##The United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway
The United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway was the personal union of the kingdoms of Sweden and Norway under one monarch and a common foreign policy that lasted from 1814 until its dissolution in 1905. The union, that was represented by one of the most awesome flags of all time arose in part as a result of the changes wrought by the Napoleonic Wars. After Russia's annexation of Finland during the Finish War seemed irreversible, Sweden demanded Norway as a form of compensation for joining the allies against Napoleon. Upon Napoleon's eventual defeat, Sweden sought to make good on its promise, but although at first the Norwegians were not too thrilled at the prospect. However [a quick war](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish%E2%80%93Norwegian_War_(1814)) between Sweden and Norway soon settled the matter in Sweden's favor and the personal union of the two states finally came into force. While the two kingdoms now shared a monarch and a united foreign policy, both states maintained their own constitutions, legislatures, and even currencies. Eventually after a new wave of discontent, the Norwegian Parliament unilaterally declared independence in 1905, which was accepted by Sweden, bringing the union to a close. Nevertheless, the almost century long union left a strong mark on both countries.
So... what do you know about the United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway?
Sweden is a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary democracy; Sweden maintains a Nordic social welfare system that provides universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens. It ranks very highly in quality of life, health, education, protection of civil liberties, economic competitiveness, equality, prosperity and human development. Sweden joined the European Union on 1 January 1995 but declined NATO membership. With the rising conflicts and rogue nations around the world, Sweden wishes to help provide security to northern Europe and maintain its neutrality.
Plans for Sweden
Β· Provide guarantees for Scandinavian nations
Β· Continue foreign relations with both the EU and Russia
Β· Provide aid to the rising problem of climate change
Interested in creating a stronger Scandinavian identity and empowering the Nordic Council with the eventual goal of forming a Scandinavian Commonwealth.
With the US faltering, and the strength of NATO in question, Scandinavia needs to be prepared to fend for itself. I plan to continue economic growth, social progression, and an increased international presence including the revoking of our neutrality policy.
I look forward to trying to form a Scandinavian Union and increasing our standing in the world.
Sorry to do this, especially when things are so up in the air, but Iβve lost a bit of interest and canβt do this season justice.
Apologises to all and I hope the rest of the season goes well.
Korçë has gotten boring and has become a chore to manage, and I'm starting to think I took on too little to chew. As I haven't done too much as them, I think it should be fine for me to shift to Sweden.
Sweden was neutral in the great war, a maintenance of it's policy of military neutrality since the Napoleonic wars. This was not maintained without difficulties though, close Swedish ties to the Germans among the Swedish population and the minor nobility swayed Swedish support toward the Central Powers, but Sweden continued it's exports, primarily Iron ore, to both sides of the war. An alliance was offered by the Germans at multiple occasions in the war, but in the interests of maintaining neutrality this did not go furthur than extended Iron ore trade. Still, heavy dependence on food exports from Germany, and the subsequent shortage as more and more resources were devoted to the war effort, lead to substantial social upheaval in Sweden, leading to the downfall of the conservative government and it's replacement by a social-democrat one in the 1917 general elections.
As of recent, Sweden has undergone substantial psh for social and political reform, including universal suffrage and constitutional reform proposed under the government of Carl Swartz that was moderatized under the successor government of Nils EdΓ©n. Pushes for work reforms such as 8 hour workdays and improved worker's rights have also intensified, and it is more than likely that some particularly dissatisfied advocates may push for further left-wing action.
Currently under the reign of Gustav V of Sweden, with the incumbent Nils EdΓ©n as his Prime Minister, Sweden has many opportunities in these recent events. With Russia in chaos, Sweden's eyes turn to the east, particularly the Γ land Islands, a rightful territory of the Swedish people. The current situation in eastern Europe is opportune for Swedish intervention.

To: The Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Sweden, Peter Hultqvist,
With the UAE and our allies across the Middle East facing a number of varied and disparate threats, from growing tensions with Iran, instability in Saudi Arabia, civil war in Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, as well as the rise of ISIS and other extremist groups, it's become obvious that the UAE's Union Defense Forces must enlarge and modernize entirely to meet all of those various threats. To do this, the Union Defense Forces have enacted a reorganization and modernization program, named "Modern Nation-Modern Military 2025" which has fallen under the direction of I, Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the Union Defense Forces.
With the Union Defense Forces, especially the Emirati Air Force and Navy using a good amount of Swedish built equipment, I've decided to contact you personally, so that we may discuss the purchase further of Swedish equipment, which is either interoperable with existing Swedish equipment we operate or enhances the Union Defense Forces. So I'm hoping that the Kingdom of Sweden would like to continue its military and economic partnerships with the UAE and sign a series of new deals!
The following is a list of Swedish defense materials that the Union Defense Forces would like to acquire.β¦
4x Saab Swordfish Maritime Patrol Aircraft/Bombardier Global 6000 Variant
36x Saab Arthur Mobile Ground Surveillance Radar
Furthermore the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates would like to inquire into the price per unit of the following Swedish defense materials...

So the UK and Sweden just signed an agreement to jointly develop a new generation multirole aircraft..
Personally i think this is a bad idea since the UK and Sweden have vastly different strategic and tactical needs in a conflict. The UK is an integral part of NATO and as such want to be able to project power all over the world, whereas Sweden is a neutral nation who only wants to control its own airspace.
The main argument here in Sweden to continue our own development and production of military aircraft is to keep them perfectly suited for our strategic, tactical and economic needs.. I'm afraid that argument is lost with this deal.
I've been searching for an answer to this question, but I just can't find it anywhere. It seems like wikipedia is the only resource to even briefly mention their involvement.
Sweden >!2-1!< United Kingdom
I am very interested in Sweden in the period before and after unification. I have seen various sources that mention "petty kingdoms". However, there is very little information over which petty kingdoms were actually important, and what the timeline was for each becoming incorporated into the central kingdom. In addition, were any notable for maintaining power for a while after unification, with significant local autonomy as powerful dukes? I'm particularly interested in Norrland, and how much control the King had over the remote area during the High Middle Ages. Thanks.
It says so on the announcement page in fine print, wish I saw it sooner. Disappointed that I won't get them, but hoping that they will add more countries later on.
Hi everyone!
The response to Sunday's SMS FIΓO announcement completely astonished me. I didn't expect so many people to get so excited about FIΓO!
The one thing above all else that I heard in response to my announcement was "I want an access number in my country!" from every continent on Earth. So, I tallied the votes and did some coding, and now I'm pleased to announce that FIΓO SMS Tipbot is launching right now in seven new countries. SEVEN!! It's only been what...three days?
The new countries and their access numbers are:
.
Australia +61 43 929 4335
Canada +1 587 316 DOGE (3643)
wow!
Finland +358 457 395 0799
very access
Germany +49 177 178 9339
many dial
Norway +47 594 41 585
Sweden +46 76 943 8228
United Kingdom +44 75 0733 2662
.
And please note that there is a new number for the United States:
.
United States +1 605 888 5005
.
(the old number will be discontinued in a few days - sorry for the confusion)
All numbers for all countries are, of course, at fido.pw
None of this would have been possible without all of your extremely generous donations, for which I am beyond thankful. FIΓO will be expanding to more countries and have more features very very soon -- hold tight!
Feedback is much appreciated, as always. If I haven't come to your country yet and you want a number, don't hesitate to ask!
Thank you all so very much!! Together we are all headed straight to the moon!
