Right around Y2K, I received a promotional "top 40" sort of album with the purchase of some clothes. My memory says it was jeans from a big box store in the mall and I think it may have actually come with woman's clothing that my mom bought and then gave me the disc.
I'm fairly certain the album had purple/blue and orange on the cover. I think there was a silhouette of a person's head in the center of the cover art maybe wearing headphones. I'm pretty sure it had one or both of Filter's songs "Take a Picture" and "Hey Man Nice Shot".
I want to start by clarifying that I'm asking about this here because it appears to be more active than the Cloverfield subreddit.
I was at Goodwill just now and recognized "Rob's Going to Japan Party Mix!" On the spine of a CD on their media shelf and sure enough it's a Cloverfield promo CD made to look like an actual handmade CD-R and case. The outside had no branding or trademarks of any kind. The insert just has the track list and a Bad Robot logo, Paramount logo, copyright and "Promotional Copy - Not for Resale".
According to Wikipedia a "Rob's Party Mix!" was packed in with special edition copies of Cloverfield in Canadian Walmarts but the name is different and I don't see any kind of Wal Mart branding. Was there another source or is it still the same thing?
It was a pretty fun surprise to find. Didn't realize there was technically a soundtrack release.
Might be a difference in the sand. One of the sand lots must have had some nutrients.

Ive been trying to find a way to locate a promotional mix tape I received from a skate shop back in the 90s, I remember a few songs, some of the artists became rather famous like Grand Puba, his song "2000" is one I remember from the tape. Ive searched lyrics I remember with not help, Ive looked through Grand pubas discography looking for clues that he might have released a single on a promotional mix. I just don't know where else to look.
I've been mixing for about 2 years now and I feel like I'm at a point where I'm fairly confident in my abilities. I also have a few self-released tunes coming out now (I've been producing even longer) and I feel like I'm at a point where I'm ready to take that next step. Does anyone have suggestions of how/where/who to contact?
p.s. I'm London based but can travel easily
