A list of puns related to "Electrostatic Induction"
Lets say you have two electrets being of opposite polarity to each other on a rotor ,180 degrees in orientation from each other. While they spin there are two induction plates, also in 180 degrees orientation, that are in close enough in proximity to the electrets to be induced by the charge while they spin and these induction plates are connected together in a circuit. Would this create a alternating current within that circuit and if so would the amount of current produced follow the law of electromagnetic induction and the relationship between voltage current and resistance?
OK I am far from knowledgeable in engineering or physics, so please forgive any glaring ignorances or stupid questions/comments. This is a somewhat strange questions, but any information would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to state that this is purely out of my own curiosity and that I do not require warnings of the dangers as I am just wanting to learn.
So basically I am wondering if there is a way to feasibly engineer a device that can mimic the effects of eletrostatic buildup in a person via induction. I am basically thinking of something that is somewhat small, attaches to the skin and allows a person to indefinitely discharge static buildup (at least as long as power allows). Of course I am assuming safe levels for human tolerance. I have read about Van De Graaff and Wimshurts Machines but they seem to be a bit large and don't seem to conduct through a person in the way I am thinking of.
If this is possible, what volt levels are safe for the average person? Are there ways of increasing the visual effects of sparks during discharge? A strange question but I am eager to hear what kind of things are possible. Thanks in advance.
I wanted to write a comprehensive post on how Fusion Rifles work. Whilst we currently lack the technology to create portable fusion rifles of our own there are real life examples of fusion technology that we can see as inspiration for these weapons.
A fusion rifle is essentially a high-power directed energy weapon with a short charge cycle. It uses a miniature and portable fusion reactor both to power and fuel it's payload. There are several components that work in tandem within a fusion rifle in order to produce devastating lethality.
But before we continue lets understand what "fusion" is.

Fusion is a type of sustained nuclear reaction that produces energy. It can be thought of the opposite of conventional nuclear power otherwise known as nuclear fission.
Nuclear Fission
In nuclear fission, heavy elements like Uranium are chemically made unstable so that they radioactively decay and split into lighter elements like Barium and Krypton. This reaction also releases a lot of energy and sets off a nuclear chain reaction. The word fission means "to split" and that is exactly what happens. We can witness its controlled effects in

Now that Stasis is finally being reigned in, I figured I'd take a stab at adapting the light-based subclasses to a Stasis-esque Aspect and Fragment system. A few months ago, I proposed a number of QoL improvements to Light-based subclasses, including unique status effects and ability tweaks.
The purpose of this post is to adapt the Arc subclasses to an Aspect and Fragment system while preserving existing gameplay loops and subclass identity.
Feel free to jump to whichever section interests you, but I strongly recommend you start with Status Effects first.
Arc could offer Electrify, Surge, and Blind. Arc would be unique in that it synergies with any element. However, this comes at the cost of not having access to team heals or support supers. It focuses on spreading all forms damage, including other elements.

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
Well, toucan play at that game.

Hi Everyone, happy 2021 and good riddance to 2020!
We (the moderation team) are working on updating the wiki with better guides and resources. With that in mind, I've put together the wiki in this thread, and would like your help in improving it.
Please post any robotics questions you have, and any recommended resources, in the comments. They can be career, educational, technical, beginner or expert. I'll be updating this post based on the comments, so it's a work in progress.
#How to get started in Robotics
This will be difficult. Robotics is the combination of a variety of skills (Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science etc), none of which are easy themselves.
Don't work alone. We highly recommend working as part of a team; you're more likely to succeed, and you'll have more fun with friends.
Start small. When making your first robot, follow a guide to build something that someone else has already done. Keep it as simple as possible. Once you succeed, then you can expand and make it better.
Do your research. It will help you make a better robot, it will help you solve problems before you hit them, it will save you money, it will save you time. Especially when you are starting out, every problem you encounter will have been solved by others countless times, and there's probably a great answer to your question online.
Document your work. Keeping a logbook full of notes, diagrams, a to do list, will all help you remember what your were last working on, and help you solve problems. Taking photos and videos will be great for your social media, career portfolio, and are fun to look back on years later.
Keep it simple.
Budget your cost. Total up the cost of all the electronics, software, materials etc you'll need, then double it. The more robots you build, the better you'll get at pricing them. But seeing as you're new, expect to make mistakes. Mistakes are good because you learn from them! But they can often be expensive, when you need to replace parts.
Budget your time. Build your robot asap. A robot is an ongoing development process. You build it, test it, modify it, test it... until your deadline. Too many times have I seen (and been a part of) teams who spend far to long designing and prototyping brilliant ideas, only to leave themselves with no time to actually build the thing and make it work. So build your robot as soon as you can, then start coming up wi

Cred once again my sis wants credit lol
Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
Edit: Thanks for all the awards, kind strangers! I'll let my son know y'all enjoyed his joke too!
I heard parents named their children lance a lot.
