As the title says I’d like to throw the two options head-to-head. I’ve searched the forum and there’s a lot of fluff answers like “The HEMI sounds bad a**” Straight up - which did you go with, and why? I’m not going to be hauling too much, but still want to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth. What are your thoughts?
Has anyone rebuilt a gen 3 to around 450-475HP and how much were parts and labor if you had someone else do it

I currently have a 2019 ram classic bighorn. I really want something with a longer bed ( I currently have a 6.5 ft bed )
I can't seem to find any used Ram 2500 gassers with the 8 speed trans. The only REALLY good deal I have found on one, the carfax had like 10 recalls and showed the lifters had been replaced at 40k miles and a slew of other issues were corrected. Looked like a lemon honestly.
I won't be towing really at all, but I haul once a week about 1200 pounds. I also want a truck with a stock ride height higher than my current truck.
What is the overall opinion on these 4th gen 2500 gassers? Do they require premium, do they run good, are they as reliable as the 5.7 hemi, are they as comfy? I am willing to make some cosmetic and luxury sacrifices for a more capable truck, but i dont want to spend a shitload on maintenance. I have a work truck so this will mostly be used to haul my atv and kids around.
