A list of puns related to "Rear Naked Choke"
An example of the position Iβm talking about is in the third round Poirier vs Oliveira fight.
Letβs say Poirier went to the center of the cage tucked his head, jumped/rolled and drove Oliveiraβs head into the mat to break the hold would this be considered illegal?
If not why donβt we see this defense more often?
If Iβm lucky itβll be a dirt nap lol.
Anyways, do you think a ju jitsu dojo would hold a private 15 or 30 minute lesson teaching her how to do so safely? Or will they laugh me out of the place if I try to arrange it? Sort of a 1 time experience Iβm looking for. And regardless if I end up hard at the end of the lesson it isnβt a sexual thing so they shouldnβt be too opposed to it, huh?

So I have been in a lot of fights in my life and have found myself in a rear naked choke a bunch of times. It was frustrating to the point where I spent 10 years developing a technique to counter it. You simply go limp in your airway and veins to allow air and blood to flow freely. Now it takes some time to master but once you do it its a game changer.
A lot of times when I get to back mount and go for the rear naked choke, I end up finishing people not so much with the choke but more with a crank on the jaw, or sometimes the neck if they turn their chin to the side. I try not to go for this, but I often end up there because people try to block the choke with their chin. I know in competition these are perfectly valid submissions, but what's the general etiquette here when rolling in the gym with training partners? I always apply the pressure slowly to give the person ample opportunity to tap before getting hurt. Is it ok to finish someone with a crank on the jaw if they are trying to use their chin to block the choke, and you just can't get under the chin? Or am I just supposed to keep trying to get under the chin?
Initially I learned the rear naked choke is applied best when you pull your shoulders back and scissor your elbows on top of each other, but that seems really exhausting in my case. It will get the job done but it exhausts more than the new method I perform, which is connecting everything tight, pulling the shoulders back and then pulling my elbows away from each other like I'm trying to create a circular motion, pushing on the back of their head. What do you guys think about that?
Your attackers hands are still free to access the knife in his pocket and slash you all over.
I have heard that one should not cross ones legs while performing a rear naked choke due to the opponent being able to somehow break your leg. There are some horrible videos on YT with peoples legs snapping. But still I see high level UFC fighters do this all the time, so I guess my question is, why do they do it? Is there like a cue that these fighters know of, that signals for them to uncross their legs?
Edit: By legs I mean ankles :)
