A list of puns related to "Dognap"

About two weeks ago, I wrote a post about an incident with an entitled mum who tried to take my dog. Well, this story has (somewhat of) a lovely ending.
The police told me that they asked CAS, the Canadian equivalent of child protection services to do a welfare check on the daughter mentioned in the story. Well, what they found wasnβt the best living environment for anyone but even more so for a young child.
When all of this happened, the person who was helping me on my case asked if I was comfortable with my number being given to the father of the child. I agreed and when he called me, honestly, it made this whole ordeal absolutely worth it. Apparently the father was in the process of trying to divorce this women because of severe physical and emotional abuse. They were in court battling out for custody rights but this incident caused the judge to give him full parental rights. It seems that this was almost perfect timing and I couldnβt be happier that this little girl is going to be in a safe + healthy environment.
Their home is very close to my flat so as soon as it is safe to see them, weβre planning to meet!

He (lets call him Joe) is not cut out to own a dog. Not sure why he has one in the first place, because I remember him explicitly saying "I fucking hate dogs." It breaks my heart everytime I see this dog.
First off, she's a pug, so she's automatically fucked for life. She's also built like a trashbag full of mashed potatoes. Needless to say, her being obese is NOT helping her already fucked up anatomy. The amount of times Joe has walked her in her life, I can count on a single hand. When he has walked her, Joe doesn't have a harness and ends up yanking on her esophagus. He does not let her out of her kennel. Poor pug literally lives a life on solitary confinement. She only gets one hour outside as well as time to eat. The type of food Joe buys for her is full of corn meal and cereal fillers, with no actual protein. I can also recall a time that Joe told my family that his dog supposedly "loves to trip on acid."
Honestly, I could go one for ages and explain the many reasons why this man should not have a dog. I know there are so many people that would kill (okay maybe not that much) to have a pug with a funky personality. Little Pug deserves better.
TL;DR : I daydream of dognapping a friends pug to give it to a deserving home since said friend treats it like Shit.
Given some of the discussion and recent posts, I thought we might want to have a more generalized discussion on the merits of a relatively non-personalized "dog rescue" situation.
Slate's Dear Prudence recently took on this question, and delivered the following answer (to be found at this link)
> Dear Prudence, I recently moved to a neighborhood where itβs relatively common for people to allow their dogs to roam the neighborhood freelyβa practice that seems outrageous to me. There is one dog in particular that keeps showing up in my yard. Though he is very sweet, he is not neutered, does not have a collar or microchip, and was filthy and covered in fleas when I found him. He seems to be well-fed and otherwise healthy. I took the dog in, put up a few lost dog signs, and learned from another concerned neighbor who the owners are. He said they have ignored his repeated requests to keep their dog on a leash, and he witnessed several near-accidents as cars swerved to avoid the dog. Should I give this dog to a good home? My gut says this is the right thing to do, but Iβm worried that Iβm stealing a dog from a family. On the other hand, if I find this dog dead in the street in two weeks I will feel responsible.
> -- Thief or Rescuer?
> Prudence: Iβm reluctant to give anyone advice that boils down to βSteal the dog,β and yet I think you might have to steal this dog. Normally Iβd suggest that since you know who the owners are, you might consider getting in touch with them and letting them know youβre worried about their dogβs safety and are trying to find a good home for him. But youβve already put up lost dog signs and havenβt heard a word from them, so I think youβve done your due diligence. I think you can find a safer home for him with a clear conscience; it sounds as if theyβre about as interested in recovering their dog as they were in taking care of him when they had him.
There are some complications and nuances that echo what we deal with in similar threads on /r/dogs - but hashing out the gray zones maybe gives us an opportunity to establish a Best Practices perspective, as a community.
Personally, I disagree with Prudence about Thief or Rescuer (ToR) performing due-diligence. I believe ToR should have approached the family directly rather than taken the neighbor's word for it. The neighbor may, for example, have som

They refuse to transfer records and won't release him legally but they gave him to my sister in law who gave him to me and is now claiming she never meant we could keep him. We have multiple witnesses to her giving him to us but I'm not sure it will hold up in court. The issue is the vet records. If I can't get them, can I make new vet records? Or do I have to have access to vet records to take him to any vet?
