Kyoshi was not in the Avatar state when she broke the peninsula off into Kyoshi Island
Never really noticed this before. Her eyes glowed for like a fraction of a second but promptly when back to stock configuration. She then proceeded to just break off an entire peninsula by herself.
To make things weirder, it appears that she did use earth/lava bending to separate the land masses, but only used airbending to actually push the newly formed island away. It would have taken a stupidly powerful air gust to do that. In addition, do to her feet not actually being anchored in the ground (though perhaps her dress was obscuring this), the only way that force could have been transmitted to the island is through the friction of her feet and the land. So the friction would have had to been enormous as well as the strength of the ground (in shear?).
However, Chin's entire army did not get blown away from that, so perhaps it only showed her airbending but other elements were at play. The ground was also not able to support Chin's weight though. However I suppose it can be due to difference in ground quality, Kyoshi manually holding her ground together, and the trauma that chin's ground just went through.

My Mum just passed away on the Island. I'm in the USA. Can anyone advise on the present state of travel restrictions to the IoM?
We have support on the Island to take care of the immediate practical stuff but I'd really appreciate some insight into the current travel restrictions if anyone has any. My husband and I are American and our state is currently going through a giant spike of omicron cases, so we are assuming we won't be allowed on the Island for quite some time.
