So, as you may have seen in another post, on April 1st, as a joke, Kagawa Prefecture in Japan spawned only Slowpokes for a few hours (in the morning, so it wasn't too infuriating).
It was a publicity stunt based on a pun. Kagawa is often nicknamed Udon Prefecture and Slowpoke is Yadon in Japanese, so Kagawa has also become Yadon Prefecture.
We thought that it was all there was to it. How wrong we were.
Apparently the Kagawa Prefecture has launched a full very official campaign to promote the area as Yadon Prefecture (Japanese prefectures love silly publicity stunts to promote tourism).
Since Friday I had noticed a serious increase of Slowpokes (to the point that I evolved two yesterday, I usually evolved them every couple of months or so), and the reason has become clear:

So basically, from Thursday 12th until the end of the month, there is a Yadon Festival, with photo contests and more. I suspect that I'm on the only redditor on this sub who lives in Kagawa, so it may not concern you much... (and as my reading skills are pretty limited in Japanese, I'll give you more detail later if you want to know more)
