A list of puns related to "Pilar Cyst"
I'm a 33 year old caucasion male. No other health concerns, other than being overweight.
I have a pilar cyst on the right side of my head. It's probably the size of... I dunno, a bean? It's large enough that, because I keep my hair fairly short, it's VERY visible. I'm pretty self-conscious in general, and it's definitely a contributing factor. As such, I want it dealt with.
Problem is, my insurance sucks. I'm responsible for paying all of the cost, which is $550, which seems like a LOT. It wouldn't be a huge deal, except I've also been paying to have sleep studies conducted for sleep apnea, I've met with a couple of places to see about getting my teeth straightened, and I met with a couple of specialists I was hoping to help with my nutrition (they didn't seem very helpful, but each charged me for the brief meetings).
Frankly, I've gone through pretty much everything I had saved up, just trying to take better care of myself. Almost none of which is covered by my insurance (and that which is, I have to meet a $10k "deductible" for the year first). So while $550 isn't the end of the world, it's definitely a fairly major expense.
If this is something that's truly super dangerous to try dealing with at home, okay, I'll pay. Or if that seems drastically overpriced, and it should be cheaper, I'll look for somewhere else to do it.
But if it's something you can totally take care of at hope, with a sharp knife, keeping everything super clean, and just gritting your teeth through some pain, well I might honestly opt to just do it myself.
I dunno. Professional opinions?
Kind of an unusual question I guess, but ever since high school I started getting Pilar cysts on my scalp, and have had a few removed. My dad gets them too, but nowhere near the extent that I do. The last year or so they suddenly started popping up everywhere- the sides of my face, my neck, all over my scalp. Almost 30 of them. Most of them are very small and unnoticeable unless you rub the area. All day I will pick at and mess with these, and itβs like torture having these things stuck under my skin that I canβt get out. Obviously Iβm not going to perform surgery on myself, although when I was a bit younger the urge to get rid of them was so bad that I took a knife and kept slicing at them trying to dig them out. I have double health insurance but canβt afford the costs on my end to have them removed.
If anyone else deals with this, how do you keep from focusing on them?
I donβt have a video. But I want to share. I had this cyst first appear when I was 15. I accidentally burnt my scalp a year later when attempting to learn how to curl my hair and it resulted in the cyst scabbing over. I scratched the scab and the entire cyst ruptured oozing blood and white material down my forehead.
Over a decade later itβs becoming very very noticeable. Itβs near my hairline and Iβve spent years moving my natural part to hide it. A few months ago the memory of how I managed to accidentally drain it came to mind. If I could cause an injury, would it work again? I began βstabbingβ it with a sterilized needle around the base length wise. Eventually, the cyst started to rise. Tonight it popped.
Oddly, it was filled with clear liquid and a pimple sized amount of yellow/brown goo. Thatβs not the exciting part. I squeezed through my scalp CHUNKS that have a thin film coated in blood and white clingy clumps. The chunks sprayed my mirror. Upon removing them I realized it was the cyst sac broken into about eight pieces. I could even see the part of the sac that was developing a head to the surface. I was immensely pleasantly surprised. My goal was to simply drain it. But I ended up removing the entire thing instead.
It was orgasmic.
