A list of puns related to "Microdrive"
I have a IIGS that I got with a Microdrive Turbo installed with GS/OS 6.0.1 and ProDOS. I would like to reinstall with 6.0.4, but I have no idea where to get started.
Anyone familiar with how MicroDrive gets setup with .po and .hdv images that I already have?
I read through the MicroDrive Wiki and it seems quite confusing when they describe the process of creating new volumes using hex numbers and the like. Does the Microdrive need some special format for the volumes? I know, for example, that Total Replay is in .hdv, and many of my disk images from qkumba are in .po format, can I just copy that to the CF card like I would with FloppyEmu or Booti, or will that not work with MicroDrive?
Thanks for any help.
Suppose I have a working ZX Spectrum 48K with Interface 1, and about 30 microdrive cartridges. What is an efficient way to transfer the data off the microdrives data into fuse (as for example, emulated microdrives)?
I have been pulling my hair out for days trying to install a compact flash to replace the (working) microdrive in my 2nd generation 4GB iPod Mini. I followed the instructions on ifixit and several other sites as well as troubleshooting, but no joy. I have quite a bit of experience upgrading 4-7G classics, but this is my first mini. I follow the directions on iflash to prepare the drives, I rebuild the MBR, delete the partitions, create a FAT32 partition, etc. I also tried rebuilding the MBR, deleting partitions and leaving the drive unpartitioned. I started with a Kingston CANVASFocus 256GB (2 of them) and when I had no luck I tried a Sandisk 128GB microSD in the Umox adapter that others have reported working. I also tried a noname 512GB microSD in the same adapter. I power on to the Mini and get the sad folder. If I plug it in to either one of my Macs, or my Windows machine, I get a battery with one bar and a lightning bolt. If I put it into disk mode and plug it in, it is recognized briefly (Windows). I get a device with an error (can't start) under X label WPD Filesystem Volume Driver.
Most of the information about upgrading is pretty old and is essentially describing replacing the microdrives with similar size compact flash, so not necessarily helpful. Also, I periodically reinstall the microdrive to verify that it is otherwise working. If I leave it plugged in long enough, iTunes sometime recognizes it as needing a restore, but either it disconnects before I can try or otherwise fails. I would like to solve this and appreciate any assistance.

I recently bought 3 old IBM Thinkpads for parts and one of them carried a 1GB IBM Microdrive (P/N 07N5648 / Model DSCM-11000 / Hitachi) with the CF+ type II to PCMCIA adapter (P/N 31L9315 / IBM) (as shown in the product pic).
I was wondering if it's possible to swap the Microdrive with a more modern CompactFlash card.
Has anyone tried this before and if so which CF cards usually work right?
I tried to search for related posts on this topic in this subreddit but didn't see anything so I figured I'd just ask and hope for the best.
My husband and I got married this weekend in a backyard ceremony with just our immediate family members. His sister took pictures for us and when we were going to upload them to my MacBook this evening, he accidentally clicked "format memory card" and all the pictures now appear to be gone from the memory card. We have a decent amount of other photos from phones with some pretty decent quality so it's not the end of the world but there were some really good pictures on the camera.
The camera is a Canon EOS 7D and the memory card is a Hitachi 1gb Microdrive.
Is there any chance of recovery or are we out of luck?
Thank you in advance!!

If on android use mp3. If on Iphone you can try m4a or m4r. (m4r means it should be recognized as a ringtone)
I have about thirty ZX Microdrive cartridges I'd like to recover some data from (my own programs). I'm reluctant to do this myself as, if I make a mistake, the data will be unrecoverable.
Is there anybody that does this as a service, commercially perhaps?
What are the purposes and signals of the various pins on the ZX Microdrive edge connector?
I wasn't able to figure this out from Brian Alford's service manual.
Is there a way to make a good copy of one microdrive to another? Ideally, a method that deals well with old microdrives?
I'm trying to copy some old (but refurbished, new felt) microdrives to a vDrive-ZX.
Many years I had this school project which involved recording with a Hitachi camera. After many hours of hard work, the camera ran out of power, that's when my classmate thought that it would be a good idea to disassemble the camera to pull out the drive, instead of buying a charger or something. It turned out that the hard drive wasn't an ordinary one, but this weird microdrive with a connector like no other. With the original camera thrown in the trash, we had no other solution but to send our project without half the footage. I know our recordings are not that important, but all of us hoped that one day we could see our film complete, so I decided to give this sub a try.
Iβve owned several minis and several 4th gens. Most of the 4th gens I pick up have failing/ dead hard drives. Pretty much every mini I pick up has a micro drive that just doesnβt want to quit, the only time a mini has died on me it was a board issue that I couldnβt fix... what gives? Anyone else experience this?
How can I load a game from a .dsk file into my Microdrive Turbo and make it work? Yes, CFFA3000s are unavailable so the Microdrive Turbo is the only option available.
I just bought a Apple iiGS with a Microdrive Turbo and I basically have no idea where to start.
I tried extracting the files from a .dsk into a directory onto my computer, then transferring to the Compact Flash used by the Microdrive Turbo, but can't get any program to start.
Any ideas?
Thank you immensely for any help,
Will
