A list of puns related to "Mucilage"
I have a mucilage blend here...but I feel like it is drying, so I am trying to get more specific to protect the moisture in my body.
I am also having heat discomfort even from things like sea salt very small amounts. so I took a little marshmallow root powder in water and the heat is much improved however I get a sense that the marshmallow actually leaves behind a dry condition...is there any way to avoid that? does marshmallow do that? do I need to take it with more water? possibly licorice or slippery elm might be proffered? thank in advance :)
Hey folks, im exploring the alcoholic fermentation at the moment. I'm making simple fruit wine at home. I recently purchased amylase enzymes. It is used to break down slime in fruit to get it more watery and make better wine. Its often used when working with plums. This slime consists of polysaccharides which form gel in contact with water. Same thing happens with cactus, everyone who tried to prepare one knows the slime. An idea would be to try if these amylase enzymes can break down this cactus snot. The chemical reaction is the hydrolysis. It is known that with the help of strong acids, bases or just boiling for a long time cactus snot hydrolyses and gets watery. I want to know what you think about the idea to do this with the help of enzymes. Did anyone ever heard about something similar?
How do I get Mucilage out of burdock root for DIY hair detangler?
I am making a diy detangling conditioner with slippery elm and burdock root. I was told burdock root had Mucilage that could help with detangling but when I boiled it, simmered it for 15 minutes, then let it infused for an hour... there wasn't any Mucilage, it was watery. Is that how it is supposed to be? if not, how can i get the Mucilage out to detangle my curls? Is it better to use the powder or root (cut/shifted)? I use the Starwest botanicals brand.
Thanks!

Found this plant growing in my central Florida yard this morning, it appears to be some form of Drosera (sundew), will update later if I get the chance to feed it. Is this actually a sundew, and can anyone help narrow down the options?
The broad leaves shown are the plant's, and are oriented opposite each other in pairs of two. The globules have white tentacles with a single red stalk growing out the center.
Edit: Photo did not upload.
Sincerely,
Kajisakana.
Hi everyone! Iβm new to baking in general, so Iβm new to vegan baking too haha. I tried (and failed) to make some almond macarons tonight (still trying to debrief and figure out what went wrong) and I have a ton of flax mucilage left over. The recipe I followed used it as an egg white replacement. Any ideas on how I can incorporate a bunch of flax mucilage in any recipes? Thanks!
Hi!
I've been working with plants of the genus Adesmia (Fabaceae). Apparently the leaves of some species are full of mucilage. Following a CTAB protocol, when I resuspend the pellet it is viscous and pcr reactions are inhibited. I have tried:
-Ethanol washes in many steps (after grinding, after precipitation, overnight incubation in ethanol)
-Dna precipitation with ethanol, isopropanol (both at room temperature or overnight at -20) , and also tried adding Nacl and NaOAc.
-Several consecutive organic extractions with 24:1 Chloroform:isoamyl alcohol.
-DNAEasy qiagen extraction kits.
And many combinations of this steps.
Mucilage is there from the very begining: after adding the ground tissue to the extraction buffer It becomes very viscous.
Does anyone have experience getting rid of mucilage?
I intend to use dna in cp PCR reactions and in AFLP.
Thanks for your help.
I was given a large Dendrobium today and I just noticed it has a droplet of mucilage right at the base of the flowers. What is this for?
