a rundown of a few recent happenings.
Background: a few years ago, My Bloody Valentine's catalogue was removed from pretty much all streaming services outside of the US and Canada. No reason was given, speculation abounds. My personal opinion is that this was due to a changeover in distribution rights and I think this is bearing out in recent events.
Events: all this is minor, but any sort of activity is newsworthy in the notorious slow MBV land, with this kind of activity mirroring the release of the release of the m b v album in 2013.

Recently, the band's name on Spotify was changed to all lowercase (I'm not sure if the verified artist check is new, but I don't recall it until recently). This is consistent across multiple streaming sites now.

A couple days ago, the album art for Loveless and Isn't Anything on Apple Music now displays as gifs

A user in Germany is getting ads promoting MBV being on spotify. Noteworthy as the band isn't available in this country. The banner showing an ad for Domino records (along with the MBV records logo). There is also a listing for MBV on Domino's page, though it currently goes to a 404.

there is now a page for m b v on spotify in Ireland, which is especially noteworthy as this album was never on streaming services (said page is currently unplayable however).

Possibly unrelated to all this, but their 1987 EP Ecstasy randomly showed up on Apple Music recently. This release has been a bone of contention in availability from Shields for a long time, so it's not clear how this ties into the above (especially since the Strawberry Wine EP, released by the same label, isn't available either).
