A list of puns related to "Fire Lance"
Team games (3v3/4v4) really just get ruined by players bombing a wall and running 100 fire lancers through. I know some of you will say, you let china get to age 4 its your own fault, or fire lancers cost a lot of resources. But I don't want to rush every game, I like booming, I like long games with big battles, and I like playing Abbasid. The Abbasid land mark cannot be walled. All they do is blow a hole in a wall in literally one shot from their clock tower bombards, and stream 100 fire lancers through and straight for my landmark. If I have military units on the field fighting, I'm forced to delete them and try and reproduce all my units back at my base to defend, so the "they're expensive" argument is just nullified. I've even tried surrounding my house of wisdom with 6 upgraded forts and boiling oil, but as well as wasting ~6000 stone and ~2000 gold on forts and their upgrades, all it does is slow them down and doesn't actually stop it from working, all the need to do is send in a 2nd wave of lancers.
Its so unbelievably boring to play against, as it just turns in to a tower defense game where you are forced to be on the defense because the second you leave your base they will find somewhere to get in and end you. And god forbid you're against 2 Chinese players who are on voice chat together.

Saw the cheese, army was too far away...i was about to go "not like this...again" Priests managed to convince them otherwise!
(by the way as I look at the box there's actually a typo on it that says Cirect Fire!)
Anyway - new to the game, big time. I'm just curious, are the 4 mechs in this box a "viable" force to play with, or are they meant to be mixed into other mech types to make a more balanced lance? I think the thing that makes me ask that is the "direct fire" part of the box name. Like does that mean this is 4 of a certain kind of mech and wouldn't be a good idea to field them as one force?
They are
Atlas
Marauder 2
Orion
Crusader
A clan box came out at the same time (these seem to be a new release wave) so I guess I have a similar question for that box :)
SOLVED: I stored the hardpoints and then reattached them on different slots and that did the trick. Certainly seems to be a bug regardless, but I thought I had lost my mind! :)
Iβm relatively new to Elite and new on combat, so forgive me, but I do need help. I just bought a Fer de Lance and decided to take it out for a spin. I have tried firing the stock pulse lasers but all I get is a clicking noise. They worked very briefly when I retracted and deployed my hardpoints but that was it. They are fixed hardpoints and I have tried resetting them, changing the priority, and changing the fire groups, but they still wonβt fire. I have not changed anything in outfitting since the purchase, either.
Thanks for your help, commanders. o7
Trio: Tech
Class: Heavy Assault.
Health: 4,300.
Attack: As he attacks, a bar fills, when it is full, his weapon is overheated and must wait until it empties to attack again, the weapon cools when it isn't firing. Deals 700 damage per second.
Range: 8 tiles.
Ammo: Heat bar with 4 levels, over heats at 4 seconds.
Cool down speed: 3 seconds.
Speed: Slow.
Mini-Tanks: Each tank has 3,200 health, they stop to shoot missiles enemies within 5 tiles, dealing 800 damage per missile, and fire one every 2.5 seconds. They find enemies and travel at normal speed.
Super (Coordinates Received): Within two seconds after Lance marks where his super will attack, a laser strikes a 5 tile diameter for 5 seconds dealing 500 damage per second.
Gadgets:
Mini-Tank: A care package drops off a mini tank; can only have one tank at a time.
Thermal Discharge: The next time Lance's rifle overheats, he shoots a wider laser that deals 1,000 damage, breaks through walls, and travels 10 tiles.
Star Powers:
Heat Sink: Lance's rifle cools 1 second faster.
Prototype: Lance is using a lighter rifle, that deals 600 damage per second, but he travels at normal speed.

I hope this is not misinterpreted as advertisement. I got that lance box and looked at the mechs themselves only afterwards. I expected a bunch of long-range fire support to increase the variety of my collection, but one mech stood out to me and I'd like to share my thoughts on that. Maybe to find a thematic reason for its inclusion, maybe a lore reason. Beware though that I mainly look at the Alpha Strike/Introductory stats, so maybe something got lost in the simplification.
So this lance comes with the following mechs: A catapult, so some good-old fashioned itano circus and medium lasers as backup. Then there is the Trebuchet, which is a faster but lighter version of the Catapult. There is also a Dervish, with additional SRM. So far we got got three mechs in a similiar weight class with medium lasers and a variety of rockets. So far, so thematic.
And then there is the Banshee. 95 tons of basically just metal with a serious PPC, a somewhat serious autocannon/5 and a small laser pointer glued to its head. It just does not seem to fit in with the rest of the bunch. Very heavy, no rockets, and basically outdamaged by its smaller lancemates. It is not the slowest though, which would be the Catapult, so at least it can keep up.
Now I wonder why this mech got mixed up with this crew. It is not as shooty for its weight class as it could be. It is tanky though, so putting it forward with big red letters "shoot me" written on it sounds like a good way to protect the rest of the lance from incoming fire. Also, I suppose the Banshee makes a pretty good "Mother Bear". Any enemy coming to close gets clubbered down by the weight 4 attacks.
Ah yes, hands! This mech has hands, unlike the rest. So in a narrative setting the Banshee can even loot ressources or coudle their little babies if they get hit. I guess that image is now stuck in my head.
These are my thoughts on the inclusion, at least. I am not sure this makes a compelling discussion topic, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the strangeness of the Banshee within this lance. Maybe you can enlighten me more on that topic?
Thanks for your attention!
TL;DR Banshee big, but why no dakka?
Hey guys. I'm not even close to the skill level of some people I see on here.. I'm learning still especially about how to equip and what perks to take. Anyway what do you all think of the fire lance??
It's something I've been thinking about lately after playing a couple games and slowly chipping away at FE4.
Different pros and cons each weapon archetype can or cannot access must also be considered, meaning all the different skills, ranges and so on.
For the purposes of honesty and accuracy, if you haven't played certain games, mention them, but ignore them in your rankings obviously.
With that being said, harboring as much objectivity as possible, what are everyone's thoughts on the matter?
