A list of puns related to "Pleuritic Chest Pain"
.
Someone please help me to explain the mechanism of these signs in PE, would appreciate it a lot
Can someone explain why in pericarditis, the friction rub is best heard whilst the patient is leaning forward?
And why pleuritic chest pain (which is also seen in pericarditis) is relieved when the patient is leaning forward?
Hello friends, my health is not good, and I'm choosing to do a sober October to give my lungs a break. I don't smoke much, maybe smoke a little bud once a week and vape once a week, but I think I need to cut out everything that's not helping my lungs right now even the small amount of smoking and vaping.
Basically, I live in the west coast, and we have had varying levels of poor air quality for around a month and a half now. It's fucking with my throat, my allergies, and now I am having these scary sharp pains in my chest that cause me to struggle to take a deep breath. I just got off the phone with my doctor and he said it is pleuritic chest pain, inflamation in the tissues that line my lungs and chest cavity, almost definitely caused by extended exposure to bad air.
I want to give my poor body every chance at health I can, so I'm buying a humidifier, taking up meditation again, and, for now, taking a break from all smoke/vape for at least a month.
Anyone else want to do a sober October? It's not too late to start!
1.) use stethoscope designated for that client only.
2.) wear sterile gloves when inserting a peripheral venous access device.
3.) assign the client to a private room with monitored negative air pressure
4.) place a box of surgical masks inside the clients room
What even is a peripheral venous access device? That's not a regular IV that nurses insert right? That's the thing that doctors insert with the triple lumen cathether and it's a sterile procedure regardless, right? I'm eliminating 4 because surgical masks would be placed outside the room. 1 is a maybe and 3 is a maybe but seems extreme. If it said droplet precautions, I'd put that immediately but i'm not sure here.
Hey y'all,
9 months into a diagnosis hell here. A doc has said pleurisy. Some symptoms match, some don't. The number one symptom that started this whole thing off was a long term chest pain surrounding my lungs. This pain is non restrictive and non obstructive. It varies day to day but the more I breathe the more it hurts. It does not seem to be centered in the breastbone like in costochondritis, but sound more like pleurisy. My pleura isn't overly inflamed though.
This has been constant for 9 months. From what I've read this doesn't seem consistent with fibro? Are there any of y'all out there with similar symptoms?

Help, I can't find it through SciHub. I think it's in Clinical Key but I don't have acces to their database.
Hi there. I tested positive for Covid on 12/31, woke up on the new year 1/1 with a myriad of symptoms. I'm reporting from an emergency room bed. For the record, I am not vaccinated, but am considering it once I'm better since natural immunity won't last forever. We'll see where I land.
I went to urgent Care yesterday because people were recommending online that if you're covid positive with the symptoms in the title, you should get seen by a doctor. I'm so thankful that I didn't wait because my worst nightmare came true: I have several blood clots in one of my lungs. Fuck.
If I didn't get treatment ASAP, this has a good chance of being fatal. I cried a lot yesterday and I just wanted to reiterate the message that helped me: if you have shortness of breath, chest pain, or chest pressure while you have Covid, GO TO THE DOCTOR!
They started me on blood thinners last night around 6:42pm. I'm going to be on blood thinners at least 3-6 months after this βΉοΈ. This was one of the scariest two days of my life and will likely be a scary few months.
If this can help just one person not ignore their symptoms, then I'll be happy. Stay safe and healthy out there.
Edit: I meant to go into what happened at urgent care and how I ended up here. They did blood tests and one of my tests had an indicator, I think it was called D-Dimer, it was elevated over normal but only slightly. But because it was elevated, they had me to a chest x-ray and a CT scan. Thankfully they had all of the equipment at this location. Urgent Care then sent me to the emergency room I'm at now a little down south where they triaged me for about 2 hours or so and then more blood tests, the blood thinners, and then a follow-up blood test around 4:42 a.m. I'm not feeling much better yet, and hopefully I have no complications and can go home today.
Edit 2: My symptoms for the first 5 days were the normal cough, phlegm, fever, aches, nausea. Everything went away except for my cough. And then the night of the ninth day is when I started feeling shortness of breath and a little chest pressure. I woke up with the same shortness of breath and chest pressure and was recommended by my urgent care to come in and be seen.
Edit 3: I have no signs of pneumonia. Just spoke with the doc.
Edit 4: I got released with blood thinner injections, then blood thinning pills once injections are done. Gonna be looking for info on blood clots, how to heal and prevent. Thanks for stopping by. Glad I got to share this. H

You found this because you are worrying and searching for symptoms and other people in the same boat, you will be ok!! Even if it doesnβt feel like it ! All the things your are worried about say here and get some clarity.
30 yo F, healthy. I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine Friday evening. Next day I woke up with mild chest pain/tightness/discomfort. Especially noticeable when I take deep breaths. This morning I decided to go to urgent care. EKG and chest X-ray were both normal so they sent me home and just told me to monitor. Anyone else have a similar experience right after their first dose?
Edit: Thank you for all of the replies. Iβm hoping this is just a minor side effect and will get better with time. Same goes for everyone currently experiencing the same thing. Today is day 3 and the chest pain has not subsided. I plan on following up with my GP to get a cardiologist referral.
I'm sorry if this has already been posted but I couldn't find it, if so I'll delete it.

But roughly translated:
"It became a scary game to watch and Victor was very shook-up afterwards. He had a lot of tests yesterday (the 12th) and has a heart monitor now for 48 hours to make sure everything is OK. Life really stops when something like this happens and you feel grateful for everything. Very unpleasant, especially when I couldn't reach him like I usually can. It was 15 long minutes before I got hold of someone on the team who updated me. Luckily, everything seems to be okay and we are awaiting the last tests that are being finished tomorrow (today, the 14th). So we just spent the day home and resting. The plan of doing some Christmas baking with our friends got cancelled but we baked by ourselves instead and that was obviously also very cozy."
So I got my 1st/2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine in May/June 2021. Everything felt fine after my 2nd dose. A few months later in October I experienced a couple days of constant heart palpitations. After the 2nd straight day of this I went to the hospital at the advice of my local telehealth service. Blood work came back fine and the doctor caught the palpitations on the ECG but said they would go away in a few days (which they did, for a short while). Fast forward to today, and I've been experiencing heart palpitations almost daily since November. Now sometimes I also feel some chest and arm pain. Went back to the hospital in December and the doctor said everything was fine again. I noticed that now the palpitations mostly happen at night when I'm sitting or lying down in bed. I tried taking magnesium supplements as some suggested in this sub but so far they have been ineffective. I have an appointment with a cardiologist in 5 months (due to huge backlog I assume). I'm wondering what else I can do or if anyone has any suggestion to try and curb this. I am a healthy 27y/o male with no prior heart conditions or ailments.
19M, perfectly healthy though have heart disease history in my family, started having slight sharp chest pain after the 1st dose of the moderna vaccine. This lasted the day I took the vaccine, during the night and now in the next day. Paracetamol does not help. Is this normal? How long will it last? Should I check a doctor?
Almost every day I wake up and even when I have no reason to be upset or have a bad day, I feel this physical emptiness that hurts so so bad in my chest. Makes it hard to even breathe most of the time. Just need to know if anyone else has ever experienced or knows how to alleviate this.
I'm (26f) having a minimally invasive total hysterectomy on Tuesday. Everything including my appendix is going except my ovaries, conditional on them being healthy enough to stay.
I've almost pulled our of this surgery so many times since scheduling it in September due to fear. Started having nightmares in October. Now I can't sleep eat or breathe it feels like.
Mostly I'm just so scared of the anesthesia and not being in control and all the unknowns of it. Can't stop obsessing about the what ifs.
Everyone is telling me it's safe, surgeon is the best in the area and says it'll only be 45 minutes but I'm still terrified.
Can anyone offer me words of encouragement or good stories? I want to go into this as happy as I should be - I've been begging for this surgery since 16 years of age.
Hello all. I wanted to share my experience after getting the Moderna booster, with as much information as possible included (sorry for the TLDR), in the hope that I could hear from others who have been through similar experiences.
First thing I should say, I am 100% pro vaccine and remain that way today. I received the first two doses of Moderna back in April with no issues other than the usual flu like symptoms for a day or two. Fast forward to November 22nd when I decided to go ahead and get my booster, and was given Moderna for a third time. This is when the βfunβ started in what has been an extremely difficult and stressful month for me.
I should also mention that I am a relatively healthy 31yo male who runs several miles a week and has never had any allergies or breathing issues before this.
My initial response to the booster was a stronger reaction than the first two shots, although still nothing alarming (low grade fever, chills, etc.). By the 48 hour mark I was feeling mostly okay and even managed to go for a jog. But later that night, I began to notice numbness in the two small fingers on my left hand (the side I was jabbed FWIW). Over the next week, I experienced varying degrees of numbness in my other hand, my face, and to a lesser degree my arms and feet.
Then, just as soon as the numbness began to die down I woke up one morning feeling⦠itchy. I later realized I had developed some kind of rash or hives that seemed to be appearing and disappearing all over my body. I also started to feel increasingly short of breath, which worsened over the next several days. Eventually, on 12/7 I decided to go to the ER when I felt like I was struggling to maintain an adequate supply of air. (I had not been to a doctor yet at this point, probably my mistake.)
At the ER, they did the standard blood tests as well as a CT scan to check for a blood clot (D-dimer was high), but everything came back clean and I was prescribed a six day course of prednisone. The shortness of breath improved greatly over the next few days, although the hives persisted. On 12/13 I followed up with my PCP who diagnosed me with dermatographia (aka skin writing which matched the symptoms) and told me to try taking Zyrtec (I have never taken an allergy medication in my life).
As soon as I began taking Zyrtec, the itchiness went away completely and the hives mostly went away (I still get red marks very occasionally but they arenβt itchy). But at this point, the shortness of breath ret

Iβm triple vaxxed, my first two being Astrazenica and last being Pfizer. No side effects until this week, where a handful of times a day I am very conscious of my heart. Itβs not racing a lot, but itβs like I can feel it coming out of my chest. I did yoga today and my chest felt like it was ripping. Itβs not severe pain, itβs just prolonged and now Iβm fearful. Are the side effects too far gone since my last vaccine to be considered a side effect? Iβm not long recovering from a cold also
Has anyone had anxiety related chest pain last for months? Ache-stabbing mild chest pain. That sometimes is left then middle then right? On and off for over six months.
Iβm getting there woke up in horrible sweats and rls along with horrible rage and anger. Cutting down again today been cutting 2 grams per week. Wds are manageable yet uncomfortable. This kratom shit is a beast man anyone reading this thinking it will be a good supplement DONT DO IT! Was having horrible heart palpitations and chest pains kind of scary and I just found out kratom can cause heart problems. Not sure if that is a fact but anyone else had heart issues with kratom??
