A list of puns related to "Gbbo"
How well do yall think Sandi from bake off would do on taskmaster I think she would be great. She would charm Greg and Alex into just giving her points without doing anything and she would just also have the best prizes and ingenious way to do tasks IMO now over to the comments what do yall think?
I'm moving and one idea I had for building community is hosting a GBBO watch/bake party, where we watch the show and for the ambitious bring a treat from that weeks theme or the past weeks.
Has anyone done this? Any tips or considerations?
Hello all, I thought I'd put together a list of all contestants who have ever published a cookbook, and the general (almost-annual) GBBO cookbooks. This list is sorted by (UK) season, and then by first name. The books under each person is generally sorted by date of publication (most recent first). Upcoming cookbooks have the month listed next to their titles.
Spoiler tags are to hide their rankings in the seasons.
Hope someone finds this useful - please feel free to message me if there's a mistake/something missing.
I'd love to read your GBBO-cookbook reviews/wishlist in the comments too!

I'm so sad. The GBBO Masterclasses are no longer available on Netflix. Loved binge watching to see how they baked. Mary and Paul seemed to enjoy baking together and their banter was entertaining.
My sister introduced me to this show and Iβve absolutely fallen in love with it. We watched the season with Rahul! I want to watch from the beginning, but I saw that Netflix doesnβt have every season anymore, and I couldnβt get season 1 to play on PBS. Does anyone know where I can watch it from the beginning? I donβt care if I have to pay, I just would love to watch the very first season. Also, thereβs three different versions on Netflix: The Great British Baking Show: The Beginnings (is this the very first season), The Great British Baking Show Holidays, and then The Great British Baking Show.
Also, is anyone else absolutely in love with Noel? His humor is just amazing...I almost pissed myself laughing with his vegan week songπ
Title pretty much explains it.
I just got a pop up while watching Collection 4 that the last day to watch is April 6!
I canβt find any info about it leaving Netflix online. Anyone have any info???
Just watched the GPTD S4 quarterfinals. Spoilers followβ¦
Thereβs a big issue with these shows treatment of other cultures. Look, I know that GPTD celebrates many global pottery traditions, but letting go of the two potters who didnβt perfectly follow the brief (aka were uncomfortable with the blurred line between appreciation and appropriation β BOTH as members of traditionally stigmatized groups)β¦ makes me livid, especially following GBBOβs βJapanese Weekβ β wildly un-Japanese and therefore Orientalist to the most basic Google search.
I know Sal previously made Inupiat-themed pottery, so thereβs so weirdness there butβ¦
These shows need to be more thoughtful.
Good evening! The most wholesome baking show on TV is back for their annual round of celebrity specials in aid of Stand Up To Cancer. There will be 5 episodes over the next 5 weeks.
Hereβs a little summary of who weβll be seeing this week:
Daisy Ridley β Best known for being a Jedi in the final Star Wars trilogy, she has more importantly (and like every British actor) appeared in an episode of Casualty.
Rob Beckett β Stand up comic whoβs appeared on lots of comedy panel shows, and has big pearly whites.
Alexandra Burke β The winner of The X Factor way back in 2008. I completely forgot about her until composing this post. Her song Broken Heels brings back some strong school memories.
Tom Allen β Another stand up comic. Well known for his dapper suits, shiny head, and being gay (not an insult, that is genuinely what most of his stand up routines are about).
So there we go. Who do you think will win?
Good evening everyone, itβs week 10 of Bake Off and you know what that means; itβs the grand final!
Last week Peter flew. He got himself a sought-after Hollywood Handshake for his first bake, won the technical, and made an absolutely incredible showstopper. Unsurprisingly, he got Star Baker!
Yet again, Laura had a nightmare. Her technical was an absolute mess, but it was her showstopper that was the worst. Her nice thick chocolaty mirror glass ended up being a thin gravy-looking substance, and she went and split it all over the fucking side and floor with hapless abandon. Nightmare. However the good taste, coupled with Hermine fucking her showstopper up completely, meant Laura survived and HERMINE WENT HOME! WHAT THE FUCK. Still not over it.
Itβs sad that this is the final. Bake Off has gone way too quick this year, but itβs been lovely to have this beautiful bit of escapism from the horrors of COVID. Itβs been a really enjoyable series.
Our hosts remain the same, so letβs see the contestants stats:
Baker | Observations | Hollywood handshakes | Technical challenges won | Star baker crowns | Week eliminated |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Finalist Dave | Owns an irl doge! | - | 1 | 1 | - |
Hermine | - | 1 | 1 | 1 | Week 9 |
Finalist Laura | Theatre lover <3 | - | 1 | 1 | - |
Linda | Babka Queen | - | 2 | - | Week 5 |
Loriea | Too experimental | - | - | - | Week 1 |
Lottie | A bit βall over the placeβ | 1 | - | 1 | Week 7 |
Makbul | Wrongfully evicted | - | - | - | Week 2 |
Marc | One legged & great | - | - | 1 | Week 8 |
Mark | - | - | - | 1 | Week 6 |
Finalist Peter | A literal child | 1 | 3 | 2 | - |
Rowan | Eccentric but shit at baking | - | - | - | Week 3 |
Sura | Fly swatter and saboteur | - | 1 | - | Week 4 |
At the start of the series we all predicted who we thought would win. Here is a reminder of the results. By a narrow margin, we thought Peter would win. Were we correct? I hope so!
So I have been on a crazy binge session through all the seasons, and I have some feelings about the 2019 round that I am so conflicted on. I feel like, although Steph is a really good baker (I mean 4 times star baker? Ofc she is fantastic) but I feel like she is just...boring? I feel like there have been so many crazy bakes in the previous seasons, and I could always remember a distinct bake by the finalists bc they are so good. But with Steph, I feel like she never really did anything crazy? David, who ended up winning the thing, created the memorable 20βs tart which I absolutely adored. Even Alice really pushed herself. I just felt that overall, Steph always kinda stayed in her comfort zone and never pushed herself, and it got kinda boring.
Idk how do you guys feel?
Iβd love to see Brenden (s3) and Kim-Joy (s9).
Good evening everyone, and welcome to the first r/CasualUK Great British Bake Off live thread of 2020!
As we all know itβs been a bit of a shit year so far, so itβs great to have GBBO back. This yearβs series comes to us around a month later than normal, due to production delays caused by the event.
If anyoneβs interested, here is an article about how they produced Bake Off this year while battling with the various logistical issues and trying to film a show that looks as βnormalβ as possible during an abnormal time.
So without further ado, letβs meet everyone:
Noel Fielding is joined by a new hosting partner this year in the form of Matt Lucas. As ever, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will spend the following 10 weeks making us all immensely angry by sending our favourites home.
Dave, 30
A security guard from Hampshire whose non-baking interests include cars and taking his dog and cat for a walk. Looks fairly unassuming. I think heβll get pretty far.
Hermine, 39
No, her name isnβt the same as a certain main character in a beloved wizarding world. Hermine is an accountant (lol same) who has an βinfectiousβ laugh. I think she might get on my nerves a bit.
Laura, 31
A βdigital managerβ from Kent. She loves musical theatre (also same) and volunteers in her spare time. She looks smiley. Her being a fan of musical theatre already has her in my good books.
Linda, 61
This yearβs oldest contestant is Linda, a retirement living worker. Sheβs an older lady who willingly chose to appear on a baking show during a pandemic. She is too powerful for us to stop.
Loriea, 27
A diagnostic radiographer from Jamaica. Sheβs a key worker who got to take a sabbatical to appear on Bake Off. I wonder how many times theyβll thank her for her work during the pandemic.
Lottie, 31
Unfortunately for Lottie (who is a pantomime producer), I cannot see the name Lottie without thinking of th
Does anyone know where I can watch the holiday episodes of GBBO that for some reason arenβt on netflix? Iβm willing to pay for the episodes if thereβs a place to purchase them online. itβs driving me crazy knowing there are christmas episodes with some of my favorite past contestants that I canβt watch!
Thanks Netflix.
Good evening everyone, itβs week 9 of Bake Off! That means weβve reached the semi-finals!
Last week was quite the mixed bag. They started with mini cheesecakes which, like the brownie challenge earlier in the series, most of the bakers overcomplicated and ruined. They then made a disgusting looking suet putting with an ENTIRE LEMON in it for the technical, which they all failed at completely. They then made some beautiful jelly art cakes, although both Peter and Marc had a bit of a mare. Laura won the technical by being less shit than everyone else, and poor Marc was eliminated.
