So my fam is super evangelical Christian. Like, we have pastors, missionaries, deans of Christian collages, the works. My mother is my worst example of this gone wrong, in my mind. She is no longer about love and acceptance, but about judgment and the clique. Several of my other close relatives are the same. Not everyone, but enough that I’m really struggling with the religious aspect of the holidays at the moment. Whenever I hear an overly religious Christmas song or even some of the religious decorations I have been gifted over the years, I just kinda get uncomfortable and want it to go away. My mom gave my little ones a baby bible for their first Christmas last year and I have never been comfortable reading the mini stories in it to them, I just talk about the pictures. I finally put it away.
I know this is illogical and unfair. I’m not exactly atheist…. I’m more agnostic now. But I have seen so much hypocrisy and horrible behavior from people claiming to be Christian I am struggling to separate the actions from the good parts. And I know there are good parts. All those years of being raised religious will always be part of me and my story. I don’t hate it, I still honestly respect the idea of a god and think religion has its merits and can bring out the good in people and create community. I’m just struggling to feel comfortable with it at the moment and it’s a really strange and unexpected place for me.

I still think that Judy Garland have yourself a very Merry Little Christmas is the best version. It’s so sad but very hopeful that I love it.

Been here since the 25th and just got off and it’s still this way. Might be hard to notice but going in with this knowledge you can’t miss it. Near Alice you hear “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” and you hear “Through the Tulips” by Cinderella. Pinocchio as normal! Just kinda funny! Anyone else notice this?
