I mailed a USPS Priority Mail package to a buyer on Nov 2, 2020. After a week, it stopped tracking. I am the sender, and I filed the insurance claim for a lost package on Dec 21, 2020 (acceptance scan) - exactly 49 days after the mailing date. The filing period is 60 days.
It took 49 days because the buyer was willing to wait another 2-3 weeks due to holiday delays. I also couldn't file online (form didn't recognize the tracking #) so I requested physical forms and those took 3-4 weeks to arrive, also due to holiday delays.
March 2021 - 1st denial. My claim was denied for "not filed within the specified timeframe," which is incorrect. Next day, I appealed showing that the package mail date and claim mail date was exactly 49 days apart, within the 60 days noted in the denial letter. I sent copies of the tracking numbers, the shipping label, the order receipt for the contents, and a letter detailing this. Ironic this is the reason when they took nearly 3 months to respond.
July 2021 - 2nd denial. My claim was now denied for "proof of value provided with this claim is not sufficient," which is also incorrect. I provided the receipts in my initial claim and in my appeal. From my appeal letter to this denial, it took 4 months... Within the week, I decided to appeal again with all of the same documents.
August 2021 - 3rd denial from Consumer Advocate, saying this is the final response. My claim was again denied for not filing within the filing period. Again, incorrect and going in a circle. I suspect they looked at the mailing date and wondered why this was sent in July.
It feels like USPS is making every excuse in the book to not pay this very clear insurance claim for $50 on a $70 sale. I'm only asking for the $50 insurance that comes with the label to cover my losses. They lost my package, and there's clear evidence of that, and then they take 3-4 months to respond every turn.
It's now 10 months later, and I'm at a standstill. I mail ~3,000 packages every year, and I file 2-3 claims per year. This is the only year they've made it this difficult, and I'm wondering if they're refusing to pay claims to save money.
Side note, my package stopped tracking at Ybor City, which I'm only just realizing has a history of lost packages, with many reviewers suspecting packages are being stolen: https://www.yelp.com/biz/ybor-city-post-office-tampa
Is there someone else I can contact at the USPS about rev
... keep reading on reddit β‘Also, steering well clear of the 2000 A.D. cutoff for this sub, Nader seemed to have runaway success and a lot of clout among politicians in his early years, but although he still kept up his original campaigns after 1980, he seemed to lose effectiveness as a changemaker. Why wasn't he able to get much done after 1980?
Interesting how both of these customers had their accounts hijacked/stolen. They were able to get logged back in, with the help of the local news. However, their securities or crypto had been sold off.
They had no recourse, because they were directed to a support line that would not take their calls.
It seems Robinhood was able to restore what they had, but only after all attempts had failed by the consumer. Only after contacting local news did they get resolution.
