A list of puns related to "Eastwards"
Iβm a big fan of Earthbound and Iβve heard that Eastward gives off some of those vibes. Is Eastward worth picking up while it on sale? Also how is the Switch version?
Context: Putin gave a press conference 12/23/2021 and basically said: "What is unclear? Russia wants immediate guarantees that NATO will not expand eastward."
Obviously he's specifically talking about a unilateral guarantee of permanent moratirum for Ukraine and Georgia ever being able to join the NATO alliance.
My question is, how likely is it that NATO would cave to this demand? And a follow up question would be, would this even work to deter Russian aggression against Ukraine if it were offered? Ukraine is a sovereign country, should NATO really entertain the idea of a different nation deciding its foreign policy?
I'm curious if the NATO leadership sees a Russian invasion as likely, and if they would view the offering of guarantees to prohibit Ukraine and Georgia's membership as a legitimate diplomatic solution?
Why was Sam/Mother found in a wrecked train in Potcrock Isle?
The slimes/slugs - are they made/produced by of the same material as whatever the clones are encased in? This seems to be implied by the fact that multiple large slugs can be seen when John finds Sam (intro and dream sequence) and by the fact that Alvaβs grandfatherβs research involved producing this slime.
How does Sam's presence in an area trigger the miasma? Is it Solomon that starts the factories upon Mother's orders (e.g. like on the Monkollywood train)?
Did Sam/Mother sabotage New Dam City's defences, or was that Solomon?
Why did Old Solomon trap Ester City in a loop to protect it and why were the younger Solomons doing the opposite?
How did he survive the destruction of the time field when everyone else turned to dust?
Why were the original Rocket Knights crew helping you destroy the time field if it was the only thing preventing the miasma from destroying the world? Did they want Charon to arrive now that Mother had returned? Wouldnβt they know this would result in everything getting killed by the miasma? Or were they okay with it because they saw that Mother had become Sam?
Presumably the Rocket Knights were the ones that ferried Sam/Mother away, but how did she even come into their possession? Why did she have a different personality when she was with them?
Why were the Rocket Knights so old if they were trapped in the time field? Why do some things seem to age and others not while in the time field (the game seems to indicate, for example, that Ivan's diary notes and research remains even through each day restarting)? Why are the people in the time field able to remember anything at all if they're trapped in a damn time field?!
What did the time field even do, considering it's intention was to trap Charon but the miasma was seemingly spreading without Charon anyways? Why was Charon even supposed to arrive in Ester City - did they have a hand in creating it? Was the whole Rocket Knight crew involved in creating the time field or only Solomon?
What did Alva have to do with the miasma, if anything?
Are blue and red Sam two *different* physical beings or are they two personalities wiithin a single body, because the game seems to indicate different things here at different times? At what point does Sam get replaced (possessed?) by Mother leading up to her entering Charon at the top of the Eternal Tower?
Captain Pam says that *two* princesses were hidden away, one with the

But damn this game was such a fun ride. The combat can be a little irritating at times depending on the monsters but the puzzles were decent and upgrades were on point never giving you that underpowered feeling. However the music and the story really drive this one home. It's incredible mysterious and intense all at once and when you finally beat the game you are left with that "what do I do now" feeling.
Such a great game I would highly recommend.
Edit:. I just wanted to add something about the story since there seems to be a lot of disappointment with this title. A lot have said the pacing was bad but maybe they just dont remember that there is no quest to save the world for our protagonists. They basically were sent away from their home and exiled from the first area. The next 2 areas are them trying to find a new place to live, but then disaster strikes. The real quest to be heroes didn't start till later in the game when the protagonists realize their role in the events that are taking place.
Im not trying to argue that everyone has to like it, it just seemed like a lot people expect the generic hero go save the world from the get go. That's why the game bounces back so much from chill text quests where you wander the level with little side quests and then back to the action.
Been sick with COVID and started up Eastward while stuck at home. This game has made this experience bearable. I have absolutely loved it so far - at the end of chapter 7 currently.
It is a 9/10 for me so far - I love all the dialogue personally. But I also play visual novels so this isnβt particularly abnormal. I also watch all the skits in Tales games, talk to all the villagers in any RPG, etc. I love exposition and just chilling with characters. It probably helps that Iβve had all the time in the world being sick so I havenβt felt any rush.
Iβve enjoyed the gameplay as well. Itβs excellent by old school standards but maybe not as advanced as some modern Zelda likes.
If the charm of the writing was just a bit more consistent, the characters felt a little more individual (many are written with a similar prose) and there were more open segments like chapter 3 this would be a 10 for me.
This is a spoiler free post which describes the gaming process without giving story clues. Any story information is spoiler-tagged.
I was hyped for this game's release and I got it day 1. But my patience is starting to wear out with the amount of dialogues, cut-scenes and generally the sluggishness of the game, which only looks to worsen as the game goes on.
A disclaimer, that the game is beautiful, OST is delightful, characters are quirky and the cutscenes are often humorous. Also, gameplay, when is there, is fun and works good. This is clearly a polished effort.
But the dialogue is too much. And not only that, the game is generally so slow, I almost feel it makes fun of the player.
Let me give you an example. I am currently in Chapter 3. My yesterday's session lasted more than 30 minutes, only with dialogues, cutscenes and walking. And the walking was "go from A to B to trigger cutscene, with smaller intermittent cutscenes in between as you stumble upon people on the way". Such a detailed and polished game with quirky characters and sprites, and I am so fed up with main story dialogues that I actively avoid speaking to more NPCs so I don't have even more than that.
The only gameplay chunk included backtracking to a place I've been before, get an item and take it back, only for the cutscenes to continue.
Today's session though was the cherry on top. Step by step, it went like this:
-need story item
-be in house in midtown
-go to item shop which is close to house
-item not there, shopkeeper sends you to downtown
-go to downtown, talk with the man
-cutscene with something that happens elsewhere
-you are transported back to house
-go to item shop again like nothing's happened
-still no item, sends you to downtown again
-go to downtown -man there sends you to uptown
-go to uptown, enter marked building
-transport to downtown, man sends you to item shop
-go back to house to use item
-cutscenes continue
Nothing substantial happens during this item-acquiring time except for needlessly delaying the player from acquiring the item. It's like excessive bureaucracy to do a simple thing. Not fun. I can't bother reading any more, I don't care about what happens, I'm more and more detached to the protagonists and their endeavors. I'll only persist to see how far it goes, only hoping the balance between story =/= gameplay becomes better.
For anyone's wondering, >!all this takes place in New Dam, right after the t

I loved this game to death but that ending made me feel empty like something was missing, I have so many questions that I believe will never be answered. does anyone else feel the same after finishing it?
I thought I'd share this video about the development story behind Eastward with fans here (no worries, no spoilers :) ) : https://youtube.com/watch?v=PxODnTKjrio&feature=share
