A list of puns related to "Howlin' Wolf"
When it comes to playing lead guitar and taking solos, here are some common struggles that so many students run into:
-How to I find the combinations that sound good within the scale patterns
-How do I make my solos not sound like scales
-Being more melodic and less βpentatonic scaleβ sounding.
Scales are important to know as a primer for understanding some theory, and how things work, but once you get the basic boxes down, of which there are typically 5, then you need what I call vocabulary in those boxes. This is where you start making music with those notes, instead of just running the patterns up and down.
Getting some vocabulary together would help solve all three of those above questions.
Here's the thing though the first time I tried to do this it didn't sound that great. I found out that I just wasn't going to play an amazing lick or solo on my own. First I needed to steal some ideas from the greats.
If you do this you will get there faster. What you want to do is learn some licks and melodies from famous recordings.
So that is what I am going to show you in this video we'll dive into 3 EPIC blues licks that are all right out of the pentatonic/blues scale in the key of E.
These licks are note-for-note from the beginning of Howlin' Wolf's "Back Door Man."
If you haven't heard this recording check it out on YouTube it has over 11 million views! Wolf starts off the song doing a little rant about the blues, and then he says, "I'ma show you how to play the blues, now you just sit here and watch me" then he plays these 3 licks that give me the chills every time!

Extremely excited to have another batch of Soviet LPβs up for grabs. I have a few boxes from friends out there that are sitting in customs or outright missing, so while I really hope this isnβt the case, this may be the last stack of these I can sell before 2022 (fingers crossed they make their way here!). I mentioned in my last post that prices are getting much much higher for all of this, which is a bummer, but Iβm trying to keep this list priced as close to my last one as possible. With very few exceptions the prices are not getting bumped as much as they probably should be.
Shipping is $5 flat

ΠΡΠ°Π²ΠΎ - "Bravo Ensemble" (Russia, 1987) - Another late 80's new wave record from the USSR. This group is most famous for their first single, "Koshki", which is very sought after and definitely a highlight of 80's new wave in Russia. It's great and it makes sense that people desperately want a copy. From a quirky Bangles/B-52's sounding band (right down to the downtempo later Bangles songs) to this LP there really isn't much change. This LP is not all-hits, but there are songs. It still has that west-coast new wave sound, the female vocals (which would unfortunately not carry on through their career), and the poppy sound that a lot of those groups were going for. I love the obscure California single by the band Alisa called "I Wanna Be a Prostitute" and for some reason, this LP has songs that remind me a lot of those songs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubuaUzxabmE $12
~~Π‘Π°ΠΌΠΎΡΠ²Π΅ΡΡ - βΠ‘Π°ΠΌΠΎΡΠ²Π΅ΡΡβ - Not sure I can accurately capture everything I love about this record and this band. This is the 10-song version of this LP (in classic soviet-style, there are songs censored for this release) which has all the hits. There are straight up rockβnβroll in the vein of first wave beat groups like the kinks, but just as many fast-paced almost-funk and then of course, the group is mos
