A list of puns related to "Ectropion"
Hi there, I am 28 years old and have been spotting brown/old blood every single month at the same time (about a week-week and a half before my period) for over a year. I have been off birth control for almost 3 years now and my periods are very regular and predictable. I do get cramps that can sometimes be pretty bad and my periods can be heavy, and I have dealt with ovarian cysts a few times since I was a teenager.
Anyway, I recently went to the OBGYN about all of these concerns as my husband and I are trying to conceive. He did a Pap smear and pelvic exam, which were both normal but said that I have extra tissue around my cervix (cervical ectropion) and that could be the cause of my spotting. He sent me for an internal ultrasound just to be safe and that was also normal. My OBGYN doesnβt think anything hormonal is going on because I have very regular periods.
So my question is - has anyone else experienced spotting at the same exact time every single month? I have looked up extra cervical tissue and it definitely can cause spotting but I can not find anyone talking about it being at the same time every month. Itβs like clockwork and sometimes lasts for a few days, and itβs always brown/old blood. Itβs almost like getting a mini period and I always know when it will happen. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar experience. Thank you!
Iβve read a few threads where people have had cervical ectropion because they were on the pill but has anyone noticed it AFTER they stopped taking the pill?
I was on the pill for years, prior to beginning sexual activity as well, so I feel like the pill mightβve tempered the ectropion until I stopped taking it earlier this year (it is used as treatment for it so I feel like thats logical right?)
Anyway after I stopped the pill at the beginning of the year, a few months later I started bleeding heavily after sex - any kind of penetration seems to trigger it really (vibrator, thrush applicator, during Pap smears etc). My gynecologist says I have βmoderateβ ectropion and has got me on a short progesterone cycle for two months and then maybe back on the pill, depending on how I go.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience coz Iβm not sure if I should push for one of the other treatment methods because it has been months and months now and itβs reeeeeally frustrating.
Hi so Iβm 25 and months ago, for the first time, I had experienced this extremely uncomfortable feeling during intercourse. Like a sharp pain in a specific spot. A month or so ago I went to my obgyn and was told I had cervical ectropion. It should be noted that Iβm not pregnant nor on hormonal bc (I have a copper iud). My doctor said itβs nothing to worry about and my pap turned out to be normal. However should I bother with treatment? Everywhere Iβve looked there isnβt a clear answer on how long it takes to go away on its own. Iβve seen that it goes away after pregnancy or birth control but I cannot relate. And itβs making me really worried that I just wonβt be able to have sex anymore because itβs pretty painful. Iβm also in a place where I can not financially swing any kind of operation. Apparently itβs really common so any advice would be appreciated.
Hi guys! I found out two months ago, that I have cervical ectropion, and the gyno said that they won't perform an IUD insertion on me like this. But I have my doubts, as she also said that I can't get one because I haven't given birth before, and we all know that's not true anymore. So my question is, is it really the case that I can't get an IUD, or was my gyno just a bit outdated and I should ask another one?
Has anyone had success using silver nitrate to cauterize your cervix to treat your cervical ectropion? Specifically, did it stop you from bleeding during sex. Iβm considering it because the bleeding is very bothersome so would like to hear others experiences thanks.
So Iβve (23F)been dealing with severe cervical ectropion likely caused by being on oral hormonal birth control for at least the last three years. Itβs been getting worse, to the point I bleed heavily for days after penetrative sex and after Pap smears. The pain is starting to get annoying, and Iβm spotting so much I might as well go back to having irregular periods.
I went to the doctor four separate times for this issue and they just treated me for STDs even though I never tested positive and only participated in safe sex. Because all womenβs health problems in college aged girls boil down to βpromiscuityβ it couldnβt possibly be anything else right? I wasnβt able to find another provider in network who took me seriously until recently who finally affirmed that I had the worst case of cervical ectropion sheβs ever seen (still waiting for pap to come back, but sheβs fairly certain).
Doc wanted to try switching me to the ring, but I am so sick of this I think Iβm just going to get off the hormones altogether after 8 years of being on it.
What kinds of symptoms can I expect coming off the pill after being on it for so long? I started it right after my first period so I never really got the full natural hormone cycle experience. Also has anyone else had cervical ectropion resolve after stopping hormonal contraception? I want to make sure Iβm not doing this for nothing.
I was diagnosed with a cervical ectropion 2 years ago as a result of my seasonal birth control Iβve been on for 9 years. I was diagnosed the first time after I bled a LOT for 2 days after having sex and then having on/off pain. Since then itβs been more manageable but on Friday I had sex with my boyfriend and had to stop from the pain/discomfort. Since Saturday/Sunday Iβve been having kind of beigey pink discharge (no smell) with some blood. No sign of it stopping today and I just passed what looked like a blood clot of discharge. Is that normal for this to be continuing on this long? I do have mild cramping pain along with it. My partner isnβt that big so I donβt think he was just ramming my cervix the whole time but maybe??
So I just logged into my NHS app and found an entry saying that I have ectropion of the cervix and it's significant. I went to the hospital for a colposcopy a few weeks ago and the doctor didn't mention it at all. I have no other symptoms aside from bleeding during/after sex. I'm not currently too bothered about this but I was just wondering how I should tell my future partners about it? I obviously don't want it to be a surprise after intercourse or for them to think that something is wrong. I had a previous partner (before I knew I had the ectropion) that wasn't very kind whenever we had sex and I bled.
iβve been told i have cervical ectopy and iβve got an appointment for cryotherapy on tuesday. if anyoneβs been through the treatment, what was your experience and what were your side effects. i cry everytime i have to have a speculum inserted, even the smallest one possible was so painful. also iβve got severe emetophobia so iβm terrified itβll make me sick or nauseous haha. any advice would be great <3
Hey all, I wanted to share my experience with Cervical Ectropion as I've never read about it on any of the message boards and I think it might be helpful. At 5-6 weeks, I noticed very light spotting the day after a three-hour hike. Hiking is part of my life and I thought it would be fine, but this scared me so much I haven't gone since. Told the OB and they weren't concerned and set my first appointment at 8 weeks. Fast forward to 16 weeks where I experienced the same thing two days in a row. Day 2, I called the OB and they scheduled me to come in the next day. I was so stressed and worried, had my partner do the Googling to avoid intensifying my worry. At the appointment, my OB used a swab and showed us the light-pink color explaining this was Cervical Ectropion - common, especially with pregnancy due to more estrogen and more blood flow to the cervix. She checked all the scary things to rule them out and all is good.
tldr Light spotting turned out to be a very common condition called Cervical Ectropion. I'm thankful I called my OB and got everything checked out, but definitely wanted to share with the community to hopefully ease the worry of anyone experiencing the same.
Hi!
I've (F30) been on combined birth control on and off since I was 17. Mostly Yasmin, but also another pill called Marvelon and the Nuva ring.
I'd been having problems with bleeding during sex and spotting and finally got diagnosed with a cervical ectropion. I was told that estrogen in the combined pill can cause this and after stopping Yasmin a few months it was fixed.
I now started the mini pill (Cerazette) as it is progestin only. It's been almost two months and I have been experiencing really bad anxiety and mood swings ever since I started. (Also bleeding and spotting 75% of the time since I started, but I heard that's normal during the first months).
I really don't know what to do, I feel like I'm running out of options. I thought I could try change to a hormonal IUD to see if things improve as I heard it is less hormones as it is more local. I'm not suitable for the copper one due to heavy periods and period pain. Or perhaps I should completely stop for a month or two and see if my symptoms improve (to be completely sure the pill is causing them) but then again I don't want to use condoms with my SO or risk pregnancy.
Really grateful if anyone has had similar experiences they can share or advice!
Hi! Just got diagnosed with a cervical ectropion after a year of bleeding A LOT when having sexual intercourse. I know itβs pretty common but mine is huge itβs why I was bleeding that much.
Anyone had that and how did you get treated?
Thanks! (Please be kind I have a lot of anxiety!)
Hi all. Just wanted to know what syntpoms people get with their ectropion? I don't get bleeding after sex like some people but I get like a yellow mucus discharge and vaginal irritation. Particularly a feeling of itchiness up there. Does anyone else get that?
Hi everyone,
Just a guest as I'm currently TTC, but was wondering if any of you have any experience with having an ectropion cervix before you got your bfp?
I was told by my ob in August that I have a cervical ectropion after consistently spotting for a week before my period. She said it should have no impact on my fertility but I can't help feel like I'm out each month when i start spotting.
Has anyone had any experience with this? If so, did you spot before getting your bfp?
Thanks on advance!
It was hard to notice a pattern during quarantine because my sex life slowed down, but Iβve been having some degree of bleeding during (not after) sex for over a year now (Iβm 20). Went to the doctor and was told I have large, delicate vessels on my cervix and also signs of or what looks like cervical ectropion (she wasnβt really clear if she was diagnosing me with it or not). Apparently both are normal conditions and she treated me with silver nitrate to cauterize the areas prone to bleeding (the other treatment options were not appetizing nor did they promise results, such as replacing my iud- Iβd already had an ultrasound to confirm it was in the right place, and I didnβt want to adjust to the hormone shift of a new one I mean talk abt irregular bleeding). And she just sent me on my way like βokay yup thereβs nothing wrong with youβ. Except that I still bleed during sex. It started out not being a problem, just spotting during sex w a long term partner. But now itβs escalated to mild discomfort with an alarming amount of blood (about the same as my entire period, which is generally light but still is a lot when itβs all at once). Iβm no longer with the aforementioned partner, which makes it especially inconvenient and embarrassing when it happens unexpectedly with a new guy.
All of this to say, well is this my life now? Does anyone have experience w cervical ectropion and could share how long it took theirs to resolve (it supposedly goes away)? Iβm not having much sex rn because of the pandemic and I donβt want to anyways for other reasons but I donβt like the feeling of not having the ability to choose to have normal sex. Also very frustrated that my doctor diagnosed me and acknowledged this as a common condition, but sent me home with no effective treatment for the one and only symptom I came in with. There has to be other women who this just doesnβt sit right with? I found a few old threads with similar stories but nothing active so I figured Iβd share mine here. Sorry I just needed a rant but if anyone has any advice Iβd appreciate it.
Hello fellow hooha havers!
A few months ago during a colposcopy it was discovered that I have cervical ectropion. In September I have an appointment to have it cauterized. Questions for anyone who has experienced this:
What kind of symptoms did you have?
How was the experience of having it cauterized? Was there any recovery time?
What kind of cauterization did you have? From what Iβve read there are 3 that are typically used: heat, cryotherapy and silver nitrate.
Any info, or if you have advice for me for prepping for my appointment I would appreciate it! It sounds a lot scarier than it probably is, but I canβt help feeling nervous.
Hello. So I went to my gyno recently and just got my pap smear results back. Everything's okay except that I have reactive changes in the cells that are related to inflammation. She gave me vaginal tablets for that. But I also have cervical ectropion that's about 0.6 inches in diameter that slightly bleeds when touched.
So she recommended that if the vaginal tablets don't help with my discharge that I could do cryotherapy and treat it that way. I want to know should I do this? I've been dealing with discharge for years now. Plus sex is kinda painful and I'd like to not wear daily pads anymore, I've been wearing them for a long time.
My gyno is wonderful and she did explain everything, I'd just like to know are there any benefits to treating it and if someone had a similar experience.
Thanks a lot.
Hi I'm new here :) After worrying for years I finally found out this week at the obgyn that the reason I bleed after sex, after masturbation and even just when constipated is because I have cervical ectropion. Cryotherapy was not suggested for me, and even if it was I don't think I would go for it right now because I'm only 20 and the bleeding/pain is really nothing more than a nuisance and a bit of an insecurity.
Does anyone have any tips/lessons learned through experience of dealing with surprise bleeding? If you were me, would you buy period underwear, stock up on panty liners or resign yourself to never wearing white again?
I expect that frequent unpredictable bleeding (and bbq sauce/ old blood discharge) will be a part of my life for some time so I'm just trying to find some ways to feel more confident with my body instead of seeing myself as faulty and gross. TIA
Hi I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some advice or let me know about their experiences.
I (23 F) had a pelvic exam yesterday and was told by my doctor I have what she thinks is cervical ectropion because Iβve been on and off birth control for the last 7 years, and have been taking it consistently for the past 9 months (with a few breaks for periods here and there). I had no symptoms, no weird bleeding / pain / unusual discharge or anything, she just noticed it when she had a look up there.
However, she is referring me for a colposcopy to check that itβs not abnormal cells / cervical cancer β this really freaked me out and i literally started sobbing on the phone to her (had to have a phone consultation after the exam because of coronavirus).
My mum recently lost her mum to cancer and my cousin has just been diagnosed with cancer so I really donβt want to bring up the possibility of the c word and stress her out unnecessarily so I donβt really have anyone to talk to about this. In the UK we canβt get smears / Pap tests until we are 25 so none of my friends have had colposcopies or had to deal with any of this.
I read a few horror stories about colposcopies online (bad idea I know) which have terrified me, the idea of needing a biopsy literally makes me feel sick.
If anyone knows how likely it is to be cervical ectropion over pre cancerous cells id be grateful to know, also if anyone has any advice about colposcopies!
Thanks so much
I bleed during sex every time and it sucks so much to the point where I feel so insecure about sex now. I was diagnosed with cervical ectropion five years ago and told it would go away. I finally went to the doctor for treatment and she recommended boric acid. Tried it but didnβt work. Has anybody tried cauterization? Was it painful? Helpful?
Hi guys, I had sex for the first time about a month and a half ago. I've had sex about three times since now and have bled a little bit each time. The first time I bled for about 2 days and then the second time was for a few hours. The third time, there was a little bit of spotting so the bleeding has been diminishing. He said there was a little bit of blood on the condom. It did hurt initially when he penetrated but then afterwards it didn't hurt as much. I noticed it would hurt whenever he went deep inside, especially when he hit my cervix.
I went to the gyno and she saw my cervix was a little bit inflamed. It was pretty uncomfortable when she did the smear on my cervix. There was discharge but no blood.
I had done a pap smear months earlier and results were normal. She said it could be cervical ectropion and said if it really bothered me, then I could get treatment to get the cells frozen. She also said using lube next time could help and that my cervix probably isn't used to it yet.
I'm a little hesitant about having sex now because of the pain and am wondering if it would be worth getting them frozen or if it will go away on its own once my cervix gets used to it. I'm afraid the treatment process is also painful :(
Does it go away with age? Does it tamper with their way of life?
Hi,
Female, 27, UK, average height and weight (BMI under 30), take only the combined contraceptive pill and don't smoke or drink.
I'm looking at getting an IUD/IUS to replace a long stint on the pill. About 4/5 years ago, I was experiencing some bleeding during sex and the gynacologist diagnosed cervical ectropion, I had it cauterised and have been problem free since. I have been sexually active for the last 2 years and cannot recall any bleeding in that time (except the expected).
When researching IUD's, it says that it might not be suitable for people who have problems with your womb or cervix.
Do you think that my ectropion would affect that? I've got a dr appt booked anyway, I just wanted to try and do some research/make a decision before.
Thank you!
I have just come off of the combined pill (Ovranette) which I have been on for just over 4 years. I'm coming off as I've got an ectropion causing me to bleed after sex (sorry for TMI). I've already received treatment for it (cauterizing with silver nitrate) but I have been told it won't last forever and the only long-term solution is to come off the pill entirely. Due to this, I am considering switching to the copper IUD (I don't want one that contains hormones as they cause me to gain weight). However, I loved being able to control my periods on the pill and knowing exactly when it was coming and how long for was so convenient. My period before the pill was quite heavy and irregular and rumour has it that the IUD can cause your period to be even heavier and longer so I don't know if I could manage it. Anybody had a similar experience or any advice?? For context, I'm 21 years old, have only ever used Ovranette as a form of contraception and have only had one sexual partner for the last 4 years. Thank you !!!

I got treated in September for a cervical ectropion but am now bleeding after sex again, is it common for the condition to come back?
