A list of puns related to "Lasix"
I thought I had heard everything, but I was wrong. Today a 68-year-old patient, an alcoholic, came to the walk-in center. He complained of cramps, myalgia, and pelvic pain.
It turns out that on Sunday, after drinking 5 bottles of wine, he went amnesiac until Wednesday. There he decided to consult for pelvic pain and dysuria. Whoever treated him was not worried about the almost missing 72 hours. As he had acute urine retention, they did a bladder catheterization. They evacuated 2.5 liters of urine in 1 hour (it is seen that they are not worried about ex-vacuo hematuria), prescribed ciprofloxacin (assumed a urinary infection). Whether the underlying problem was urethritis, or prostatic hyperplasia, for whatever reason Lasix was prescribed. What in a hell rat ass does urine retention have to do with diuresis?
As the patient could not urinate, he decided to take 40 MG of furosemide every 3 hours. (Here we have the cause of the cramps). They pass me the case, I do it on EKG, QT corrected 0.55, peaked P waves. Hypokalemia as expected, rounded T waves. While waiting for a bed in a hospital (couldn't do much without a lab). He started with oppressive chest pain, and ST infradesnivel, also with peaky P waves so we went to code red (code 3 for US i think). Last EKG showed ST segment depression from V3 to V5, II and III. (Update: NSTEMI confirmed in hospital)
Yet all of this seems totally avoidable. What the fuck is wrong with some docs?
PS: Sadly, I didn't take photos of the 12-leads. It was very interesting to see how it evolved, as the P became more and more peaked, the T waves flattened and the corrected QT went from 0.53 to 0.55. Way over the 0,44 expected.
PS2: Already tracked who treated him, seriously thinking on writing a report to our Director.
2022 will mark the beginning of a new chapter in American racing. USADA will taken over drug testing. out of competition drug testing will be in acted and Lasix will slowly be fazed out. With that being said. How will you guys view this era ? I personally don't believe that there's been a great American horse during the lasix era because it's a widely acknowledged performance enhancing drug. I think we can count the lasix era from 1988 to 2023. The last jurisdiction to allow lasix was NYRA in 92.
I have a seven year old Yorkie, male, neutered that is taking Lasix and Vetmedin for CHF.
He has only been on these medications for about 3 weeks. Last week he started peeing in his sleep, so I took him to the vet. The vet halved his Lasix dosage. This was last Wednesday. It's been four days now and he just peed his bed again last night.
Should i give it a little more time before taking him back to the vet? I know it probably takes a while for the meds to adjust internally.
He only takes the Lasix in the morning.
Other than the bed wetting, he acts totally fine. He has a lot of energy during the day.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
kind of a facetious question but, i have been losing 2 to 4 lbs a day since i started taking these.
do they stop functioning at some point or, do i just keep losing fluid until i evaporate!?
not really looking for an answer. i just found the thought funny.
Does anyone know about this medicine? I was on 1,000 mg of Diamox a day, but it was making me depressed. So I stopped cold turkey, not taking anything for about a month. I saw my doctor a few days ago, and she put me back on Diamox at a lower dose, but she said she donβt think the lower dose alone will do anything. So she added Lasix with it, which is a diuretic, and it makes me have to pee literally, about every hour. Has anyone been on this before? If so, what were your side reactions? And did it help at all?
Went to look him up on Tik Tok and his profile no longer exists. Looks like our reporting actually worked. Good work team. Edit: Just privated his Instagram as well.

Is Lasix (the diuretic medicine) available over the counter here? I have very occasional edema issues, and would love to be able to go directly to the treatment o know works.
Im basically wondering whether there exists any legitimate sites out there that I can buy Lasix online without a perscription.
Lasix is used for treating high blood pressure or water retention (swelling) associated with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disease. Lasix is a loop diuretic. Loop diuretics make the kidneys eliminate larger amounts of electrolytes (especially sodium and potassium salts) and water than normal (diuretic effect). Loop diuretics are useful for treating many conditions in which salt and water retention (eg, edema, swelling) are a problem.
INSTRUCTIONS
Use Lasix as directed by your doctor.
Take Lasix by mouth with or without food. If you take cholestyramine, colestipol, or sucralfate, ask your doctor or pharmacist how to take them with Lasix. Lasix may increase the amount of urine or cause you to urinate more often when you first start taking it. To keep this from disturbing your sleep, try to take your dose before 6 pm. If you miss a dose of Lasix, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once. Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Lasix.

I would give anything For Lasix to be OTC tonight, My poor legs
IIH since 2017.
Ive tried Diamox and Topamax but it make my arms and legs so tingy and hurt that it was unbearable.
I went without meds for a long time.
Been on Lasix for a month now... no side effects!
I also read today that IIH can cause depression and anxiety, and ive had it my whole life, but the past month, ive only had 2 days that were really bad, and the rest have been very tolerable.
Anyone else have similar thoughts/results?
I had a lasix scan yesterday to check out kidney function. As you can see in the picture - a normal functioning left kidney and on the right - no kidney function. The current right kidney is roughly 8.5x11x9 inches with little to no renal cortex. It's useless. next week i have a cystoscopy which is giving me some panic about the procedure.
This is all part of a process to find out why I have blood in my urine when I wake up in the morning. It is normal color all day until after I sleep. so far I have had
blood work - normal with just a slighly elevated hemoglobin
3 urine tests for lab work - all show normal bun and creatinine with no malignant cells
ct scan - no cancer anywhere but huge right non functioning kidney
lasix scan
next week - cystoscopy
hoping after that i can get an answer
Thanks for looking
Hi. I'm a 49 year old woman, I've just been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and my cardiologist told me I was "borderline" into congestive heart failure. He's upped the dose of a blood pressure medication I was already taking, added another BP med plus a blood thinner. I feel no different taking those, but the one medication he gave me that really makes me feel great and pretty much normal is...Lasix?
Why would Lasix make me feel so much better? The instructions I was given for that medication was to "take as needed for shortness of breath, not to exceed 1 tablet a day".
Why only as needed and not more than once a day? What would happen if I took it more often? And why is it that a diuretic would make me feel so much better? It doesn't even make me pee more. I just feel good.
Thanks for your help!
Ive heard that in the Marines you become eligible for free eyesight surgery and was wondering if this also applies for other branches. My vision is 20/200 correctable to 20/20 with glasses. For something like the special forces would i have to get surgery before enlisting?
My sweet old pup is in congestive heart failure with a poor prognosis. (As bad as that sounds, Iβm happy to say it after how close I came to losing him this week. Heβs doing ok for now and Iβll take it!) He started on furosemide/lasix this week. He was already wearing a belly band because he was having trouble holding his bladder sometimes. Now heβs wetting them constantly. Iβm worried that heβll get diaper rash while Iβm at work. What can I do? Any tips?
I have been on Diamox for 10 years and my Nero wanted me to try to go off of it to see if my headaches are still from iih. Thatβs another story, but he said if the headaches became unbearable to start taking Lasix. 3 weeks off the Diamox headaches have increased and seem to be getting worse. I am hesitant to start taking Lasix just because I have been on the Diamox for so long and it worked. Anyone ever switched from Diamox to Lasix and felt like it helped them the same or maybe more then Diamox?
40/M diagnosed with CHF a couple years ago. I had been in the hospital back then with a heavy duty dose of Lasix to reduce water retention and had a prescription for 20mg furosemide and potassium. After my swelling went down, we had me taking it only as needed and eventually it got removed from my list of prescriptions. Since the beginning of the pandemic, between stress and new depression meds, I gained a bunch of weight that I assumed was due to side effects of the depression meds. I now suspect itβs more to do with water retention as Iβm feeling constantly bloated. I donβt have much furosemide left and Iβm not a fan of taking those gnarly potassium pills with it, so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for non-prescription diuretics that work anywhere as well as the prescription kind. I have read a couple reviews of Spring Valley water pills that say they work just as good as furosemide but are more gentle.
Enough said. Hope youβll check it out β Diuretics & Renal Physiology!

Quick history - I was diagnosed with cirrhosis about a year ago, but only started showing symptoms a couple of months ago. Abdomen distension, lack of appetite, etc. Iβve been working with a specialist and he now has me on a high dose of lasix. Iβve lost 50 lbs in the past two months, and Iβm wondering if this is normal or too much too fast? My doctor doesnβt seem concerned, but Iβve been dealing with some nausea and fatigue and Iβm just curious if itβs related. Otherwise the other symptoms I was experiencing are gone.
Hello all,
Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why IV Lasix seems to be the first line treatment for diuresis over IV Bumex? I was always under the impression that while Lasix was harder on the kidneys and depletes potassium is was more effective, but I have recently learned that Bumex is easier on the kidneys and also more effective and more potent than IV Lasix. So if Bumex is less damaging on kidneys and more effective, why is it used less frequently? Or is it just at my hospital that this is the case?
Thanks!
