##Pashinyan about the Nagorno Karabakh negotiation process and the "diplomatic disaster" of 2016:
Throughout the negotiation process, NK has never been viewed as a territory where only Armenians would live. The issue of the Azeri population has been part of the negotiations.
The referendum was never going to be held according to our liking, but even if it were, NK's Azeri population would also take part. Now the question is, would the Azeris of NK, in their turn, be allowed to [break away from NK via a similar process]. What would happen if that question was raised? These are not abstract questions. It's based on the nuances of what was on the negotiation table, which has never been discussed in public.
Today we hear voices, thoughts, and cherrypicked sentences that, in fact, have nothing to do with the package of negotiations that we had as of 2018.
3 packages were offered in 2016, and for the first time since 2011, NK's interim status was not part of it. Sure, NK would have a legislature, judiciary, etc. But no one is mentioning that the issue of clarifying NK's interim status, according to that negotiation logic, was transferred to the UN Security Council. What is the problem with that?
Throughout the entire negotiation process, Armenia attempted to keep the final resolution within the OSCE Minsk Group framework. In 2016 the parameters to solve the issue were transferred to the UN Security Council.
Pay attention to Levon Ter-Petrosyan's 2017 interview to H1. He mentions that the international community will decide NK's status.
[What decision would the UN Security Council make?] The question is, part of which country will NK remain before its final status is resolved? When it's the UN Security Council handling it, the outcome is very predictable, because in 1993 they adopted a resolution stating that NK is part of Azerbaijan and that they recognize Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.
This is the 2016 disaster. Under this logic, NK's final resolution must be handled per the Azerbaijani constitution.
Reporter: NK has never been part of independent Azerbaijan. Are you saying the UN Security Council accepts NK as part of Azerbaijan?
Pashinyan: Yes. The documents are open for everyone to read.
Reporter: what happened between 2016-2018, and after 2018?
Pashinyan: Serj Sargsyan revealed that the negotiation process didn't inspir

If I understand correctly:
The positivists claimed that 'science' is what can be achieved when matching between empirical evidence and theoretical claims. So if I can measure it and show cause and effect and have a theory to support it -- that's science. Everything else is non-sense.
Popper came in to say that the induction problem makes "cause and effect" an unreliable source of information, since we can never reach full certainty via induction on what is science, and what is not. One can build further empirical models to bypass any wrongness of its system. For example, the Ptolemy astronomical model has been built in a mathematically and theoretically valid fashion, according to observations that been made -- but proven to be fundamentally wrong. Popper said that only if a theory can be falsified, i.e. if a theory can offer an experiment that can show its wrongness, like Eddingtonโ's experiment for Einstein's Theory of Relativity for example, and it is being proven correct in the experiment that aims to falsify it -- it can be called science, and be differentiated from non-science. So for him only through falsificationism we can reach to reliable epistemological view of the world.
Kuhn denied Popper by saying that falsification suffers from the induction problem as well, as it is based on a series of assumptions which are proven by induction.
He looked at it from a sociological point of view, claiming that there is no wrong science so to speak, there are scientific communities that illustrates the problems that we are currently facing, and offer solutions. Most of them deal with 'normal science', which is an investigation into problems that they are facing based on the accepted scientific convention of the era, and some deal with 'revolutionary science' which is an investigation into the fundamentals of the scientific convention. When a breakthrough ensues, the old conventions are being dropped and a new scientific consensus is formed.
Do I understand it correctly? Am I missing something?
I had coffee with someone today and she meant well. But she kept telling me that I viewed myself as superior because I was raised a Jehovah's Witness. I mean, we all have different experiences but I never viewed myself as superior. I thought I was obedient, I recognized I missed out on a lot of fun. I don't even mean drugs or sex, just parties, dumb little things like using fuck in a joke to make it hit harder. But I never thought I was superior because I was a JW. I mean, they don't even tell you that you're guaranteed to not be murdered by 'HOV' if you're a JW. I've been told I was a good for nothing slave for as long as I can remember. People that have never been in a fucking cult want to tell me what to watch out for, all this bullshit. People want to impose new ideologies and it's so fucking annoying. I feel liberated since not having any faith.
Not a total beginner to the subject, but my only experience with philosophy is one low-level college course. Still, I found Karl Popper's writing of demarcation really inyeresting. It seems obviously flawed but opens up a lot of discussion about what demarcation criterion should be. I feel like pseudoscience and it's definition is also really relevant to discussions today about, like, misinformation/"" censorship"" in climate change/vaccines/etc. I'd love to know what philosophers think of the issue and how it's been refined since Popper.
What are some important books or articles on the Topic? Thanks!!
Gayane Abrahamyan - journalist, former My Step MP
Arshaluys Mghdesyan - journalist, CivilNet
Tatul Hakobyan - journalist, ANI Research Center
Abrahamyan: Armenian and Turkish envoys met today. What's interesting is Turkish side wants future meetings to be one-on-one, held in Armenia or Turkey.
Mghdesyan: we witnessed a certain cooperative approach today. The post-meeting statements released by AM and TR were almost identical. It's possible that there already are some diplomatic channels between the two. The important part of the message is that Turkey agrees to continue the talks without preconditions.
This time the AM-TR negotiations have a slightly better chance to succeed. Obviously, "success" means different things for each side. For Armenia it's important to open the borders, not to tie this issue to the Karabakh conflict, etc. For Turkey, it's about the Karabakh conflict and Azerbaijan.
But after the war, it's beneficial for Turkey to normalize the relations. What they had asked Armenia to do in 2008 has been accomplished through the war, and even more. Of course, they could try to corner Armenia and demand more, but they understand that doing so would lead to no results and would only strengthen Russia's role and sponsorship of Armenia.
If Turkey ever wants to become an "alternative" in the region, it should want open borders, establish relations with Armenia, and hope that the future Armenian generation doesn't view it as a threat anymore.
Hakobyan: Turkey will of course gradually demand conditions as the negotiations advance. Nevertheless, the situation has changed and Turkey doesn't want to have a 320km Turkey-Russia border. If Turkey threatens Armenia's sovereignty, it will have a Russia-Turkey border again.
Turkey is not yet a regional "player". They only have around 60 soldiers deployed in Azerbaijan to monitor Karabakh. That's not much. It's not Turkey, after all, that deployed the peacekeepers.
Mghdesyan: for Turkey to become "second Russia" in the region, it needs Armenia. Armenia is the key.
Hakobyan: the question is, is it possible that Russia might not want AM-TR border to open? ... Armenia should establish good relations with all neighbors to be an independent and sovereign state.
Mghdesyan: if we keep our border closed by focusing on the idea that Turkey is a potential threat because opening the border could allow them to conduct "dangerous economic expansion", then by that logic, Russia sho

Reporter: the leaders agreed for deputy premiers to meet and discuss the agreement reached regarding unblocking communication. The parties have a general understanding. These positive developments look strange while Aliyev makes militaristic threats about a corridor. What's your take on this?
Babayan: as I've said many times, you should not take Aliyev's militaristic threats too seriously. Armenia has a great stance that makes it possible to resolve the blockade while benefitting both parties. Armenia can have leverage.
Do you want Armenia to exit the "buffer" state of the past 300-years or not?
Can we sign an agreement with our neighbors that respects our interests? The answer is yes. We are going in that direction.
Reporter:: the key is the ability to live peacefully with Turks and Azeris in the region?
Babayan: yes, that's where the key is. We must choose that direction confidently and resolve our problems. This is the route. There are those who do not understand or comprehend this very well.
My party submitted our opinion about trade routes to the government. We will meet on December 4 to find out which parts of the advice were accepted. I can already tell based on the Sochi statements that it's close to what we proposed.
Azerbaijan still uses the "corridor" term, which doesn't exist, it's a lie. There is no corridor.
Reporter: Aliyev promised his nation we would get a corridor. Is he trying to save his face by claiming he has achieved it?
Babayan: you can word it however you want. It's a road. It's a corridor for them that connects Azerbaijan to Nakhijevan. We understand different things under "corridor". The only important part is we preserve sovereignty over the "corridor". We should have customs checkpoints and tax the transfers.
One reason why Azerbaijan is so hellbent on the "corridor" term is that they want assurances that Armenia won't open and close it shortly after. Georgia is wrapped on Turkey's and Azerbaijan's necks economically. Georgia will lose a lot of transit power. Azerbaijan wants assurances from Armenia. Armenia can give assurance

So, I'm trying to grab the a name out of a string in the following pattern:
USER: Bob Jones (555) 555-5557
USER: Jake Fred (555) 777-7777
These strings are from user-generated Word docs, so the white space may differ, but thankfully, there's always a colon and an opening parentheses to demarcate where the name will lie. I am parsing the strings one at a time, only one of the above in a series is being passed through the regex.
What I am trying, and my understanding of it, is as follows:
(((?<=:\s+)([a-zA-Z]+\s)+(?=\s+\()))+
Expectation/how I interpret this is, "beginning with colon followed by white space but not including that element, give me all letters with following whitespace one or more times, until we reach an opening parentheses, but not including the open parentheses"
The result ends up being the entire string, however.
Environment is PowerShell ISE. Thanks for any ideas!

##possible teleconference is planned between Pashinyan, Putin, and Aliyev next week
A month ago, Russian and Armenian sources reported that Pashinyan and Aliyev will sign some kind of an agreement about borders and humanitarian topics on November 9.
Azerbaijan and Armenia officially denied plans to hold a meeting to sign documents in Moscow next week. Later, Putin's spokesman revealed that a teleconference will be scheduled between the leaders next week.
Reporter: the media confirmed, then denied, then confirmed the existence of this meeting. What can you tell us?
Pashinyan: at this moment there is no agreement for a meeting, but during the recent Q&A, the deputy Foreign Minister stated that there are many ideas and proposals. We aren't against holding meetings, but the context, symbolism, and expectations from such meetings are important. We would never reject a meeting where it's possible to achieve results, but at the same time, we don't want to hold a meeting for the sake of holding one. //
Kremlin's statement about the state of affairs one year later: Russia does not intend to get a "monopoly" over Armenia and Azerbaijan. None of the tripartite documents initiated by Russia were imposed on any party.
A year later, it's safe to say that all the social media rumors about "Russian wanting to break away Karabakh to give it to Azerbaijan" or "Armenia becoming a protectorate" have all been populist claims that serve external orders and have nothing to do with reality.
The long-term solution to the problem is the launch of the AM-AZ border demarcation. We are ready to assist by providing consultation and the maps. Today, our border guards are stationed in the most problematic locations to prevent conflicts.
We are determined to continue the work as part of the OSCE Minsk Group. The Co-chairs plan to visit the region to continue the discussions.
The unblocking of regional communication routes will open a new North-South international artery between Armenia and Russia.
In light of the so-called Zangezur Corridor reports in the media, it's important to note that all parties have agreed that each country will preserve sovereignty over trade routes passing through its territory. //

##parliamentary opposition organized a rally in Yerevan's Opera square
The rally began at 6 pm. 3,700 people were present as of 7 pm. They want Pashinyan's resignation. A "resistance" movement was launched.
Kocharyan blamed the Pashinyan administration for the failure of the negotiation process.
Kocharyan about negotiations: our negotiation positions were strengthened by our victory in the first war. The 7 adjacent regions, Armenia's combat-efficient army, and the fact that Armenia was the guarantor of Artsakh's security. This gave us big strength during the whole negotiation process, and step by step we were recording diplomatic victories [?] until they lost it all. //
Kocharyan about the "resistance": we should all unite around the resistance movement. It won't last long, a matter of weeks or months. It all depends on you.
ARF Saghatelyan: the enemy continues to have ambitions for Syunik. They try to Turkify Armenia. What should we do? We must launch a national resistance in Armenia and across the diaspora.
The resistance movement must have two directions: internal and external. On the external front we must show the world that Nikol does not represent Armenians, he has no mandate for more concessions. Any anti-Armenian document signed by Nikol will be unacceptable to us.
They are taking us to a new capitulation with the "peace" agenda. There are many examples in history when the losing country found the strength to stand up and develop. That [presumably "peace"] is the path of destruction for Armenia and we must all reject it.
On the internal front, we must resist the corruption, plundering of the state budget, pressure on the judicial. We must form big and small resistance groups in every field... Nikol traitor, Nikol traitor! //

##President Sarkissian made a historic visit to Saudi Arabia
Armenia and SA do not have official relations because SA had backed Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict since the 90s. Last year, SA congratulated Armenia on its Independence Day. There were discussions that the relations would warm, especially under the context of worsening Turkey-SA relations, but the war began and things were suspended.
>during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, Saudi Arabia, alongside the United Arab Emirates, was thought to be secretly backing Armenia against Azerbaijan, as Saudi channel Al Arabiya hosted a special speech delivered by Armenian President Armen Sargsyan condemning Turkey and Azerbaijan and urged international community to prevent Turkey and Azerbaijan from intervening in the conflict together
Sarkissian's visit is definitely a turning point in Armenia's international relations, said President's office. Armenian flag was raised at the airport and Sarkissian was greeted by Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.
In other news, Iran and Saudi Arabia move towards normalization of relations, although skeptics believe that will take a while.

Journalist: does your administration plan to reopen the 1999 investigation? [wasn't it reopened in 2019?]
Speaker Simonyan: our society already knows the main reasons and participants of the attack, and the issues which have been left open. I find it needless to voice names now but we will have the answers from the legal perspective also. I'm not allowed to make statements that could jeopardize future legal processes. We must understand who the true instigators were, and what their interests were. I think our society knows the interests of those people.
Journalist: do you believe the 1999 attack was linked to the possible handover of Meghri (Syunik) to Azerbaijan?
Speaker Simonyan: I won't rule that out. //
Context: Vazgen, who was Kocharyan's main opponent, was strongly against giving Meghri and Armenia's southern portion to Azerbaijan in exchange for keeping most of Karabakh. The two allegedly had an argument because of it. The conspiracy theory is that Kocharyan's people decided to "take him out". The perpetrator was a radicalized ex-ARF member Nairi Hunanyan who had once already been under the microscope of security services. People reported that they had learned about Hunanyan's intentions to attack the Parliament and informed national security agents about it, but the agents reportedly displayed inaction. The national security agency was headed by Serj Sargsyan at the time.

Who are some players who have clear cut points of demarcation in their careers? Where they were one type of player before an injury/trade/signing etc, and then were a fairly different player after the fact? One who comes to mind is Scott Stevens. From his rookie year in 82-83 through 93-94, he played in 911 and had 672 points (0.73 PPG). The starting with 94-95 through the end of his career, he had 236 points in 724 games (0.33 PPG). His offensive production is cut in half overnight as those New Jersey teams start becoming a perennial contender, and a player like Scott Niedermayer seemingly taking over the powerplay duties on the backend. Stevens was also just turning 30 at this point, where players usually start seeing their numbers start to decline. Yesterday, the Defense Ministry released a statement, denying the Azeri claims that two Armenian soldiers stabbed an Azeri soldier with a bayonet on the Syunik border (Vorotan, Kapan).
Part of this road had gone under Azeri control after the 2020 war but Armenians maintained access to it under Russian supervision. To "protest" the "stabbing incident", 50 Azeri soldiers set up a roadblock to block the vehicle traffic.
