My wife has a habit of trapping me when we get into verbal fights. I am 250 lbs 6ft. She is 5' 3" 120 lbs. I try to leave to let the fight blow over and she will trap me and not let me get by her and continue the arguement. When I say I arguement I mean she is screaming and very aggressive. She has broken my parietal bone in my face 3 times. I have pushed by her knocking her down before. I have never physically intended to hit her because I am a huge guy and would literally kill her. Overview: I have a growing lump of bone on my skull. My doctor is unsure how to read my CT scans and recommended I see a neurosurgeon or orthopedist.

Background: I noticed a lump on my skull in June 2017 and got a CT scan that found it was a 3.2 cm (2.2 x 0.4 cm in greatest axial dimension) sessile osteoma arising from the outer table of the right parietal calvarium. The doctor I saw told me not to worry about it. (image 1, image 2)

The lump got noticeably larger so my GP sent me for a CT scan in December 2021. This found it was 4.7 x 3.2 x 1cm ossification/calcification of the right lateral scalp muscle, separate from the adjacent skull cortex. (image 1, image 2)

Both reports say it was likely related to trauma, which checks out -- I was in a bad car accident in 2014 where I slammed my head into the window. The lump doesn't hurt or cause any type of issue. I just want to know what it is and if I should be more concerned.

Any insight into what it might be and why it continues to grow? What type of doctor should I see?

This theory suggests that male pattern hair loss (MPHL) results from an exaggeration of skull bone growth and the formation of ridges (and promontory areas, bumps) along the suture lines of the scalp, with the genetic component being sensitivity to DHT in one or more of the bones of the skull. (I.e. parietal, frontal, occipital bones)

This will turn will trigger a cascade that involves galea aponeurotica/skin tension  (1) → inflammation/gradual fibrosis (TGF-b, IL-6 etc.) in the affected region directly above the galea (2) → reduced blood flow to the follicles of the affected region, resulting from the tension directly, and in time from the fibrotic lesions even more so (3) → progressive MPHL.

The catalyst for this process is suggested to be (in most cases) poor insulin sensitivity/metabolic syndrome, (MS) as insulin, IGF-1 and SHBG are all involved in the regulation of androgens/DHT, and those factors are all dysregulated in individuals with degrees of the MS. (4) (5) (6) This in turn could lead to evolutionary novel levels of DHT. Poor insulin sensitivity and the MS resulting from the modern industrial diet and lifestyle could then be said to be the ultimate cause of MPHL. This is corroborated by the observation that only mild post reproductive MPHL is observed in rare cases in wild living humans, (hunter-gatherer`s) as well as in our closest primate relatives. (Chimps and Bonobo`s etc.) Hence younger age, widespread and more severe MPHL could be a form of exaggerated antagonistic pleiotropy, (7) and might be considered a disease of civilization.

Sorry to pepper the board two days in a row! I had mentioned my mom (50f IDC HER2+) had a relentless headache the last few days.

I'm wondering if anyone has had a bone scan done due to indeterminate scans that couldn't exclude mets? She had a brain MRI that indicated "enhancing slightly expansile lesion in the right parietal calvarium concerning for metastatic disease" and a head CT that said "the lesion on the CT scan demonstrates subtle lucency with a lacy internal matrix and no frank bone destruction or aggressive Periostitis. However, this does not exclude metastatic disease."

The CT went on to say that the finding would be better visualized on the MRI and, if considered indeterminate by MRI, should be further assessed with a bone scan to assess regarding metastatic disease.

Has anyone had this happen to them/had to have a bone scan precipitated by headaches? Her bone scan is scheduled 02/14.

I know the best thing I can do is wait and treat what side effects she has now but it's been ringing in my ears when I told her half a year ago "mom, we'll never know if you have a brain tumor because of your headaches you refuse to do anything about" :(

The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

On March 10, 1985 three men were out hunting when they came across skeletal remains in a shallow grave off of County Rd E73 approximately 1.2 miles north of the I-25 Upham, New Mexico exit. This road was known to be frequented by ranchers and hunters, and it led to Hatch, New Mexico. The remains were found covered by thin black plastic, with bones scattered in the same area.

The victim is thought to be a 16-20 year old Caucasian girl, estimated to be 5'-5'4" and 90-120 lbs. She had light brown or blonde hair and blonde pubic hair. Near the body some clothing was found; a pink bra with two snaps present, pink panties, a sweatshirt with 3/4 length sleeves and a large "W" ('Wilson' sporting goods brand), two underwire bra supports, thought to have come out of the bra.

Investigators believe she had been dead for 3-6 months. They also thnik that, based on her clothing and good dentals, she was not a transient.

Her dentals and DNA are available for comparison.

Seven years ago, my friend Paul Bush spent a few weeks organising a stag-do in Budapest for his buddy and Racing Post columnist Steve Palmer (the groom), twelve people in total would travel from England to attend. Paul was 36 years old at the time, and I remember him enthusiastically telling me about how epic the event was going to be. He arranged a nightclub crawl with a company called “AllNightCrash”, and the party was met by a guide at 9pm at Liszt Ferenc Square in Budapest on 29th August 2014.

 

Paul was later captured on CCTV at 1:49am entering a building on Andrássy Avenue, an eleven minute walk away from the “Instant” club where he was last seen by his friends. He was accompanied by a woman in a white dress thought to be a prostitute (she was also seen accessing the building earlier). At around 2am, the same woman was seen leaving the building along with another woman and a man. Paul had lost his life, and the Budapest police were unable to identify the three people involved.
