A list of puns related to "Omniscience"
Let's assume God's all-knowing and omnibenevolent, so everything God decided to do, leads to the best possible outcome. If you pray, two possible scenarios:
A common Christian response is that "it was already in God's plan for me to pray for something, he wants us to pray, so we do", okay, but this violates free will, because when you say that it "was in God's plan", it means that he mind-controlled you to pray so that he can allow himself to answer your prayer. If it doesn't, and you actually pray for your own volition, then again, what's the point of doing it if God already decided the answer to your prayer? Why is it so important for him to see you beg for it? That sounds like asshole behavior.
At least, it's incoherent for Christians to act like God answered their prayers if they passed a hard test or anything like that. And it contradicts the Bible: Mark 11:24 : Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Destiny's big dunk on christian dudes in debates is to ask if God is omniscient, and afterwards to ask whether God knows how it feels to get fucked in the ass.
I'd like to preface my point with the fact that I'm an atheist and my only knowledge of the nature of God stems from reading the Torah.
So, I feel like Destiny's big dunk is a misunderstanding of the nature of God's omniscience, from my reading of the Torah, the all knowing nature of God comes down to the fact that he is eternal and omnipresent, thus he has witnessed everything and witnesses everything that is happening at the current moment.
From this understanding, God doesn't actually know literally everything, he knows everything that happened and everything that is happening right now, but he doesn't know exactly what will happen in the future, and he doesn't know what it is like to be human.
This gets sort of updated with Christianity where God becomes a man through Jesus and therefore he experiences humanity. However under the assumption that Jesus never got fucked in the ass, God would have no idea what it feels like.
Can any theology/christian/ex-christian bros/sisters confirm or deny this for me?
I've been trying to figure this one for a while, I've came up with something basic and I wish to know how this reasoning holds up.
If God is an infinite being, then he wouldn't be constrained within time meaning that he exists outside of time.
And if God created everything including time, and everything created has a starting point.
If we take a Person A and a Person B, Person A having a camera and Person B having free will, and they would film person B choosing between two doors and walking through one of them, A would then have a clip, when they play it they know exactly what choices B are about to make, so it's like simulating a being outside of time, and a timeline with a person making a choice and a situation where A is omniscient of everything that would happen within it.
The question would be, did Person B have free will.
And the reason I'm making this argument is that when people claim that omniscience and free will can't be compatible one of their premises hints generally to something like God knew it "before" it happened.
EDIT: Free will: the ability to make choices without any constraints or influence.
Wasn't sure if to put this here or in r/AskReddit
Jeremiah 1:5 says "Before I formed you in the womb,I knew you"
God is omniscient - He knows everything which has ever happened and will ever happen. He knows if who's going to get killed stepping out of the house today and who the murderer is. Aren't the both of them acting out a path that has been set out for them?
I mean, if something happens and one of them decides to stay in, then God already knew that's what is going to happen - even before the person was born, that the other party won't be a victim of murder that day.
In the same vein, God knows who's going to be saved, right? He knows who'll decide to live right and who isn't. So are people being born only to be condemned to eternal damnation?
I think all I'm saying is If there's freewill and people actually have the 100% choice to do what it is they want, then I think, logically, no being can know what a human is going to choose to do or not do which means the being isn't omniscient. And if the being is omniscient, then we are just acting out a script that the being already knows and every action we take already premeditated.
Would love responses from Theists, regardless of religions. I was raised a christian, hence the Bible verse in my question to serve a some sort of back up.
Hey everyone,
Honestly, I don't really play modern all that often. At my LGS some people let me borrow their decks occasionally to play and I really enjoy it. I am a commander player that looks for fun interactions to do crazy things, usually with a lot of setup. I saw from reading around for fun commanders that [[Jacob Hauken, Inspector]] with [[Hauken's Insight]] can be moonmisted to immediately flip. I thought this was hilarious that I can flip him really quick to cast a spell for a free once each turn. I then asked myself what is better than one free spell per turn, and I answered with infinite free spells each turn. [[Omniscience]] was the full answer. I am not a deckbuilder so I have no idea what's good or bad about this, any advice would be loved! Looking for something not completely competitive but just fun and optimized.
Game Plan
Turn 1: So the goal of the deck is to use all the fast mana that I have found out existed somehow to cast Hauken turn 1. This mana takes the form of [[Chancellor of the Tangle]] and [[Gemstone Caverns]] which if needed for some reason chancellor can be pitched to gemstone. Use the either free land or free mana, play a land, cast Hauken.
Turn 2: Hopefully he is still there. Tap Hauken to draw and exile an Omniscience. Play a land then cast moonmist flipping Hauken to his enchantment side. Cast omniscience for free. Then using omniscience cast an [[Enter the Infinite]]. Draw your deck, place really anything on top and play [[Thassa's Oracle]] and win the game.
That's the ideal game plan. Obviously it gets interrupted by many methods.. Lightning bolts, cursed totems. etc.. (Dress down, any removal, etb stoppers, chalice of the void on zero, really so many things)
I was posting this here to just get some insight into the deckbuilding process. You could say I would want some of [[Hauken's Insight]]. (Pardon the pun I couldn't help myself.)
I love budget decks so even though some of these cards can be spicy expensive I'd like to buy one copy of each at least, so budget as best as I can would be great. I am looking for any help or suggestions. Currently my biggest downside is its not terribly difficult to flip Hauken and flip him really quick. The problem is if I can't find both omniscience and enter the infinite. I am trying to see if there is a line where if I can cast enter the infinite for free that I can win immediately with no mana, but I cannot find that. I found the other way is

Right, ok then. Ok. So, do you want me to take this from the beginning? Honestly, I donβt know when the beginning actually was. Maybe when I first met Brian? But, I mean, it was a small school, you never just met somebody, you heard about them first. And everyone had heard about Brian Davis. Everyone knew him as one of those guys, yβknow? Those kids that skip class and talk behind the school during break and get drunk. We all thought everyone else was getting drunk. I mean, I didnβt suspect anyone of it, it just seemed like someone must have been doing it or else nobody would be talking about it like they were. Maybe it was all the shows we were watching, I donβt know. But it seemed like if anyone was getting drunk, it was Brian Davis.
He was popular but in that way where nobody actually liked him? Like, as soon as he left the room everyone would exchange glances and roll their eyes. Everyone had heard some kind of weird rumor about him. He does drugs, or heβs a stalker, or heβs a sex freak. Not to say that he wasnβt a good guy! I know he was a great guy, he was really nice once you got to know him. But he wasnβt very good at first impressions. The first time he talked to me was to ask about the next homework assignment for Physics, but before asking he just looked at me. Like, unbroken eye-contact for--I think it had to be up to half a minute. And I wasnβt just going to look away, I mean, I tried to, but he just kept staring and what do you do at that point? This guy, who I didnβt know, was looking at me in the middle of the classroom, and he didnβt seem to be getting the idea that I didnβt know what he wanted, I didnβt want to talk to him, or help him with anything. And he just--

Right, right. Iβm sorry, Itβs justβ¦ I donβt know how any of this happened. How everything could go so wrong. I justβ¦right. So, he asked me about the homework, and then asked me what I was going to do over the weekend. I told him the truth, nothing, and we set a date. I wasnβt just going to say βno.β Iβd never been in a relationship before and how often do cute, popular guys ask you out? I thought that, maybe, that staring thing was just him βfalling for me.β

Anyway, we met at the movie theater that Saturday. I walk in and he's barely keeping hold of the popcorn and tickets. The poor thing was lea
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hello, I'm here to discuss this big contradiction in... every religion, I think? So let's go~ How can humans have "free will" if God knows EVERYTHING?!?!? So, we are free to make our own choices and anything, but are we really? How can we when God already knows every single thing that we're going to do(if he's omniscient obviously)? That's a paradox, and it doesn't make any sense to me. -You're free but God knows what you're gonna eat tomorrow ahahah
If he's omniscient, then it means that destiny exists, that there's some kind of predestination which obviously goes against the concept of "free will". God knows what I'm gonna be, what kind of job I'll do, how long I'll live, how I'll die, IF I'LL GO TO HEAVEN OR HELL!!! If this isn't true and there really is "free will", then God isn't omniscient, because the moment I do something that he didn't expect me to, then I'm really free. Otherwise he's omniscient but we're not free. Which one is it? No matter what you choose you'll go against the sacred scriptures anyway, so.. Choose well.
Sorry for my english, it's not my mother tongue.
I already know how omniscience and free will are incompatible. But I have possibly another paradox for omniscience. It goes like this. Does an all-knowing being know all the things it doesn't know? If it doesn't know, then it is not all-knowing, if it does know, then it is not all-knowing. How good of an argument is this according to you? I would like to know any weaknesses to my argument before asking it in r/DebateReligion.
I define omniscience as the state of knowing everything. I welcome other definitions.
Sorry if there's a better sub for this.
Maybe I just suck at math? But I can't figure out why this well known combo needs sol ring. the math doesn't add up to me.
play command tower(or any land that lets you tap for U). play mana crypt. tap both. now you have 2U floating. play show and tell(which cost 2U) use show and tell to play omniscience for free. play enter the infinite for free due to omniscience, draw your enter deck and play anything/everything for free.
what am I missing? mana crypt cost 0 taps for 2. commander tower taps for 1 of any color in your commanders identity. I genuinely cannot figure out where sol ring comes from? everytime I see this combo brought up, people mention sol ring as part of it. I don't get it. what am I missing?
Please, don't be dumb like me, don't throw away a great run on Signature Move with that card, please... Please...
First of all, I'm not a native speaker, so forgive me for my english. I don't know if you have already talked about this argument, but I've got some questions for theists and I hope they can properly answer them. The first question is-
1)How can God be omnipotent when he can't defeat Satan, who is his archenemy basically?
So, what's the problem here? Is God not omnipotent or is he omnipotent but doesn't want to defeat him? If he isn't, then how can we trust the sacred scriptures when they say the opposite? How many things they got wrong? And also what's the use of a God who isn't omnipotent? On the contrary, If he is omnipotent but doesn't do anything, then he's bad, or at least, he doesn't care about humans, and this statement goes also against the scriptures, which say that he's good, benevolent and all.
And then there's the "omniscience's contradiction"-
2)If God is omniscient, then why did he create the archangel Samael (was this the name of Lucifer before falling? Correct me if I'm wrong) if he already knew that he was gonna rebel against him and become his enemy?
Does that mean that he isn't omniscient or that he is but he's simply bad?
The same happened with Adam and Eve. Why did he create Eden, these two, and the freaking tree with the forbidden apple if he KNEW what was going to happen??? Is God a sadist now?? Did he create them to make human suffer after the original sin?
(let's not forget that he's also omnipresent, but couldn't find these two in a small garden... Wow)
Thanks in advance and sorry if I offended any of you.
The King of Logistics, the Oxen Heavy Hauler and the Supreme Command Platform, the Omniscience Command Vehicle just rolled into the Shop!
Oxen Heavy Hauler
The forty-ton Oxen Heavy Hauler is a ubiquitous industrial grade heavy-duty transport vehicle that has been in production for centuries and has evolved considerably during that time, though little has changed externally. First introduced with an internal combustion engine, it is now more commonly powered by a fusion powerplant. Capable of towing a trailer that weighs as much as the vehicle itself, the Oxen has proven to be a remarkably dependable workhorse on most colonized worlds. Though relatively lightly armored, the Oxen is built tougher than many armored personnel carriers, allowing it to survive even direct hits from missiles and even light-to-medium autocannons.
Omniscience Command Vehicle
The Omniscience Command Vehicle is a descendent of the Oxen Heavy Hauler. The combination of the Omniscienceβs tractor and trailer is a massive eighty tons, but this behemoth of a militarized lorry has proven itself time and again. In addition to being capable of coordinating a battalion of troops in combat, the Omniscience is designed to feed those troops during extended deployments. Some variants are equipped with state-of-the-art electronic warfare suites and even an anti-missile system. In addition to being heavily armored, this mobile command center carries enough firepower to defend itself against light attack, though it is generally considered vulnerable if left without heavily armed escort.
The way things are organized is a bit different than usual, given how interchangeable all the Tractors and Trailers are it would have been a mess, so instead I have 2 types of "Full Kits", an Oxen ICE Tractor combined with a Box Trailer and a full Omniscience set with the Tractor and Trailer. Then everything else is available separately, allowing you guys to mix-n-match as you wish. The Tractors and most of the Trailers come in Dual packs but the Salvage and Omniscience trailers only come one to a pack. But that's enough boring talk, go on and check it out yourself and feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

The purpose of a tracker, whether it be in AOTC or ANH, is for it to be a long range sensor. As soon as a ship jumps out of hyperspace, the signal can be detected even if the tracking party is in another system. Long-range signals have always been a thing in Star Wars and are based on real world logic- there is a tracking device that connects to a sensor device thereby linking the signal. However, TLJ acts as if this concept is novel, and then reintroduces it in a completely nonsensical way.
Basically, the First Order has a computer that can determine a shipβs location simply by scanning it once. Remember, the Supremacy has the tracking computer, but a different ship was the one that initially scanned the Resistance fleet and no physical tracking device was ever used. Itβs basically an omniscient computer. First off, this isnβt even tracking at this point because one party is just deducing the otherβs location. And second, itβs so utterly stupid because thereβs zero logic behind it- how can a computer figure out the location of a ship without actually knowing where that ship is?
Itβs layers upon layers of stupidity on TLJβs part, as we get an existing concept that the writers think is new and then they completely destroy the in-universe logic by re-introducing it in a way that doesnβt even fit with the original concept.
What have the Church or its fathers made of the idea of omniscience? Has there been any tendency to ascribe something other then omniscience to God?
The reason I ask is that Iβve been thinking about this issue a lot lately. I had a discussion with a Protestant who argued that God foresaw all of human history, including the fall, prior to creating humanity. This would of course imply that God foresaw horrors like the Holocaust, and opted to create the world as He did anyways.
I was immediately reminded of a sentiment expressed through The Bothers Karamazov, and highlighted by David Bentley Hart: if the βhigher harmonyβ involves the suffering of a single child, then I want no part in that harmony.
So what are we left with? A God that knew the Holocaust, tsunamis, etc. would happen and decided His plan made the suffering worth it?
The issue, to me, is that omniscience has something akin to monstrous ramifications, while a lack of omniscience makes little sense if God already exists outside of time. Any thoughts on these tensions?
