I'm moving with my dad tothe UK next year, I'm finally going to go to an english speaking country and experiencing native speakers firsthand!
My dad is moving into the UK next year and After things got sour with my mom, I went to live with my cousins where I currently am, but my dad announced that next year he is going to the UK and that if I wanted, I could come live with him which I definitely will. I'm pretty excited for the UK.
Whoopsies, forgot to mention I'm French and am living in Belgium ATM.

Moving to the netherlands as an only-english speaker?
Hi all, this question is asked mostly out of curiosity as I'm not moving outside of Australia for a while, if I ever do. But from what I know about The Netherlands, it's at the top of my list for potential countries to move to.
My main question is, what would it be like for someone who only speaks English? I'd learn Dutch while I was there, but I wouldn't be able to speak it well for a good while. I know that most Dutch people speak english, but how many don't? Is it possible to understand common signs and such without speaking the language (or using a translator app)?
Also, how difficult is it to learn Dutch as an english speaker? I understand they are fairly similar languages.

Interesting interaction on the House floor. On the vote for Iron Dome funding, Rep Ocasio Cortez voted "no", but there was a minutes-long interaction between her and Speaker Pelosi (where Rep Ocasio Cortez seems visibly distraught) which preceded her vote switch to "present".

I found these tools in my old basement coal room. Theyβre about 3.5 feet long each and have a hook and curl on one end. The one has a wooden handle and neither have any moving parts. Both appear to be iron. Both have been in this basement room for at least 40 years.

HELP | Since moving, I now have cell phone interference noise through my desktop speakers.
Hi all,
I recently moved and somehow (I believe) my cellphone keeps sending signals through my speakers and my microphone.
If I lay my phone above my speaker volume knob, it emits an extremely annoying and loud noise, exactly like the old interference sound from long ago. This sound comes and goes.
Not only this, but if I'm on discord with friends they hear pshhh noises if my phone is nearby.
Steps undertaken to solve it:
-
Check all cables. Make sure none are on the ground (read that somewhere). They are all in the same position as before I moved: under my desk through cable management.
-
Switching speaker set: I had 15 year old Creative speakers. I switched to the Bose Companion 3 series which I recently bought.
-
Checked if it could be the 5G signals, since I have the Iphone 12 since moving. Turned of 5G and only use 4G.
Nothing has worked as of yet.
Any ideas?
Could this be because the new house is new and has thicker walls and therefore signals repeat within the room or something?
I would appreciate it, because it's driving me insane.

Techno music video (2000s) with a girl, microphone, speakers, moving cables, milk, and people making out
I remember it was a techno song (from the 2000s) and there was a singer (girl) with a microphone stand and big speakers in a dimmed lit room, there was some milk involved (I think it was dripping from the microphone stand), and people making out. As the song progresses, the microphone/speaker cables start to move around by themselves.
I saw there was another post about 4 years ago asking about the same song/music video, but it didn't have any answers. Thanks in advance.

I recommend this (cast steel abrasive shot) for filling speaker stands. Basically 1mm cast iron spheres. Paid $60 for a 50# bag delivered and used most of it. Denser than sand, rock or kitty litter, cheaper than lead or gold and safer than depleted uranium.

Speakers making a moving static noise with an unknown source. Ghost or interference?
So i have a pretty old speaker setup.
A couple of old Gateway PC speakers hooked up to my TV. Right now i raise my head up from my laptop to hear an odd static noise coming from them.
This static noise is changing in all sorts of ways, such as getting louder/quieter and changing pitch. I have not moved my speakers at all in a long time nor have i adjusted the volume.
I am unsure if there is anything around that is affecting it(and there shouldn't be) And the static has since disappeared.
Should i be worried?

Tired of issues with Google/Nest wifi, moving to a new system. Can I still use my Nest Points as google home speakers (Nest audio, etc)?
Would want to connect Nest Points to the new network. Would that work?
I think selling points/buying nest audio would end up about even dollar-wise. Also not sure it's worth the headache of selling and replacing
