A list of puns related to "Malakal"
Hi, I recently watched the VICE news documentary Saving South Sudan which shows the destruction of Malakal by the Nuer White Army and read the Wikipedia page which says Malakal was "utterly destroyed" during the civil war. Have there been any efforts to rebuild it and if so have they succeeded?

The sun beat down heavily on the convoy as it made its way up the dirt track; calling it a 'highway' was a bit of an overstatement. Every now and then the caravan passed a ramshackle home made of aluminum, bits of rusted steel, and the cast-offs from the local convenience store. Gazing blankly into the scrublands, Chief Warrant Officer Aiyebei finally worked up enough saliva to spit. It was more dust than anything, flung away into the wind as the Kestrel trundled along the road.
His arid environment digital uniform did nothing to fend off the dry heat, exacerbated by the fact that the rains had dried up early this year. He rode with his top half sticking out of the turret hatch, hands resting on the .50 cal mount and eyes distantly scanning the horizon. The company CO was in the vehicle behind, probably snoring away with the A/C on full blast.
No such luck for the Company Sergeant Major.
Somewhere off to the side of the road, he could see a small herd of dirty flea-ridden goats being shepherded around. For a second, he idly contemplated lighting them up with the HMG and let out a small morbid chuckle.
An hour passed, or a minute, or maybe just a few seconds. Someone tapped on his leg.
"Hey, chief? Your shift's up. I'll take the gun now."
The section LT - some fresh-faced kid straight out of the NDC - grinned up at him from the bowels of the Kestrel. Aiyebei contemplated for a moment, then shuffled over in his station until there was enough room for the Lieutenant to fit next to him.
"Come join me up here, sir. I'll enjoy the view for a while longer."
The kid scrambled up, obviously eager to please the grizzled veteran. Aiyebei had a scar for every war - Somalia, Uganda, Malawi, South Sudan, you name it - and even a few from less-than-legal incidents. The fact that he was probably at least twice as old as the LT didn't help much, either.
They sat there in awkward silence for three flocks of sheep and a run-down shop advertising Sony TVs from the 2010's, watching as the road vanished into the horizon.
The CSM spoke up: "you nervous, sir?"
The LT shook his head, but the way he shivered gave it away.
"No shame to it. Everyone's nervous. Everyone's scared."
The kid nodded. "You think we'll win, Chief?"
Aiyebei contemplated the question for a bit.

Outside of the sparse and hard-to-defend Horn of Africa, this is the part of East Africa with the largest distance between military outposts. To rectify this, the Republican council has ordered the construction of a new army barracks and a new air force base just outside the town of Malakal.
Not only is this development of the East African Armed Forces an aid to the hypothetical defense of the interior states of the Republic, but it is expected to improve the training times of new army and air force recruits by providing facilities closer to home for many of them.
The new facilities are expected to be complete by the end of the year.

The Nile River is at times temperamental, but until recently it has been the most effective means of transportation between Khartoum and Juba. Riverboats transport many thousands of people between the two state capitals each year, and barges have been responsible for the bulk of goods shipped between the cities. It has been this way since before the Flood.
But old ways change, and new ways emerge. The completion of the K-5 highway between Malakal and Khartoum marks the beginning of a new era of connectedness between the cities of the upper Nile River basin.
The highway's route is simple: keep to the river, make detours to connect nearby towns if needed. The towns are small in old South Sudan, but after the border settlements of Geigar and Renk, the highway passes through several places which could be called small cities in their own right: Rabak, Aljammalab, and the suburb of Jebel Aulia.
Once inside Khartoum proper, the K-5 continues through the city before terminating just south of Tuti Island, at the confluence of the White and Blue Niles. From here it splits into several major local roads, connecting Omdurman and Khartoum North. The Khartoum International Airport is but a couple kilometers away.
In the city center, the beginnings of the last road in the East African highway system, the K-6, is being laid. Once completed in the next couple years, the K-6 will eventually connect Khartoum directly to Addis Abeba by road rather than driving all of the way down to Nairobi and back (or taking smaller capillary highways).
Sa ngayon, for me the number is 400k.
I know not all sith claimed their titles in the most "honorable" fashion (like Palp killing Plagueis in his sleep) but Malak was nowhere close to as strong or as wise as Revan. I think it may have been a little better if they gave Malak his own scene at the end if he defeated you where he proclaims he's the strongest and Revan grew weak which is why he betrayed him. But I don't think Malak was ever fit to claim the title of the dark lord of the sith.
This is something I've always wondered in the lore. From a technical standpoint, Malak is the big ol favored of the two since he was in KOTOR I and I don't believe there's any references to the exile in the first game. From a lore perspective, I always get the impression that Revan either kept Meetra close or at a distance for some reason at various times where as Malak was always with Revan, implying they were best friends? But didn't Revan basically have a similar relationship to Meetra? Even If Malak recruited her? Than if you want to throw in the garbage that is TOR, they sprinkled some high school anime crush logic on Meetra over Revan.
