I've got an ancient Lamy 2k that I love, but, it has, no matter what I've done to it, been a hard starter. Even stored horizontally I have to prime it up on scrap paper. Recently I had to rebuild after a barrel crack, but, it still does the same thing, even after swapping the feed just for paranoia's sake.

That said, once going, it's a firehose, running Sailor Shikiori through it, medium oblique nib, puts down like a firehose and will do so probably for the remainder of the day.

Fairly confident in cap fit. If I paint up the section with ink, can see a clear line where the plastic inner cap is seating, appears to be in correct spot.

I'm outta ideas, unless I've just got a standard slightly cursed L2K...anybody got any suggestions?

So I'll take this Noobie's first Kvetch Flair on its maiden voyage. Feel free to be as specific or non-specific as you'd like.

I for one don't particularly think there's any real chance of a band member of mine finding this sub, but i'm gonna avoid promoting or getting too specific so i can focus on just sharing my specific issues and see if anyone can pitch in with some helpful suggestions

So I'm in a 4 piece Garage Rock, Psych Pop band. I play guitar, sing, and basically everything else at this point, no exaggeration. My buddy was a songwriting partner but has been doing less and less for some time. I've got a bassist that's the most apathetic, unskilled, unmotivated collaborator i've known. He would make the average flakey musician look like Elon Musk or something. I've got very few issues, if any with our drummer to date, but he's only been with us for a little while.

We've recorded a couple EP's that are fairly amateur, but are trying to take the next step up on every level and i just can't seem to crack the code of how to get us to the next level. I've come to the conclusion after much consideration to give my bassist his walking orders after the next couple shows we have because he just can't seem to figure out how to be an adult and text me back about practice schedules amongst some other derelictions of duty so i'll be on the lookout for what's already a very diffficult to fill role in my area for a band with the relatively small online and local profile that we have, but he's an energy vampire and i've given him enough opportunities to change which hes failed to do, so i'm somewhat certain that that's the correct course of action. My larger issues currently are with my co-founder and second in command who does communicate well and is pretty responsible, but is very much complicating the process of adding new songs to our set that are good enough to be in it. I'm not really interested in performing as a solo act in any way. It just strikes me as uninteresting and somewhat pathetic in a lot of ways, so i don't wanna push him away cuz it'd effectively mean the end of the project i've sunken several years of my time into at this point, but for him it's just a different type of commitment he could take or leave and thus he sort of holds all the cards and i have to tread lightly whenever i ask him to do something.

I’m seven days post op and taking it easy today because yesterday I used all this new energy to walk three miles around Chicago with my six year old daughter. We looked at fancy dresses and she got her nails did.

The doctor left a drain tube in me—cursed tube!—so a couple of hours bouncing and sweating had me in so much pain I couldn’t sleep. I was sending off panicked email to my doctor at three AM about the infection I was sure I had. It felt all better this morning. I had to apologize to the poor nurse for being an ass. I’m bored and want to talk to my tummy homies. How is your recovery going?

So somebody posted on our local NextDoor about how easy it was to get the vaccination, etc. Then someone else posts something about helping small businesses, and things devolved.

It got to the point where people were posting all kinds of rumble.com conspiracy videos about vaccine injury, "it's not really a vaccine", and depopulation. I got frustrated and started going through and reporting those/calling out one and (not rudely, but not super nicely) asking that they don't post that kind of stuff in our neighborhood as it is increasing in spread right now. The local "leads", perhaps unsurprisingly, could be found liking/approving of all of the conspiracy/ "oh I don't know..." Tucker style posts and silencing others.

Then today I got an email directly from one person warning me about one of the leads and when I go in to read the email, I find out I've been suspended for 4 days.

Pretty funny and petty, but yeah. The kinds of drama I really should expect on a Reich-wing Karen central forum like Nextdoor, but I was hoping our community here wasn't that toxic. I should have heeded a yet earlier warning from someone that "yeah I grew up here, we *definitely* have more than our fair share of nuts".

Okay that's all, just wanted to kvetch a minute and enjoy the humor that someone thinks a suspension means much for a "social network" where those posting things that only decrease the number of people getting vaccinations here (like 26% or something ridiculous last I saw) is lauded by "leadership" against TOS.

What is staring me in the face and I'm just too annoyed or too silly or too foolish (or too old, obsolete, late for my appointment with the junk heap or trash compactor) to see it and realize it on the issue I'm about to write about?

My physician tells me that I should be around for another thirty years, but he only looks confused and laughs when I ask him to let me in on the secret of why this is a Good Thing. Can someone please tell me what I am overlooking, for the sake of my soul and my sanity?

I knew what to do with my life in my 20s and 30s and 40s when (INTERLUDE OF A LAMENT BEGINS)

Be true to yourself. I'm not offended to be told Merry Christmas because you're wishing me to enjoy a particular day that has religious meaning for yourself and others. Unless you're using it to antagonize me as an anti-semitic act, at worst I'll take it to mean "have a good day".

But the holiday season doesn't start on Christmas. It starts just after Thanksgiving and is inclusive of Hanukah. To wish me "happy holidays" six days after Hanukah ends tells me you don't actually care about being inclusive, you're just pretending to be.

Either send it early or knock off that transparent, P.C. bullshit.

I am an OT and ATP who is in charge of wheelchairs in different residential settings. AND I AM GOING CRAZY WITH THE OBESITY CRISIS! 10 years ago I did my first chair (and remember the chair has to fit the person) where the chair was too wide to get on the van lift. Did not even enter my mind at the time, was only worried about the doorways. Now it seems like I am always trying to do different non-standard configurations to get the person in the chair with the support they need and still be able to get around in their fully ADA living arrangement. Then most of the chairs aren't holding up that well even though they are technically in the weight range. The "frame" itself holds up, but the armrests and legrests are a different beast.

Hi all,

Would any other folks with nonverbal learning disorder be interested in starting a group (maybe over chat) to sympathize about our struggles with NLD, share strategies, and help each other out?

I envision this as a place to vent, share information, and maybe even coach each other on things like job interviews, job hunting, and staying employed once you get in (all three are pretty difficult for me, and I've read stuff by other folks with NLD that suggests the same).

If this already exists somewhere, I'd love to know, too. No reason to reinvent the wheel!

UPDATE: 11.192019 16:29 walked 2 miles to Trader Joe’s and back to pick up some LID lunch. The walk took a bit out of me but I’m fine otherwise. My throat started to burn finally. Well, one a scale of 1-10 it’s at a low 1. If I focus I notice it.

UPDATE: 11.18.2019 22:46 Didn’t have any symptoms today. Well, I did have a slight bit of nausea but I wonder if that was from the increased fiber intake. I did notice, however, that my period has been the most normal it has been in years. Not RAI related but definitely thyroid + Levo related.

UPDATE: 11.16.2019 20:32 Feeling really good. No side effects. Just bored and watching sewing, knitting, and cooking videos on YouTube. Doesn’t feel like I took a high dosage of radiation at all. Might not update until scan unless I feel something.

UPDATE: 11.15.2019 They forgot to release me yesterday so I had to stay over night. :/ I was retested this morning by the awesome radiation safety officer who was furious that I was still there despite giving me the all clear. I was at a 0.1. I don’t feel any differently but i am so very,very tired. No dry mouth, no nausea.

UPDATE: 11.14.2019 It’s almost been 24 hours since I took the pill and i don’t really feel anything. My face felt like I had been in the sun for a short while but that’s about it. My Endo came in to see me and he said that that’s perfectly normal and that it doesn’t mean that it’s not working. I’ll update anything if I feel something. 14:43 My lovely radio safety officers came to monitor my levels and they measured a little above 3. They put in the order to release me later but I’m still leaving my gown on and stuff in my drawers just in case. Still don’t feel anything. 22:36 Still don’t feel anything. Also, still in hospital but I’m ok with that because I didn’t want to have to come back as the a$$ crack of dawn to get blood drawn from a vein already abused by having an IV in it for three days.

UPDATE: 11.13.2019 12:30 I’m in my hospital room now. I’ve had a series of blood tests and now we’re just waiting on the results of my pregnancy test. Can’t eat or drink anything all day. Haven’t received my instructions, just chilling and watching Karate Kid 2

Dr. told me that because my hospital doesn’t have a facility to check my urine for iodine they have to wait a week for the results. This also means that I’ll finally be able to break LID on the 22 of November. Which means I’ll have been on the diet a total of 39 days cries in NO iodine

I’ll be getting 150 mci and I guess this is because my PTC type - classic. Let’s see what the pee test says....

I'm into day two of Interstate 76 and it's been a bear to get working. There's a lot of threads about it all over the place, and a lot of dead links.

First off, I can't get my controller to work at all, so I'm playing with keyboard only. No mouse or joystick. I'm using wasd (the one true keyboard layout) for driving and the numeric keypad for looking around, weapons management, and misc. stuff. I tried using the mouse but I realized how dumb it was to use the mouse when I'm not moving it at all; just clicking buttons.

By default, I76 will run in software rendering mode, which caps you at 640x480. That's lame. I was able to get it to run in 1024x768 using glide mode. I'm using the GoG launcher, I opened it and clicked More > settings and added -glide as a command line argument. You can also launch it from command prompt with i76.exe -glide.

Glide is the old api that 3dfx wrote, back when voodoo 3d cards were the hottest shit around. To get glide working, I had to download the OLD version of dgvoodoo. I had a bunch of problems with the newer version, but the old version worked fine. You can get it here: http://dege.freeweb.hu/dgVoodoo/dgVoodoo1.50Beta2.zip. Extract it all to the i76 directory and run dgVoodooSetup.exe. I didn't mess with much other than changing the resolution on the glide tab, but I'm still messing with it. I'll post any updates.

Finally, I read that you should force a 30ghz refresh rate, so I did that by launching NVidia control panel, going to "manage 3d settings, and adding a profile for i76.exe. I set "Vertical Sync" to Adaptive (half refresh rate). I should note that this didn't really seem to help anything, but I guess there's some issues with jumps and such that it might fix.

I still have issues with the car wheels and tail lights looking janky and skittering around, but the game is playable and looks pretty good. I'm running at 1024x768 now, but I might explore higher resolutions.

Whether it’s pictures of a hand with well-kept nails, except two of them are significantly shorter than the others; or images of nail clippers or of someone clipping their nails, both accompanied by a caption like things you do that straight women don’t understand; the cliché is fairly well-known.

And it’s always bugged me, at least a little.

Don’t get me wrong. I keep the nails on my dominant hand short. And not just for fun times. I was a working guitarist for some years. And while it isn’t how I earn my crust these days, I still play, and I still keep my fretting hand’s nails short.

But those guitar playing years are partly why the imagery associated with the cliché has always bugged me.

Because I never clip my nails. (I don’t even own nail clippers.) I file them. Every day. With very fine nail buffers. It leaves my nails seriously smooth.

This is great for reducing the chances of my plucking hand’s nails getting snagged or torn.

But nail buffers are equally great for ensuring my fretting hand’s nails aren’t just short but also seriously smooth. Because a short, clipped nail is still bloody sharp.

And, while I’m kvetching, another thing that vaguely bugs me about the images used to denote this cliché: on many of the ‘two short nails’ pictures, the short nails are still way too long. I buff my fretting hand’s nails down to below the finger-tip. Not to the quick, but shorter than most of the ‘short nail’ pictures I recall seeing.

Because a silky-smooth finish on nails that don’tt protrude above the finger-tips at all aren’t just a great help for fretting.

Yesterday I was in triage for 12 hours, probably triaged at least 60 people. 10 hours and 10 patients deep, in I asked my charge nurse for help. She told me I should "learn to triage faster"

I had to walk away or I'd be in jail right now.

I made it through Friday night without drinking with two kids home sick. I was quite proud of myself last night and happily checked off the day on the calendar. The idea of waking up to a hangover free morning was exciting but I had a horrible headache this morning! I had bought some non-alcoholic craft beer to mimic my old routine. Did I fuck up? Did the NA beer cause the headache? Or am I getting sick too? Are those NA "beers" off limits and I am back at day 1?

I've used video games to help sublimate my pain historically. I'm flaring badly enough right now that I can't even play for more than a few minutes. I have dealt with pain for a long time, and I'm used to it to a certain degree, but not being able to distract myself from it even? That's just insulting.

As many astute frogs here observed, TIME was oversold from liquidations and is now trending back up.

Of course, it's too early to say for sure but it looks like this "crisis" has been abated.

How is it that a jar of piss not medieval technology but an invisibility watch is?

New Yankee Stadium isn't the best ballpark in the league. So what? It was hurriedly built, and still manages to be a vast improvement over the old stadium. Is it better than Citi, Kauffman, Camden or any of a number of more affordable places around the country? Maybe maybe not. But it's possible to enjoy great baseball, in a safe atmosphere, sometimes on the spur of the moment with a friend and not spend more than $100 all in - yes food and 2-3 beers included.

I've seen 3 or 4 Yankee games already this season and have never paid more than $20 per ticket, and twice got $5 tix (Levis promo). Almost always in row 1 or 2 in 400s or on aisle in 300s.

And why are people always crying about not being able to move from the 400s to the 100s? Get over it. You're at the damn game. Sit back and enjoy the experience. People who are angry because they can't cheat their way to better seats piss me off. If you can't appreciate the experience of being at the stadium without being on top.of the field, then stay home or go to the bar and watch the game on tv.

It's not the way it was. Nothing is. But it's not like it's impossible to get affordable tix for games, even same day for those impulse, hey let's see a game.moments. Nor is Yankee Stadium a bad place to see a game. I find it safe and friendly, much more so than in the 80's.

Enough with the whining. It's tired, inaccurate, and doesn't actually create any kind of change. You really think Levine or the Steinbrenners are ghosting this sub and will immediately change their ticket pricing because of comments/threads like this?

Even though I'm 1-6 in this league (I swear I'm really trying), I am happy to report that in my IDP league this season I am currently 5-2 and am in 2nd place in the league. So there! I swear I know how to play fantasy football.

If I am holding the aim controller straight in front of me and bring it up into view of VR it will often be twisted to the left or right by a few degrees. Shaking will occasionally correct it, power cycling the controller and the helmet will occasionally correct it. Sometimes it stays straight for awhile. Sometimes I can hold the controller still and watch as the virtual version just slowly twists to the left or right on its own.

My living room is completely devoid of reflective surfaces. I've set up blackout curtains. I've turned off Bluetooth devices. I've set the whole rig up in an entirely different house and had the same problem.

This is kind of a deal breaker. I didn't spend all this money for a product that doesn't work the way it's supposed to. I'm super frustrated. That's not the experience I wanna have. I shouldn't have to power cycle all the accessories in between every three-minute round of FWZH. I shouldn't end a four lap race in GT Sport with my head turned 45 degrees to the left just to see straight.
