A list of puns related to "Immune Gamma Globulin"
I used to travel often to tropical countries and would always be given an injection of gamma globulin as a protective against whatever disease I might meet up with there. Iirc, the injection lasted for 3 months. Am I wrong in thinking gamma globulin boosts the immune system against all diseases?

I cut myself on a dirty car rug (idk how but i felt a sharp slice and then minimal blood) that did have exposure to soil (via shoes tracking in dirt and foliage). The cut was superficial, but I noticed that I was not up to date with my booster of tetanus. I did have the childhood vaccines and a booster 13 years ago. I went to my local Walmart and got a TD shot, but wondering if I need the immune globulin as well.
After going to the rheumatologist, blood work shows high count of globulin levels. Gamma globulin at 2.2, total globulin 4.2. Dr. Said this was concerning and will be sending me to hematology. Was wondering if anyone else has noticed high globulin levels in the blood work before?
Has anyone here had high gamma globulin? Can you shed some light because itβs freaking me out. My gamma globulin is 1.80 with 1.51 being the cut off.
So far Iβve had high gamma globulin, high globulin, low lymphocytes, borderline high sed rate, low eosinophils, & low albumin/globulin ratio.
ANA came back negative, rheumatoid factor came back negative, TB is negative, and all hepatitis is negative.
Iβm not sure what to make of this and searching it up only says cancer or autoimmune disorder, so Iβm going to avoid google. Haha.
I already have hashimotos disease and also PCOS + insulin resistance.
So many of my symptoms overlap that I donβt even know whatβs what anymore.
Someone please ease my mind. π₯²
Immune Globulins are injections that are used to treat immunodeficiency disorders.
Iβm a patient of Dr. Levine (pretty vanilla CFS, started with EBV/mono, going on about four years now, just started seeing Dr. Levine about two months ago, no real treatment before that), and she recently started me on GamaSTAN (intramuscular immune globulin). Took my first 2 mL dose yesterday. Of people whoβve tried this, what was your experience?
Of the other treatments sheβs given me (LDN, Famciclovir, Meloxicam, and a bunch of supplements, in that order), I would say only the LDN had an obvious effect. Very positive (woke up feeling actually rested, heart pounding, after just 9 hours of sleep a few times, mostly right after starting on 0.5 mg...definitely faded since then), but it has worn off a bit.
Are there any resources as to which vaccine is safest / most effective for afflicted with this? What precautions should be made post vaccination and are the vaccine(s) effective?

Hi all - Not sure if this is even the right place to post this but I'm struggling to figure out what's going on with me. I've been sick for a while. Just super tired, sore, numbness, tingling, etc. Been seeing numerous doctors over the last few months with no firm answers. I was diagnosed with thyroid disease but have been on medication and it seems to have corrected my thyroid issue - which is fantastic but I still feel sore and tired and numb and the doctors think there is something else going on. Anyway, I'm waiting for numerous doctor's appointments to investigate my fatigue and pain. In the meantime I did a bit of my own work looking at my lab tests. I noticed that I had a previous serum proteins test that had a note on it that said they had located an "ill defined band in the gamma globulin region". The lab recommended further investigation of serum immunoglobulins and immunofixation electrophoresis but my doctor did not do that. While I generally try to avoid being Dr. Google, I have seen some results that mention Multiple Myeloma. Should I be concerned about this "ill-defined band"? Is it something I should ask my doctor to follow up on?
My mother (67F) was tested for a gamma globulin deficiency and we were given the below results. It sounds like the doctor doesn't think anything needs to be done about it but also says she did not respond well to the given vaccine and that she has an antibody deficiency. What does this all mean? Is her immune system compromised even though she's never had any major issues in the past? We're especially concerned about the vaccines comment with the COVID vaccine coming. Does this mean her body won't respond well to it? It seems like a very complicated result that we just don't feel clear on at all. Any help or advice for what this means for my motherβs future will be incredibly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
"S.PNEUMOCOCCAL IGG,23 MAID Note to Patient To review: you have no prior history of immune problems but you were noted to have a decreased IgA (39), decreased IgM (35) and an IgG of 400 mg/dl. Clinically you feel well and were surprised to hear there were any problems. Your lymphocyte panel (cells involved in the immune response) does not show any significant abnormalities. Your response to a tetanus shot, received in the past, was good.
Your antibodies to the pneumococcal serotypes were low and you were vaccinated with the Pneumovax vaccine. Your post immunization lab values did not change appreciably, in other words your body did not produce a good immune (antibody response) to this vaccination.
The immune system has multiple layers and redundancy. I believe that you do have a low immunoglobulin state and what we call a specific antibody deficiency (your failure to respond to the Pneumovax vaccine).
As you are healthy and without a history of repeated respiratory and sinus infections, there is no need to do anything with you at this time besides 1) on a yearly basis recheck your immunoglobulin levels to make sure they are not decreasing further and 2) I will ask your primary physician to give you the other pneumonia vaccine Prevnar. This vaccine will give your immune system a "boost" to protect you against pneumococcal pneumonia, the most common out of the hospital pneumonia.

Anyone receive this line of treatment? Thoughts? Side effects? Benefits?
Iβm a college student and this is my first biology class. I have a biology experiment project that I need to finish very soon but Iβm still not sure if the absorbance values Iβm getting make sense or not. Please help thanks.
I was recently diagnosed with Sjogren's B and Low Gamma Globulin (which is the opposite of what usually happens with Sjogren's). Thanks to insurance restrictions, I have a lousy rheumatologist and I'm not even convinced that's the right doctor to see. Low gamma globulin can lead to lymphoma so I'm a bit unnerved and unsure what to do next. Two questions that I would super appreciate some guidance on:
I have an allergist who's also an immunologist (I have lousy environmental allergies). Should I see her?
The rheumatologist prescribed Plaquenil. Anyone here have any good or bad stories to share? Should I even be taking this with the low gamma globulin?
So grateful that this sub exists and it looks like there's some great support on here. Thanks so much in advance.
