After months of searching on the web I finally managed to find a Dermatologist in the UK who prescribes Loniten. The initial consultation fee was crazy (£200 for a 15 minute phone call which makes me nauseous thinking about it) but at least I don't have to apply Regaine ever again.

Prescription is for half a year.

Just picked up my medication from my local pharmacy, happy days!

Hi guys,

Has many of you used Loniten and/or Spironolactone for hair loss and regrowth? If so what dosages? Any negative side effects?

I started spironolactone in May 2021 and right when I started I noticed a decrease in shedding and by august/ September my hair seemed thicker and fuller. I was told to up my dose to from 50 to 100 mg and by November I’d started experiencing extreme shedding. I’ve lost about 50% or my hair between November and December and started viviscal in December to try slow the shed. Here we are in January and nothing has slowed .. at this rate I would expect to be bald by March. I’ve got a prescription for Loniten (oral minoxidil 2.5) which the doctor says to cut into thirds and take daily.

I’m scared to start the script due to the shedding that occurs. Looking for any optimism out there…

Does anyone have any advice? I don’t want my hair loss to be a runaway train.

Does anybody uses oral minoxidil?? Did you get any results? What were the initial sides?

How has your experience been on this treatment? I'm combining it with Dut.

I understand it's extremely short period of time to say anything, but some people insistent on this update.

So far I've had 0 sides. Been monitoring my blood pressure almost on a daily basis and so far it's within normal range. Same goes when drinking coffee immediately after taking the pill and in the gym. So no changes to the way I feel at all.

I also take pre-workout before gym (without caffeine) alongside l-arginine. I was looking if it will interact in a bad way with each other but again, seems like nothing has changed yet. Will be keeping an eye on it and will update you guys on.

I'm planning to increase my dose to 2.5mg/day after another 2 weeks.

Hallo everyone. I will keep case very simple. Since my childhood I suffer for OCD, anxiety disorder, panic attacks and depression. I tried psychotherapy, SSRI, SNRI and other types of medication including benzos. Well things were better and worse, but never was good enough for me. I had at least one panic attack per day that lasted from 30 minutes to 5 hours. I like to think that I overcome depression because I do not feel depressed anymore thanks to meditation. However I am not able to overcome rest of my mental illness.

One of my obsession and reason to be depressed was hair loss issue. My dermatologist prescribes me Loniten 2,5mg off label for hair loss, and ladies and gentlemen it does a miracle with my hair. I am super happy with results but that’s not the main point. My doctor said that I should take it during the night, because it may make me sleepy. I was doing it since I am taking drug (almost 2 years) and out of nowhere something came to my mind to try it on the morning as I hoped it will kind of “relax” me and free at some level from anxiety that was present every minute in my life. As it tourns out, it was absolutely BINGO shot. Fingers crossed, 2 weeks already, first thing I am doing when I wake up is 2,5mg of Loniten and my anxiety is lower like no benzo or antidepressant ever give me.

So I am giving here a suggestion, maybe for some of you it will help as well.

I take prescription Loniten (minoxidil) 20 mg twice daily for high blood pressure [HBP]. (I also take prescription Proscar [finasteride] 5mg daily for benign prostate hyperplasia [BPH].) I've been taking these for a few months now. I noticed hair growing on my cheeks just under my eyes. Hair never really used to grow there.

My hair loss on the back of my head has completely stopped and grown back completely, and I have some peach fuzz in my widows peak. I just thought that this was an interesting side effect.

hello, i have been taking for about 2 months and daily a pill with 5mg minoxidil that my doctor prescribed (on top of fin) and the results are outstanding so far.

does anybody know whether that effect, obviously as long as i take the pill, will last in the long term (10/15+ years) or its a short term thing (2/3 years) until it fades or needs a bigger dose? i guess the answer must be the same as with topical minoxidil since its the same acting ingredient.

edit: btw guys, seriously, if you value great results try this shit. its amazing for early stage diffuse cases.

I'm thinking about trying Loniten to treat my early Retrograde Alopecia but I have a question for you guys who take it: what's your dosage? Should I split (take 5mg two times a day)? Can I take 10mg just once daily? Or 5mg? It would all be equally effective?

I really want to try Minoxidil to help along the growth of facial hair in both fullness and speed. Are the tablets on concession or are they a private script? Chemist Warehouse says they are on concession but y’never know. I’m worried about it possibly causing male pattern baldness though. I’m not sure where I got the idea it caused it, maybe I’m thinking of gel testosterone. If I’m gonna go bald, I’m just gonna have to deal with it BUT I want to avoid it as much as possible.

Started with 2.5mg Loniten and no results (except a shed phase) Bumped up to 5mg and still nothing. I am on finasteride and was taking fin for over a year before adding Loniten. I asked my Doctor for 10mg and he said OK because my Blood Pressure has stayed normal and I haven't experienced any sides. I'm just wondering if I should try out 10mg. I am looking for any feedback from others that have tried or are currently taking 10mg. Thx

I’m a diffuse thinner and topical minoxidil is just too much of a pain to apply, anyone know how to get oral minoxidil?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules.
