Sorry it's all in portuguese, hope the spanish speakers in the sub can understand at least most of it
Fuck.
Anyone think this could be the reason the vaccine / monoclonals helps some and make others worse? Group that had excessive antibodies (young and fit maybe), and a group that simply struggled to fight off covid virus itself due to an unknown immunological deficiency.
It's almost like there are two sub groups in here no one talks about.
Any thoughts on this idea? Any actual science to support it?
My guess is, to solve the problem we would have to identify these groups so we can stop all the treatment contradictions...
When you get infected with a respiratory virus, you trigger a specific response by the immune system. The tissues talk to the immune system... When you getย viral respiratory infection, the it triggers the immune system to make cytotoxic T cell (TH1) response,ย which clear out virus infected cells, and after it cleared out viral infected cells, if there was enough stimulus, it may then tell T cells to switch toย TH2 modeย and then they will generate B cells that createย antibodies.ย So antibodiesย don't actually FIGHT infections. Theyย prevent dissemination when something comes back and infects you again.
But there's aย big problemย with this b/c theย T-helper cells are always being forced to chooseย between going down the TH1 route and making cytotoxic T-cells that fight infection, or going the TH2 route to make antibodies.
Immune system is assessing: how many different tissues are infected here? When only one tissue is infected: cytotoxic T-cells are best because they're not invading all tissues.
But: if the virus gets loose in the bloodstream and starts ending up inย many different tissues,ย those tissues start reporting thatย they need TH 1 cells everywhere, then the T-cells will go down TH2 route to make antibodies to prevent spread. They may have to sacrifice the lung to do it,
Problem; when you're first exposed to pathogenย system wide, like when you get "vaccinated", you may well convince T-helper cells that theย NEXT timeย they contact their antigen theyย go IMMEDIATELY to produce antibodies and don't make T-helper cells (or less of them).
Now the problem is that if you get another local infection (like inhaling Covid virus, second exposure), the lung tissue starts to get infected,ย it activates the immune system which does NOT send adequate cytotoxic T-cells,ย it just starts making antibodies. Those antibodies are great at preventing the virus from getting out of the lung and going somewhere else,ย but they actually let the lung get MORE infected than it would have had it not been vaccinated and could have mounted a proper cytotoxic T-cell response.
So now the lung gets sicker, puts out more inflammatory cytokines which doubles down on the reaction and now you have aย VICIOUSย feedback loopย which makes the immune systemย do something that is not effective at getting rid of infected tissues.
This happened with theย RSV vaccine in the 1960sย where there was a placebo controlled trial and where moreย kids died in the
