I wonder how mixing and diluting melange changes the high. Spice coffee is a thing, and spice beer appears to be more or less similar to alcohol, possibly with some MDMA like effects. It's interesting to contemplate.

I was ill sometime during the October release of the 2021 film, and came across Dune on HBO looking for anything I could watch and likely/hopefully fall asleep to. And I did about halfway through, but I’ll blame that on the cough syrup I had ingested earlier that morning. After waking up and remembering possibly 1/3rd of the film, I realized I’d watched something beautiful and had to see it through to the end. I watched it twice, literally in succession that afternoon. The movie is brilliantly shot, but the story and characters are what really made it for me and I had to know more about this “Dune” which I had possibly heard of before the film, but honestly thought was a video game adaptation or something.

I’m not an avid reader… maybe read one to two books a year and they’re generally along the lines of a Ludlum spy novel. Since watching the Dune film I’ve found myself on this thread and in the Dune wiki learning about the lore up to the point where the film ends. It became clear that I needed to read these books so I picked up the set yesterday and I cannot put the first one down. Part of the reason for writing this is I came across an article that basically said Dune is a chore to read. I’m only 200ish pages in so far, and it’s been an absolute delight to read. I can’t put it down.

To celebrate the sci-fi movie Dune (2021) I minted the this token a while ago for a project I had in mind, but now I'm just going to give it away to those that want it. I've had an extensive collection of essential oils for years, the new movie coming out and reading the whole Dune series again inspired me to start work on a spice melange blend to wear. I ordered an essential oil diffuser pendant to wear it in.

Every time a character has noted the smell or taste of spice melange, it's 'cinnamon'. I love the smell of cinnamon, but just plain cinnamon is kind of linear, I wanted to flesh it out just a little.

So far the blend is three different types of cinnamon; cinnamon bark, cinnamon leaf and cassia. This is the majority of the blend so far. Then I added one drop each of clove, cardamom, black pepper, ginger and nutmeg. One drop of benzoin (sort of like vanilla) to sweeten it just a bit.

The blend was all top and middle and no bottom though. I've been thinking for a couple days what I could use that wouldn't take it too far out of the realm of a spice scent from a desert. Frankincense! The boswellia tree grows in desert areas in the Middle East, frankincense is a resin from the tree and is a bottom note. Added one drop of that.

It still needed one more bottom note so I got out the bottle of patchouli I bought at a festival in 1999 and have been hoarding ever since, it's never been opened. New patchouli oil can be quite sharp and well, not all that pleasant. As patchouli ages it gets softer and rounder. This patchouli was good when I got it and I got it specifically to age. I finally got the bottle open, it was glued shut. Aged patchouli is like molasses almost, very thick and sticky. I added one drop to my blend and it was the perfect thing.

Now to let it sit for a few weeks and see if it needs tweaking in one direction or another. Smells very good though. It smells mostly of cinnamon, but fuller. Richer.

Melange is pretty useless, because it doesn't scry "when(ever) you shuffle" but after you shuffle and after you draw cards from the shuffle.

If Melange actually scried when you shuffled, before you drew your cards, it would be worth buying. Especially if it scried at the start of the battle, the first step of which is shuffling your deck. Heck, in that case it might even be overpowered.

Utility: Spice Melange gives you long life, prescience, and wicked blue eyes, but other than that, it has no use right now. This is for fun, and for the Dune fans. If an ooze of highly consentrated melange comes out when a sandtrout is squeezed, why arent they just farmed instead of harvesting the melange under risk of contact with sandworms?

Isn't a dry climate enough for the sandtrouts? Kill the worms with e.g. water from an asteroid and isolate some sandtrout in a dry controlled environment. Terraform Arrakis.

What do you put in it? How much does it fit? Do you like it?

I’ve seen videos where it looks a little small so I’d love to know what everyone thinks! I’m hoping to store my two unhides in there. Would they fit?
