Obadiah Stane was born in 1954. He attended Harvard in 1972-1976. He played for them and won 4 championships. Until Paul Kariya came, he was the best NCAA player in history. He then won a Hobey Baker.

He was later found to have smuggled weapons for the Ten Rings in 2008. May we remember and hate Obadiah.

We all know the story behind the rise of Tony Stark's heroism. It was his longlife friend, Obadiah Stane, that forced him to confront his deeds by trying to eliminate him in the vilest way possible. But how much damage did he actually deal in general?

We're aware of Obadiah's deals with the Ten Rings. But let's look further. Tony never seemed like the kind of guy willing to participate in business negotiations, hence why it took him so long to see the truth about the use of his weaponry. 'Cause it was all Stane. Like, for example the missles in Sokovia. All approved and provided by Stane. He took the parents of our lovable twins away.

And the obvious hit on Howard and Maria Starks. Not a coincidence. Obadiah knew about the works with the serum and he probably felt like assuming the control of Stark Industries. The speech he made to Tony when stealing the arc reactor hinted at his connections with Hydra. Seems legit.

And that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Am I making any sense? What do you think?

In the scene in Iron Man where Pepper downloads the files about what Obadiah has been up to, she rushes out of the office with Coulson to return to Tony.

Obadiah discovers what she did and then it cuts to him visiting his engineers at the Arc Reactor. Then it cuts to Tony who gets a phone call from a panicked Pepper, but as Tony answers it, Obadiah is there and incapacitates Tony.

Wouldn't the phone call that Tony gets happen the moment she gets in the car to return? Why would she wait so long to call him? Did Obadiah have some stealthy helicopter?

Doing another Marvel binge when I picked up on a detail I never noticed. When Obadiah is giving the "golden goose" speech as he rips out Tony's arc reactor (which he thinks is a death sentence), he marvels at the tech, remarking, "Oh Tony, this is your Ninth Symphony." I believe this is a reference to the Curse of the Ninth, a superstition that composers die after writing their Ninth Symphony before they can complete their tenth.

Beethoven, Dvorak, and Schubert all died shortly after their Ninth Symphony debuted, and in fact, the curse was so well known that Gustav Mahler wrote what was essentially a symphony entitled "Das Lied von der Erde" after writing his Eighth Symphony, then, thinking he'd beaten the curse, completed his titular Ninth Symphony, but still died with his Tenth incomplete.

Essentially, Obadiah is saying the arc reactor is the cursed creation that will be his last before dying by calling it his "Ninth Symphony."

In the same way Ezekiel 28 speaks past the king of Tyre to Lucifer (hêlêl) concerning the day of the Lord, Obadiah 1 speaks past Edom to the powerful and proud of this very day, also concerning the coming of the day of the Lord.

Do you recall any on earth recently building shelters inside mountains? Is anyone, perhaps, putting HOTELS in orbit? Feels like it's hitting pretty close to home...

My thoughts:

1. The end of Amon and Obadiah are just the same old threats of destruction. It's getting a bit repetetive.

2. Jonah sounds like more poorly written fiction.

As I rewatch the MCU currently, I see that Howard finds himself surrounded by a lot of people who secretly want him dead.
