A list of puns related to "Octahedral"

Dear esteemed members of the Al cartel, Dear colleagues of the Spatial Harmonics society, Dear respected rivals,
The recent contact we have made with mortals from Azeroth has the potential to be one of most prolific sources of knowledge in our history, provided we have enough humility and courage to question our own certainties.
Recently, we became aware that the Azerothians had their own view of the relations between greater cosmic powers. While the Azerothians are certainly somewhat gullible and naive, they do have some redeeming qualities; I came to doubt that such an erroneous version of the cosmology we have faithfully established could possibly come from them.
(Scribe's note: See the following for a comparison between Broker and Titan cosmography:

Indeed, we came to learn that this vision was passed down to them from the Pantheon of Order, which explains the idiocy of the matter.
However, only fools laugh without thought. We pity the Titans in their hubris, unaware of their own bias. Yet, might we be forgetting our own?
How does one perceive that within which it lies?
Could our own cosmology, even being charted after years of study by our best interstitial cartographers, be drawn from a perspective? The perspective of the realms of Death?
In fact, this is a problem in all trivial cartographical endeavors. A sphere cannot be mapped accurately to a plane, and distortions will always occur depending on the point from which the projection was drawn.
I came to the following realization; Could both the Titan vision, as risible as it seems, and our own, be two perspectives of a more transcendent, inscrutable reality?
My friends, today let me entertain the idea that the key to reconciliation of these divergent perspectives is to add a dimension to our view.
Let us take the word perspective literally and consider that what we have so carefully m

The JahnβTeller (JT) theorem constitutes one of the most fundamental concepts in chemistry. In transition-element chemistry, the 3d4 and 3d9 configurations in octahedral complexes are particularly illustrative, where a distortion in local geometry is associated with a reduction of the electronic energy. However, there has been a lasting debate about the fact that the octahedra are found to exclusively elongate. In contrast, for Na9Bi5Os3O24, the octahedron around Os6+(5d2) is heavily compressed, lifting the degeneracy of the t2g set of 5d orbitals such that in the sense of a JT compression a diamagnetic ground state results. This effect is not forced by structural constraints, the structure offers sufficient space for osmium to shift the apical oxygen atoms to a standard distance. The relevance of these findings is far reaching, since they provide new insights in the hierarchy of perturbations defining ground states of open shell electronic systems.

The construction of three-dimensional (3D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) remains challenging due to the limited types of organic building blocks. With octahedral Ti(IV) complex as the building unit, this study reports on the first 3D anionic titanium-based COF ( Ti-COF-1 ) with an edge-transitive (6, 4)-connected soc topology. Ti-COF-1 exhibits high crystallinity, superior stability, and large specific surface area (1000.4 m 2 g β1 ). Moreover, Ti-COF-1 has a broad absorption band in the UV spectrum with an optical energy gap of 1.86 eV, and exhibits high photocatalytic activity toward Meerwein addition reactions. This research demonstrates an attractive strategy for the design of 3D functional COFs.

Separation of C 2 hydrocarbons, C 2 H 6 , C 2 H 4 , and C 2 H 2 , remains significant challenges in chemical industry. However, there are only few adsorbents that can effectively isolate C 2 hydrocarbons from their mixtures particularly at a high temperature. Herein, we design a zeolitic octahedral metal oxide based on Ξ΅ -Keggin polyoxometalates with metal ion linkers. Single gas adsorption of the material shows the different adsorption performances for the C 2 hydrocarbons and the strong interaction of the material with the C 2 hydrocarbons. Dynamic competitive adsorption experiments show that the material efficiently separates each of the binary C 2 hydrocarbon mixtures and even the ternary C 2 hydrocarbon mixtures with high selectivity. The material keeps high separation performance even the temperature was increased to 85 o C. The material is stable and is able to be reused without loss of the separation performance.

I have been reading up about diamonds and how their sale prices are determined and the above parts are a part of the same. I do not know what in the world do the planes mean and why they are cubic, octahedral or dodecahedral
The JahnβTeller (JT) theorem constitutes one of the most fundamental and stringent concepts in chemistry. In transition elements chemistry, the 3 d 4 , 3 d 9 , and 3 d 7 configurations in octahedral complexes are particularly illustrative, where a distortion in local geometry is associated to a reduction of electronic energy. However, there has been a lasting debate about the fact that the octahedra are found to exclusively elongate. In contrast, for Na 9 Bi 5 Os 3 O 24 , the octahedron around Os 6+ (5 d 2 ) is heavily compressed, and the splitting of the t 2g set of 5 d orbitals induced by this compression is extreme, such that a diamagnetic ground state results. Both these issues are extremely rare. The splitting into a lower d xy (hosting two d electrons with opposite spin) and two higher d xz and d yz orbitals is so large that the HundΒ΄s coupling for t 2g electrons is overcome. These effects are not forced by structural constraints, the structure offers sufficient space for osmium to shift the apical oxygen atoms to a standard distance. The relevance of these findings is far reaching, since they provide insights in the hierarchy of perturbations defining ground states of open shell electronic systems.
