[Rich Gannon] As a game analyst who covers all 32 teams and works with QBs at all levels, I think it’s important for everyone to realize that every time I make a general comment about QB play I’m not referring to the current Raiders QB. Thanks and happy holidays! twitter.com/richgannon12/…

Can Someone Explain Rich Gannon

I’m a avid NFL fan. I know my history fairly well. I’m only 22 so you’ll have to forgive me not knowing some things but someone explain Rich Gannon and why I rarely hear him mentioned?

I saw some stat about MVPs over the last 20 years and saw his name pop up and never realized he won a MVP. But looking into his career/numbers...like what happened?

Looking at his career and knowing nothing/without having any context I’m guessing he flamed out in Minny, flames out in KC, played decent/well in Oakland then bursted on the scene with a MVP and retired two seasons later!?!?!

Just what was his career, it seems bizarre.

The last starting quarterback to represent the AFC in the Superbowl not named Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger or Flacco was Rich Gannon in 2002

Brady (8 appearances), Manning (4), Roethlisberger (3) and Flacco (1) account for all of the AFC's starting quarterback appearances over the last 16 seasons. Since then, there have been 14 different starting quarterbacks for the NFC, and only 2 quarterbacks (Eli Manning and Russell Wilson) have appeared more than once.

Edit: Brady is at 8, thanks u/Standing8Count

I've been using Marino since I bought the game a few weeks back, but as my ELO has gone up, I really need an upgrade at QB. Does Gannon release the ball well and is he decently mobile? I know his speed is okay, but last year speed didn't matter on a QB behind the line.
