A list of puns related to "Lend Library"
Fort Vancouver Library will soon offer board games members can check out. Some are the usuals โ Monopoly, Candy Land, Jenga, Connect Four, etc. But there are a bunch of more complex games like Dominion, Lost Ruins of Arnak (which I've been wanting to try for a while), and Trekking the National Parks, plus some fun card games like Fluxx and Sushi Go.
I've often thought it would be great to have a board game rental place. Many games are worth trying, but for the ones you don't play more than a couple of times it can be hard to justify buying them for full price unless you're just a hardcore collector. I hope the library's selection keeps growing.

Hi, I asked a friend recently (whom had a relative who worked as a librarian in a secondary school) about films libraries offer and their delivery - Specifically I asked could you access/do they make available streaming services of content they physically possess on say DVD.
It got me thinking how my old university started loaning out Laptops and my community public library has magazines on offer in digital format - I am behind the times and was wondering what else do/can libraries offer?
I.e. Given the resources available can (do) libraries provide...portable solar panels? Pre-charged Powerbanks? Musical Instruments? Bicycles? Trailers? Cars?
I remember the protagonist had lost her sense of direction by the end of it.
I found out about this last week when I needed to rent thousands of dollars worth of video equipment on a tight budget and short timeline. Nobody had what I needed. Then, I found everything I needed for free, right at my local library. https://sonomalibrary.org/camera-catalog
I know not everybody lives in Sonoma County California. But I believe anybody can join the Libary's E Street Studios (Virtual) Media Maker Meetup.
They are usually the last Monday of every month from 6-7pm but this month it is on May 24 (because Memorial Day). Hereโs the link to sign up:

Could you please help spread the word about this? They were amazingly helpful to me, so I'm getting the message out about this free program.
Iโve seen other libraries that lend out cake pans, sewing machines, etc

Might be a long shot, but I'd like to use this book for my exam about Russian society at Aarhus University, Denmark. The book/journal is only available at the library in ะััะธะณะพััะบ. Well, it's far fetched, but you never know.

(I'm just a library patron). I just requested an ILL of an academic book from my local public library. It's not a rare item, but I was wondering: do all academic libraries freely offer ILL to public libraries? Or do some only lend to other academics, those "in the club" so to speak?
"Excuse me..."
"Happiness and assorted Bliss is on floor two, on the left. If you hit Yearning, you've gone too far."
"No I'm... I'm after something different."
I paused, making sure my bookmark was secure before gently closing the heavy tome. I lowered my spectacles to the bridge of my nose to peer at the child before me. I have near perfect vision but even in a metaphysical quasi dream reality, the customers tend to expect certain stereotypes.
"Oh? And what did Miss have in mind?"
The child blinked up at me. I would age her around ten or eleven but there was always the chance this was some adult who had manifested, either deliberately or through poor control, into a younger self. She leaned up on her tip toes, to clasp the end of my desk in small hands and whisper conspiratorially.
"I don't actually know. Do you have something...interesting?"
I looked back at her blankly, hand edging closer to my novel unconsciously. It really was a gripping read with the author right at this moment writing it and i did so enjoy reading it live. I sighed, putting my glasses into my cardigan breast pocket and stood. The child squeaked a little in shock as I rose to my full seven feet but composed herself as i shuffled out from behind the desk.
"This is the largest collection of Human emotion in multiverse girl. Yes i have something... interesting. Follow."
The child dutifully fell into step behind me and i led her through the archives. As we walked, we passed a toga clad man, a beatific smile on his face as the light of the emotion blazed against his wrinkled visage. I snorted.
"What is he reading?" the child asked, looking over at the man with a fierce curiosity.
"Inspiration. Again. He's making his way through the full works."
"Is..is that an emotion?"
I sighed, scratching a particularly itchy portion of scalp.
"Yes. Its a sub section of Awe. That particular volume is quite popular actually, the Newton. Cliche if you ask me, i prefer more specific, fictional scenarios with a multi emotion blend."
"Oh."
We walked passed the entrance to the Sadness section. A man walked out, tears heavy in his eyes, threatening to spill down his gaunt face at any moment.
"Reading some Maudlin again eh? Glutton for punishment. Go get some Hope down you, miserable bastard."
The tears did flow then and the man fled back within, his cries echoing and mixing with a multitude of others.
"That's actually part of the service," I confided in the child. I leaned down and picked

Not that her appearance was anything remarkable; it was rather the opposite, almost as if she made a conscious effort to blend into the background. The library had users from all ages and all parts of society, yet she was sure no one this young had found their way here - unaccompanied - before. Was she even old enough to have been taught to read? Of course it was possible to try a sample of each emotion that they had, but that was a tedious way of exploring the library. Not to mention one might want a warning before certain ones that they had.
There was work to be done, and the girl didnโt seem to need any help, but she decided to keep an eye on her whilst filling in the new requests forms. They were overdue, which would likely result in an hour with embarrassment.

Her fingers trailed over the labels, fingertips exploring and experiencing the letters that were carved into the wooden shelves.
Longing.
Aspiration.
Yearning.
She didnโt know what they all meant, but carefully tried them out. No, this wasnโt what she was looking for. This, she already had. Perhaps the next shelf would be better.
Jealousy.
Spite.
Resentment.
She moved on.

The librarian lifted her eye once in a while, making sure that she wasnโt needed. And to be completely honest, that nothing was wrecked.
It was only when she rose from her chair, preparing to take the round of announcing that they would be closing in five minutes time, that the girl came up to her.
The librarian smiled down at her. โDid you find something that you would like to borrow?โ
The girl nodded and held out the small wooden pearl she had chosen.
The librarian had been taught not to react to whatever the customers might borrow, but now she had to fight her urge to ask why. Knowing very well that asking such questions might have severe consequences, she merely took the pearl and registered it.
โWear the necklace to experience the emotion. We recommend starting out in short time slots, to get used to it. Usually a few minutes is a good start before scaling up. You need to return it in three days time,โ she recited from the Handbook. Handing it back on a leather string she hesitated for a moment. But the Handbook was very clear that they were not to interact any further with the users. Not even small girls.
She found herself staring after the girl, long after she had left and she was supposed to be closing.

I'm thinking about opening a private local non-profit library, where physical books are lent in exchange for a monthly membership fee. The copies will be legally purchased or donated by the community. I don't intend on infringing on the rights of authors and therefore need clarifications regarding certain points.
