If tether is actually worth less than advertised, and exchanges know it, doesn't that setup a financial incentive to manipulate the market to liquidate margin traders and collect tangible assets as collateral?

This isn't meant to be Tether fud, but the thought did dawn on me a few months back when it kept coming up how tether wasn't actually worth what it claims. If I was an exchange who just sank a bunch of money in this stable coin that I have found to actually be worth less than they claim, what would I do? Telling the public would trigger a sell off and my exchange is stuck with it. Removing tether as a trading pair sets off alarms and could also trigger a panic.

However, if I enticed people to take out loans from me, backed by tether, then I manipulated the market with some side accounts I control, I could issue tether as a loan but then collect something tangible as collateral when I liquidate my customers.

Exchanges traditionally have no incentive to do anything like this as they tend to deal with tangible assets in other markets, but with crypto being so new, and Tether being such a thorn due to it's potential for disaster, what if there was something going on here where exchanges were swapping out their tether for people's money before the shit hit the fan?

Why don’t more financial institutions or crypto exchanges embrace secure, two-factor authentication?

This one’s a head scratcher but all the patterns I’ve seen with every bank and crypto exchange minus a handful allow for secure, two-factor authentication as part of the overall login process and no I don’t consider private codes sent via SMS messages to be secure. Authenticator apps are nothing new and we use them to login to our email systems from time to time (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, the list goes on and on). I’ve seen more ridiculous use cases for them and even PayPal permits them. There’s also LastPass which I’m not going to get into too much but my point stands.

French Central Bank Completes First Stage of Its central bank digital currency Experiments!

The final stage of the first experiments consisted of the issuance of a digital bond on a blockchain with settlement in CBDC, which was conducted with numerous partners, including banking giant HSBC.
“The experiment successfully tested an end-to-end transactional lifecycle of digital assets,” Banque de France said Thursday. “All transactions occurred across different blockchain environments operated by HSBC for the custody of the assets, and by the Banque de France for the securities settlement and the CBDC.”
Central banks across the world are exploring the development of digital currencies, in part to address the decline in the use of cash just as interest in private cryptocurrencies is gathering steam. Exploration of wholesale CBDCs is, however, confined to a smaller group attempting to use a CBDC to address some of the inefficiencies and complications of exchanging central bank money between financial institutions.
A wholesale CBDC is a digital currency issued for use by financial institutions to exchange central bank-issued money. It is different from a retail CBDC, which is intended for use by the public as a form of digital cash.
