A list of puns related to "Metamorphic Facies"
Hello! Congrats to everyone that finished the ASBOG exams last week. I am posting this to contribute to the community as best I can in hopes that everyone eventually gets their PG! This is particularly geared towards anyone taking it in the future, but I'd love people to add their own take on the exams.
FG: I took the FG in 2016, passed. It took me about 2 hrs to complete the exam. I only used Reg Review to study, studying for about 2 hours a day on week days for ~3 months. I would best describe this exam as the first test from each class you took in college combined. My year had lots of LiDAR questions, and the map at the end to interpret. All my formations were named after dogs which was cute. I did not memorize a single equation. Some years there are three point problems, other years there aren't. I had a couple. Also some questions about metamorphic facies, fossils, age-dating, geophysical logs, and some of Darcys Law (with the equation included)
PG: The PG however did not go as well for me! I took the PG in March and failed with a 68%. Finished in 2.5 hrs. I used Reg Review to study, going over each chapter a week. Probably spending ~10 hours each week studying. I had a zoom study group that met once a week but we were mixed with PG only and FG & PG candidates. When I sat down for the test I was completely blown away. I felt like I had never seen half the stuff on there and what I had seen I definitely didn't focus on. Tons of geophysical logs, coal tonnage questions, oil reserves questions.
So I had to regroup to take it again. Here was my strategy for this time:
- Purchased 3 text books:
I mostly used the first one to supplement Reg Review. It is very similar material, but offers a slightly different perspective and provides real life examples, and what an engineer would do given a circumstance. With no classes
- Go through the Reg Review practice quizzes, and find the reasoning for each answer. I would research why a certain answer was right or wrong, and what the question might be if it were the right answer. This was super helpful for me! I used youtube a lot for the math questions to watch the steps.
This second time taking the test I was prepared for the emotion of not knowing the first question. But honestly my second try was NOTHING like my first. Completely

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
I can think of tons of igneous and sedimentary landmarks (devils tower, Grand Canyon), but I canβt think of any metamorphic landmarks of similar scale. I guess the question here is what are some of your favorite metamorphic landmarks? :D

We told her she can lean on us for support. Although, we are going to have to change her driver's license, her height is going down by a foot. I don't want to go too far out on a limb here but it better not be a hack job.
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

Hey all!
I am a college undergraduate taking a geology course and although it's not my major, I still find it pretty interesting. I have a few practice questions that I just need the answer to and from there I like to determine how that is right (I tend to work backward). Anyhow, here they are; any and all help is appreciated!
1) The shoreline of a lake sedimentary deposit is characterized by (select all that apply):
Crossbedding
Natural levees
An extremely fine-grained deposit
A coarser-grained, delta deposit
2) Which of the following stratigraphic principles or laws be used to determine the relative age of rocks that are not directly adjacent to each other?
The Principle of Fossil Succession
The Law of Constancy of Interfacial Angles
The Law of Superposition
The Principle of Cross-Cutting Relationships
3) Which of the following would make the best marker bed?
A beach-facies sandstone
An unconformity
A marine regression sequence
A fossil-rich volcanic unit from an eruption of Yellowstone caldera
4) Two rocks that contain the same group of fossils are:
The same age
Geographically close
Unrelated
The same lithology
5) A gap in the stratigraphic record created by the erosion of both the previous sedimentary layers and some of the underlying metamorphic or igneous basement rock is called:
A lithologic unconformity
An angular unconformity
A nonconformity
A disconformity
6) Please choose the single best answer: Assuming two rock bodies are lithologically correlated, they are:
The same rock type (e.g. sandstone)
The same rock classification (e.g. sedimentary)
The same age and the same rock type
The same age and the same rock classification
7) Which of the following statements is true regarding continental drift and plate tectonics? (Please select all that apply)
Plate tectonics ignores the creation of new lithosphere at mid-ocean ridges
Plate tectonics says continental crust is plowing through oceanic crust
Continental drift is the more accurate of the two proposed mechanisms
Plate tectonics involves the movement of discrete sections of lithosphere
8) Which of the following is NOT evidence that Alfred Wegner cited in support of continental drift? (Please select all that apply)
The altering magnetic "stripes" paralleling the mid-ocean ridges
The existence of cross-oceanic land bridges
IDentical fossils on separate continents
Glacial scratch marks
The remains of once conn
