Disclaimer: it’s not “just a diaper rash”. It’s very serious acid burns from his pee and poo missing and burning his skin.
My new born is 7 weeks today. He has had sores from an erosive diaper rash he first got at 1 week old. We’ve tried EVERYTHING. Finally settled on ILex cream.
Have you used it? What was your routine with it? How did you do diaper changes? What other products did you use with it? I feel like it’s not lasting the full 24hrs until the next application. Help!
Update!!!: He is 98% healed!! 3 days of reapplied ILex at every diaper change (instead of the once every 24hrs it recommended in the instructions) 72hours later and the ulcer-like-sores are GONE!
Step 1: dry wipe off poo with cotton pad
Step 2: use Le Petite Creme for pee and booty cheeks
Step 3: apply ILex to sores (around anus) and let dry for 60 whole seconds
Step 4: slather petroleum jelly inbetween cheeks and all over diaper area
Step 5: diaper!
Bonus step: nightly warm bath to remove any stubborn ILex and start with a fresh booty
I took my newborn to several doctors and pediatric dermatologists/specialists until he was finally diagnosed with Jacquet’s dermatitis (a severe form of IDD). The dermatologist knew all about this and we finally had hope this would be treated.
Things we’ve tried prior to diagnosis: Prescription Nystatin Prescription Mupirocin Frequent diaper changes No wipes - only water rinses Lots of Air dry time and blow dry area on cool setting Was still progressively getting worse Thick layers or aquaphor - kept getting worse Thick layers of Butt paste - kept getting worse Thick layers of A&D - kept getting worse
So finally after diagnosis we were told we were doing way too much and all the water and cleaning was actually not allowing the open lesions to heal. So according to doctor: Clean very gently with cotton pad and a little water Dry gently (doesn’t have to be super dry) And apply thick layer of Desitin extra strength every diaper change. If baby pees only not to clean at all. Just swap diapers.
Unfortunately, it is still looking worse and worse each day.
My baby needs help. It it hurting him and burning him every diaper change :( We are scared this is only going to spread and more and more sores and open legions will form and he will be in a completely bad place.
Any help / advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

My 2 year old daughter is suffering with atopic dermatitis. Particularly on her forearms and hands. I dont like to use the hydro cream because of the thinning of the skin. Her forhead has become wrinkle to an extent. Her cheeks and under chin are pretty dry always but it's her poor arms and hands that are just in rough shape. As soon as you remove her cloths for bath time or diaper change she immediately starts to scratch her legs. I am applying Cera ve cream several times a day and short term it relieves the scaleiness on her arms and hands but then before you know it she is dry and scarey again. It's difficult because she is so young and it's hard to get her to stop itching because as you all know it feels good to scratch an itch you have and she has to constantly be supervised otherwise she scratches until it's raw and bleeding. I have to sleep beside her at night with one eye open in case she starts itching and so I can apply cream as needed. It's stressful for her mother and I. She is a bright and beautiful girl and we just want her to be able to play in shorts in a t shirt this summer.I would really appreciate some feed back from anyone that has experience with combating this terrible disease

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.
I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.
When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."
From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"
Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.
