Left Kuomintang Diplomatic Path now Impossible
I went through a LKMT playthrough with custom game rules to have the nearby cliques all go LKMT aligned so I could annex. With 0.19, you no longer immediately annex aligned cliques and instead get them as autonomous puppets. This makes sense for balance purposes, but has completely broken the diplomatic path for LKMT.
I believe this would be completely fixed by allowing annexation of aligned LKMT cliques with the "1st Repatriated Congress Focus."
Details below:
- The puppets are complete dead weight in the reclamation war. Since you cannot form or join a faction as the LKMT before the reclamation war, these puppets will never leave their own territory even if called into the war. This makes the reclamation war against the Qing nearly impossible. You now have to annex these territories directly through war to get any benefit from these areas.
- If one of these cliques go LKMT aligned you are also screwed, since you now cannot attack them and they will offer zero help against the Qing.
- If you puppet the LKMT aligned cliques, you cannot attack any other clique beside the Qing. You have to border a warlord to attack them, and your puppets do not count as bordering.
- You can only annex these aligned puppets after completing "Reintegrate Northern China." You can only complete this focus after successfully annexing the Qing Empire.
- The Fengetian diplomacy option as LKMT will always fail. The success outcome is based on your relative strength, and since you have no industry and your puppets aren't in your faction, Fengetian sees you as the absolute pushover you are.
- Since you cannot negotiate with Fengetian, you now have one of the weakest industries in China, with no help from allies, and you now have to fight both them and the Qing. I have well over 1,000 hours on HOI4. This is functionally impossible without massive cheese.
- Just to show how bugged this path now is, here is a screenshot after puppeting Hunan. For some reason LKMT has a name change to what the puppet's name should be. So every time you negotiate, your country changes name to "X" Autonomy.
