I'm shocked - shocked - at my inability to locate Grand Guignol scripts. I own Richard Hand and Micheal Wilson's Exeter Performance Studies books, which contain ~21 translated scripts, but have been entirely unable to find anything outside of a catalogue of plays and a couple Dover Classics translations. I've scoured Google Scholar in english and french, but have been hampered by my terrrrrrrible french and research abilities.
Are the bulk of Andrรฉ de Lorde's & Oscar Mรฉtรฉnier's scripts just... gone? Is this the sort of thing that has gone undigitized, or are they simply lost to time?
God this episode had me on edge the whole time.
I thought the bomb threat and search was gonna be the highlight that drives this all home. But nope we got one bombshell bigger: the mysteries to all the murder-suicides have dropped!

Now whats gonna happen? Man i love this show. With all the good shows it had to compete against this season and last, i understand why itโs and under-the-radar show. But itโs really good.
The Grand Guinol was founded in 1894 by Oscar Mรฉtรฉnier. Mรฉtรฉnierโs goal was to use horror, brutatlity and grisly detail to inflict immense horror onto his audience. In other words, it was a form of realistic horror theatre. One time Mรฉtรฉnier tried to graphically reproduce an execution by guillotine but was stopped by the police. He is said to have measured the success of a play by the number of people who fainted during its performance. The special effects used in his production were so intense that it wasnโt hard to make people faint.
