A list of puns related to "Pemco"
Is PEMCO a good insurance? Iβm considering them for home and auto since the rates are significantly lower than anything else out there. I hear they are specific to the PNW.
Any experiences in dealing with them? Good? Bad?
I currently have Safeco but their homeowners insurance is more expensive by almost double the price of PEMCO.
What is the large white flag with a red cross that is sometimes (but not always) flown over the orange-shocked Yale & Thomas building (formerly PEMCO, now Amazon)?
Roughly 7 months in, low tech, close to zero maintenance. Monte Carlo, Dwarf Hair Grass, Java moss, other not otherwise specified moss that just showed up, emerald eye raspboras, panda corydoras, cherry shrimp. Substrate is black diamond blasting abrasive/worm casting/osmocote. Custom lighting (2x30 watt full spectrum led lights) a 120gph canister filter and uv sterlizer. I top off with RO water, and that's about it. Background is mirrored window tint. I was running a CO2 reactor for a little bit but haven't in months as I really don't need it. Anyhow, couldn't be happier with how easy it's been and nice it looks :). Would highly recommend Monte Carlo as ground cover for low tech, has been very well behaved and has a lovely color.
I became a Pemco customer a decade ago and have watched my insurance rates going up $5 a month or so per year. That seemed normal. This year, I saw a jump closer to $20/mo and wondered what was up. I've still not gone through all my coverage, but I noticed the online section has a link for miles driven.
As I commute by bus and go through a tank of gas a month, I found my account was set for 8-9k miles per year when I'm actually closer to a few thousand miles. They also had a question about if it was a rideshare vehicle. That was good for saving $120 in the next year. WTF. I told them I was low mileage years ago.
I have no affiliation with Pemco, I promise.
A little background. I was traveling in the left lane on a main street that is 4 lanes total and I am doing the speed limit. I start nearing a fairly busy intersection that comes out of a Costco parking lot. The light is green as I go through it like any normal driver should. About half-way through the intersection, a car takes a right into the right lane and then proceeds to drift in my lane. I only had enough time to barely tap my breaks and my horn simultaneously.
The car then slams into the right side of my car, knocking the mirror off and pushing me into the center divider. The center divider is just a 6 inch triangular shaped curb. We then both proceed to pull over.
Long story short, the driver, as nice as she was (although her mom was a crazy nutcase), was at fault but was unwilling to admit fault, so I called the cops. The police officer came, determined she was at fault and proceeded to give the other driver a citation for unsafe lane change.
Now, my car only has liability insurance, and since there weren't any witnesses that stopped (jackasses), the insurance company says there is insufficient evidence to admit fault and now I am left to pay for the damages. Or am I?
I am considering taking her to small claims. But are there other means of action in which I have not taken?
I also thought about calling her and telling her I am going to sue her if she doesn't call the insurance company and admit fault. Is that a good idea?
Please help...
tl;dr: Got into an accident, driver won't admit fault. I have liability insurance, opposing insurance company won't pay up.
EDIT: grammar.
The street in front of the PEMCO building (next to REI) has been blocked off for the last hour or so, and I just saw a bomb squad robot go in the front door just now.
Anyone have the details on what's going on?
Edit: Looks like someone just found a "suspicious device", which turned out to be nothing. Not too surprising, but man was that weird seeing a bomb squad robot right across the street...
