A list of puns related to "Jonathan Ames"
Good afternoon, Reddit! Iβm Jonathan Ames, and Iβm here to answer your questions. You may know SOME of my books, includingThe Extra Man, Wake up, Sir!, and WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?, or you may know some of my TV shows including BLUNT TALK and BORED TO DEATH. It's unlikely, but You may also be familiar with my Twitter account @JonathanAmes. As Blunt Talk enters the latter half of its second season, Iβm here to talk to you aboutβ¦ anything!
Just answered questions for an hour or so. Will check in later today to see if any more questions have come in, though that is probably unlikely. Regardless, thank you for your interest!

Looking for books about sexual relationships that land somewhere between graphic and tender. I tend to prefer single character books, but I loved Drown by Junot Diaz and that's mostly vignettes

A few years back, you might remember there was a fictional documentary about Joaquin Phoenix--I promise this is important, so bear with me. I never saw the movie, and I don't know anything about it aside from the fact that it wasn't very well received, that it features a scruffy-lookin' Joaquin Phoenix, and that I saw the posters for it a bunch when it first came out.
Fast forward to the last couple weeks or so, and I keep seeing DVD covers for the movie "You Were Never Really Here." My brain remembers the title of the movie being similar to that, and right there on the cover is a scruffy-lookin' Joaquin Phoenix. That was all my brain needed to draw the conclusion that it's the same movie. "Why are there so many of these on the shelf at Wal-Mart?" I'd think to myself. "That had to be at least two years ago!"
Then today I'm browsing in the used bookstore, and I find a small novella, "You Were Never Really Here," with the same movie-based cover, the kind that I normally pass up in favor of an original cover when I can. Did they novelize a fake documentary? That didn't make any sense. I look a little more closely: "Now a major motion picture!" it informs me. So it was a book first? That makes EVEN LESS sense! How do you write a novel that gets adapted into being a fake documentary about a real person? So I read the back cover. Something about a former FBI agent rescuing girls kidnapped into the sex trade. This is NOTHING like that movie! Am I going insane? Am I suffering from the Mandela Effect, having slipped into this universe from the universe where this movie was a fake documentary?
I turned to Google. Google always has my back.
Turns out, the movie was "I'm Still Here." The poster for that movie features a scruffy-lookin Joaquin Phoenix in a suit and sunglasses. This movie is "You Were Never Really Here," and features a scruffy-lookin Joaquin Phoenix in much less posh dress. The two have nothing in common aside from kind-of-similar titles, and scruffy-lookin Joaquin Phoenixes.
Well I've put this much time into figuring out this crisis, is the book any good? So I bought it. Three bucks at the used book store, why not? Went upstairs to the food court, grabbed some dinner, and sat down to start on it while eating. Finished the book not long after I finished my dinner; it was a damn quick read and completely engrossing.
I haven't seen the movie, so I have no idea how it compares or how well it adapts the novella

Adam opens the show ranting about trying to get his kids to eat eggs for breakfast. He talks about his continued problems surrounding deviled eggs, and then chats with the gang about the red carpet premiere of his new doc, βThe 24 Hour Warβ. The Porcelain Punisher is also in studio, and the group discusses an awesome sweepstakes where you can win a chance to go on the Carolla Cruise this December.
After the break, Adam welcomes author and producer Jonathan Ames to the podcast. The guys chat about his series βBlunt Talkβ, as well as the other films and series heβs been involved with, like βBored to Deathβ. Gina then begins the news talking about Donald Trumpβs team trying to spin his comments about not paying federal taxes. They also talk about the highest rated Saturday Night Live in years, Hugh Hefnerβs illness, and a scary decoration pulled from Home Depot shelves. As the show wraps up, Adam rants about a peanut allergies and a very awkward funeral.

I have a few Jonathan Ames books: novels, short story/essay collections and his graphic novel. I've enjoyed the long fiction quite a lot, but i find his essay and short stories to be quite inconsistent. Some are quite brilliant, others are quite uninteresting or too similar to his other work. I always see one or two of his books in stores. Every book of his, that I've read, include tens of reviews. Yet, he has relativity little name recognition, as compared to other humorists and hardly gets mentioned here. So, What do people think of him?
Enjoy the style of story telling, thought I'd ask guys who know these sorts of things as advise to the new guy.
I want to hear opinions of fellow BtD fans, I was so excited when I heard Ames was putting out a new show. I watched it very ... intoxicated, so only remember a few parts but do remember chuckling and enjoying what I saw, and the end of Ep. 1 left me wanting more but it was too late for me to start a new Ep.
I just have some random 80's and 90's comic issues, all in good shape.
Flash issues #40-42 Adventures in Superman #444 Superman in Action comics #660 and 668. "The Alcoholic" by Jonathan Ames. Think Tank vol. 1
What I want is to get rid of these. All in great condition i just don't have any interest in them. So make me some offers!
I'll throw out my interests if by chance someone has something they want to trade...
Superman birthright Justice league vol. 2 (New 52) Batman haunted Knight Suicide Risk Vol. 2 Just list anything below and we can chat. :)
If you like comics, I highly recommend Jonathan Ames's graphic novel "The Alcoholic". I just linked to a NY Times review of it. I've worked with the artist and picked it up this past weekend. It was one of the best graphic novels I've ever read, in my opinion. I'd love to talk to the artist about the author, but I won't break my anonymity! Too bad.
