Considering how the much reputations of Annapurna, Nanga Parbat, etc. owe to their most difficult walls, I feel like Lhotse might be consistently underrated in eight-thousander discourse? Discuss.

Lhotse, the 4th highest mountain in the world, is 8,516 meters (27,940 ft), after Everest, K2 and Kanchenjunga. Lhotse is connected to the Everest massif via the South Col. Lhotse means βSouth Peakβ in Tibetan. Photo was taken descending from the summit of Everest on 22 May 2016 at 28,000 feet.

Iβm considering buying a Gamma LT to use instead of my ME Lhotse hardshell for backpacking / camping on days when thereβs no rain forecast, something that will hopefully breathe slightly better. Will the hood be too big for non climbing use and would the jacket version therefore be a better buy?

Moving from a Mountain Equipment Lhotse to an Arcβteryx, looking for advice.
So my ME Lhotse jacket died. One too many washes, one too many knocks. Too many seams going to make a good repair, so after being so happy I bought another, but the fit seams to have changed and thereβs no room under the arms around the shoulders. I have been recommended the Alpha AR or the Beta AR as roomier jackets with similar specs. Has any one swooped brands like this and have advice, esp on fit. Iβll be using the jacket all year in the UK, highlands, lakes and I live in the peaks so itβll get to see plenty of weather (rain and snow) and with two dogs when theyβre with me in the mountains often need lifting and helping up scrambles and in the peaks lifting over styles and walls, plus with me climbing itβll need to be as tough as the Lhotse I had. SV versions however are probably to specialist and for the price I would then get a ME Changabang.
TLDR: ME Lhotse to small across shoulders & arms. What do you recommend? Alpha AR or Beta AR? whatβs everyoneβs thoughts on the hood differences?
