A list of puns related to "Rickenbacker"
I want to buy a bass guitar of my own and I love the look of the 4003, are They worth it?
The metal things that go over the bottom pickup. I want to put one on my p bass
So, Iβm about to start a new job that pays much better than my old one, and the first major purchase I make (after paying rent and building up savings) is probably going to be a new bass. By the title, you can probably see what style of music Iβm playing.
I already have an Ignition HΓΆfner 500/1 strung with Labella tapewounds that I absolutely love, but itβs falling apart, and Iβve already had the electronics fixed a number of times. I love the sound and feel of it, and I think an upgrade to a German made HΓΆfner might be warranted.
However, Iβve always been obsessed with the Rickenbacker, specifically the 4003s (in case you were wondering, in Fireglo). I built a copy of a Rick but itβs extremely crude, and if I got a real Rick, Iβd probably put the horseshoe bridge pickup that I used from the build in this one.
Does anyone have experience with one or both of these basses and can maybe point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!
I'm a man who knows what I like. Making difficult decisions has always come easy for me. That said, I'm planning to sell my nearly untouched Fender Elite V, and buy something else. These two basses couldn't be more different, and I just can't decide what route to go. I've owned several Carvins, and they are my favorite manufacturer, but I haven't played anything made by them since Kiesel took over production. Getting a headless bass may, or may not be fun though; never owned one. Rics, of course, are classic. They look and sound great, and I'd like one in my line-up, but the lack of any custom options makes it tough to be too excited about one. Any experience and/or advice would appreciated. ALSO, I'm open to suggestions from other bass manufacturers if you think a whole different route is a better idea. Budget $2500 max.
Title says it all. I want mostly cons since the main pro is the beautiful tone.
Why do ricks keep going up in price? The going price years ago for a rick 4003 on the second hand market was Β£1300. This was the going price consistently and I think it was for years.
I had a google on the second hand market for the first time in a couple of years and the rough going price is 1800/2000.
Whatβs going on? Is it simply a case of people chancing their arm and everyone else following suit? Or is there actually a reason for the increase. Is it going to be Β£2300 in a few years. Is now a good time to sell? Will banks start offering rickenbacker mortgages? When will it end.
Was it that the sound wasnβt full enough or some other technical reason? Or, was it a marketing thing?
Thinking about trying out LaBella 760fs on my ric for a McCartney type tone. Anyone ever tried these or have any other reccomendations?
I'm wondering if it would be possible to mod my Gretsch hollow body to use an old Rickenbacker toaster pickup on the neck. Sadly I don't have the money to afford an AUTHENTIC Rickenbacker, but I've always admired the high gain toasters. Anyone know if this a compatible mod for a Gretsch?
I can't can't the delicacy of tone that Marc seems to get.... I have a velocity sensitive keyboard, so that's not the issue. I don't expect to be able to play 1/100th as good as Marc, but I don't know how he manages to get such a good dynamic range from this plug in...
Thanks in advance!
I've been wondering for awhile now.. Why is it that Rickenbackers are almost always listed on instruments websites as "call for price"? There are plenty of pieces of equipment that are both higher and lower prices than any Rick.
Is there some kind of specific reason for this?
Hello everyone,
For context, my dream guitar is a Rickenbacker 330 (preferably in either jetglo, mapleglo, or the matte black) and I have accordingly been saving up for one, but I have had one lingering question. What are the necks like on different years? I've heard some years had thick, round necks (which I like), while others had thin, flat necks (which I generally don't care for).
I'm not too picky as far as neck thickness goes, just as long as it is at least a rounder profile, but I just would like some insight on what kind of necks 330's have and what years to look for.
Thanks!
