A list of puns related to "Dexter Holland"
At the top of the pod, Adam tells Bryan and Gina about an amazing Offspring performance he witnessed that almost literally brought the house down. He also shares a story about he and Jimmy once planning a Mr. Birchum live stage show, and he asks a philosophical question about the unintended consequences of making things easier for people. The gang then talks about Love Boat ridiculousness, and more specifically about Halstonβs bizarre performance. Before the break, Vinnie Tortorich joins the pod and warns of the dangers of the βBeyondβ food trend, as well as thoughts on hummus, climate change, and soy beans.
Adam welcomes Dexter Holland back to the studio at the top of Part 2. Adam asks him about his custom van, his hot sauce business, and recently completing his degree in molecular biology. Adam then asks Dexter about getting the band back on tour, and his plane back in the air. Later, Dexter talks about the process for training for a smaller scale triathlon, and the times he conducted the USC marching band. From there the guys talk about the KROQ Weenie Roast days, and what the experience was like when The Offspring first blew up. In the last part of the show, Gina reads news stories about United operating supersonic aircrafts, Chris Harrison continuing his Bachelor break, the Bam Margera / Jeff Tremaine feud, and a radio reporter who had sex on the air.
Maybe it's just me being particularly sucky at it, but the way he can downpick those power chords at 200+ bpm while singing is crazy to me. Like in this video (see around 0:28 mark) he actually looks completely relaxed and that song is around 210bpm. I can just about pull off clean downpicks like that at 200, but at that point i'm way too tensed up to sing. Strange to me he's rarely mentioned when talking about downpicking, I would love to be able to pick like him.
And as a side note, how do you practice your downstrokes, if you do? I see a lot of good downpickers (like Dexter or Hetfield) tend to hold the pick differently, with the tips of their fingers. I think that's slightly easier, but only slightly. I'm trying to do the 3 minutes method where I downstroke for 3 minutes at one tempo and increase a little every day, but not sure this strategy will get me far enough. Any tips?
Offspring lead singer Dexter Holland is in studio and talks to Adam about his hot sauce brand Gringo Bandito and flying airplanes. The gang also plays a spirited round of The Rotten Tomatoes Game based on famous actorβs offspring.
I remember when I was in 7th grade in the late 90βs, I was home sick from school one day and watching either MTV or VH1, and it was the first time I ever saw an Offspring music video, which was the video for βWhy Donβt You Get a Job?β.
I remember one of my firsts initial thoughts was βwow, that guy kind of looks like Biff from Back To The Futureβ... ironically enough, part of the video proceeds through the set of Hill Valley.
Anyways, fast forward to a few weeks ago, I am on YouTube watching a more recent video of a live performance, and someone else commented that he looks like Biff.
So who else out there thinks that there is a resemblance?
