag thrown out, backpack hung up.
What are the chances I gave myself or my dog roundworm? Should i be using a specific cleaner to kill any chance of roundworm? What do I do? I donβt want my old dog getting sickβ¦ she experiences the symptoms of roundworm often because she has a sensitive stomach lol (throw up, chubby belly, etc.)
Hey all, basically βadoptedβ an overweight outdoor cat thatβs super friendly a couple weeks ago and named him hamburger. I got him fixed, vaxxed, on a diet, and on flea meds, but this morning I stepped in a small pile of hairball/vomit. When I looked closer, I noticed a single roundworm. Now Iβm paranoid because he licked my face last night, sleeps at the foot of my bed where I lay to pet him sometimes, and even worse everywhereβs out of stock of roundworm meds and I have a habit of biting my nails. Am I about to get roundworms?! Is he gonna be okay if I canβt get him meds or to a vet for a little bit? Iβm worried and stressed

I already gave her a dewormer and we're gonna go to the vet in a few days. (I called her and she said that we have to wait for a few days to see is the medication is working before visiting her). Every time she poops she poops out 1-2 dead worms. Is the dewormer working? I thought that she was gonna poop out like a ton of them. Where should she sleep during this time? I don't have a crate so she sleeps on a pillow. I washed it. Should she keep sleeping on it?
So, on monday, me and my partner got a kitten from a farm. They told us that the kitten would be dewormed etc, and since we both didnβt have too much experience, we believed her, because she seemed really trustworthy.
So, kitten is in our small apartment, roams around everywhere, lays on our bed etc. (I know now, that it might have been a bad idea but well, mistakes were made).
On wednesday, I spotted fleas on her. Went to the wet. Fleameds were applied, given another worm med on friday aswell and cleaned the whole apartment, washed everything etc. Saturday, spotted kitten has roundworms. So, deep cleaned everything again. kitten is now not allowed in the sleeping area anymore.
Also, ofcourse, kitten will be taken to the vet tomorrow asap and we really try our best to make him feel as comfortable as possible.
But Iβm extremely OCD and scared of germs. I always washed my hands throughout tho, but I mean, she did roam and sleep on our beds etc.
How high is the chance of me or my partner getting the worms? The internet, as usual, is telling us we will die tomorrow lol.
tl:dr; Newely gotten kitten has roundworms, Iβm phobic of germs and am super scared to might have caught it since kitten roamed around the entire apartment.
Hello there. My bunny had her poop tested at the vet and the results came out to be coccidiosis, pinworms, and roundworms. She's receiving medications for it at the moment. But I'd just like to ask if anybody had the same experience with this? How do I disinfect the place? How do I make sure that she doesn't reinfect herself? She is a free roamed bunny so it would honestly be quite hard to clean my place. I would prefer not to put her in her cage since it stresses hee out further.
He was fleaed a week ago so they should all be dead if he was to vomit one. Also, I think he ate one or two because there were two piles of vomit and only one was still sitting there so he ate the other pile
Our vet isnβt open and my parents say that worms are normal for puppies as some are born with them. I know they are born with them (sometimes) but he has to have a lot of worms to vomit one alive
So our cat just threw up a single roundworm. We'll be heading to the pharmacy as soon as it opens. What are your experiences treating cat with roundworms? We got our little girl a couple of months ago and she won't let us hold her yet so it might be challenging to feed her the medicine. It seems that roundworms are quite common among cats so we try not to worry too much. We live in the city and she stays indoors so we are wondering how did she get the infection.
Baby squirrel was orphaned near my home with the mother in the road. Baby is 4 weeks old and quite uncoordinated, has minor head tilt. I have had him on puppy milk for 4days now.
How concerned about racoons roundworms should I be and is there any way to check? Do you know if I can check its feces for this? Or perhaps look using a flashlight in it's eyes?

I know most felines will get worms after their birth from their mothers milk, especially if they are stray, I took care of all the cats fleas and ticks, but about 10 days after I had the cat it threw up what I expect to be roundworms (I already bought roundworm medicine after I saw the throwup). My concern is with amount of worms that came up. Not sure if I should be concerned now that I believe I am treating him for the right type of worm, but my main worry is if the amount of worms is alarming. P. S. - the cat is otherwise healthy from the looks of it. He eats and drinks when I put out food, and loves to be pet/purrs. Poops and pees fine (no worms in the stool). I will also be taking him to the vet next month as there is a wait at all my local vets.
Iβm taking my cats to the vet again tomorrow for roundworms. They had them at the beginning of June & I treated them with two separate rounds of medication. I dumped and cleaned their litter boxes after the treatment. Theyβre both indoor cats, but I live on the bottom floor. I havenβt found rodents & the only thing I can think of them getting it from is eating bugs. After a few months with no signs of worms, I found worms in their vomit today. Iβm at a loss with how to prevent this in the future & wondering if anyone else has any insight? I donβt know how they could get them again since they donβt step foot outside & Iβve given them medication once already

Basically the title. I foster-to-adopted my sweet boy back in May (my first cat!) and he arrived with a totally clean bill of health. The foster org wasnβt sure how long heβd been on the street before they scooped him up; he was very socialized so they think he might have been dumped, but no way of really knowing.
Tonight, I was filming a silly video of him (as one does) when I noticed a thin, white spaghetti-looking thing squirming around in his butthole. BLEGHHHH! Before making a beeline for the shower, I texted my foster org contact who thinks itβs likely roundwormβ¦and now Iβm freaking out.
Heβs going to bring me some dewormer (both for tapeworm and roundworms) tomorrow morning, but in the meantime, Iβm sitting here riddled with anxiety. Do I need to stay up late and clean all the surfaces/wash all the fabrics in my apartment? Should I clean out his litter tonight, or wait til he takes the first round of meds in the morning? Is this something he might have picked up on the street ages ago thatβs lay dormant til now, or should I be searching my place for possible infection sources? Should we isolate him until then? Ahh so many questions, so few clear answers online.
Iβm hesitant to even sleep in my bed tonight since he usually sleeps on the end of it. Iβm a bit of a germaphobe and terrified of getting wormsβ¦I guess Iβm just looking for guidance on what to do tonight. My poor boy! Heβs not showing symptoms or signs of discomfort, but we are probably both having a rough night. :(((

Just found out my 4 month old lab puppy has roundworm. My poor baby has been vomiting and having diarrhea, quite a bit of it in my yard the last few days. Is it okay to just clean the yard by picking up any visible...stuff...or is there anything else I need to do? Any tips??
