A list of puns related to "Confiteor"

Immediately after the greeting offered by the priest, the Congregation is invited to an Examination of Conscience. All must humbly admit, acknowledge, and confess that we spiritually fall short. In blunt, we are all sinners. However, that is precisely the reason for Jesusβ coming to earth.
Jesus came to save us from sin and its logical consequences. Actually, the Name of Jesus means Savior. The primary purpose for Jesusβ coming and Presence among us is precisely thatβto save us from sin, to save us from the clutches of the devil, to save us from sadness, and to save us from the eternal punishment of Hell.
Humble Recognition of Sin
Pope Pius XII made this assertion: βThe sin of the century is the loss of the sense of sin.β If we never come to reality and conclude that we are indeed sinners, then it is impossible for Jesus to actually save us. The sick person will never be healed by the Doctor until he tells the Doctor about his symptoms. Sinners must humbly admit that they commit sins and hurt God and themselves, as well as others, by sinning.
Penitential Rite
The Penitential Rite is a pivotal moment in the Mass. Before actually praying the Penitential Rite, there should be at least a brief time for silence. Incidentally, sacred Silence in Mass must be understood, valued, appreciated and lived out in the Mass. Indeed, God does communicate to us in silence.
Why Silence
It may appear obviousβbut unfortunately not to allβthat those brief moments of silence should be used as a means to examine our own individual conscience. (Not that of our neighbor!) It is the moment of truth, when we come to terms with the fact that we indeed are sinners and in great need of Godβs Infinite Mercy. But let us rejoice in the encouraging words of Scripture, from Saint Paul to the Romans: βWhere sin abounds, the mercy of God abounds all the more.β (Romans 5:20)
Penitential Prayer
Then what naturally follows this Sacred Silence is the Penitential Prayer. In a word, this Penitential Prayer is really an Act of Contrition that we are making, humbly begging for Godβs mercy because all of us are sinnersβwith the exception of Jesus and His Immaculate Mother Mary! Jesus so ardently desires to shower His Infinite Mercy upon all of sinful humanity.
Confiteor
Probably the most commonly used Penitential Act chosen by most priests and prayed by the Co
... keep reading on reddit β‘Greetings, Fathers. Please, is it okay to say Confiteor before prayer at home? Or is it fit only for Mass. I like Confiteor and I feel like I'd like to start my daily prayer by saying it.
The metaphors and allusions that Disney uses in this song are mixed up and somewhat contradictory to themselves sometimes, but I'd like to think that it represents the villain being confused and doubtful with his religious and moral state. Hellfire is where Judge Claude Frollo admits his "sinful feelings" for the Gypsy girl Esmeralda, all the while trying to convince himself (and apparently, the Heavens) that this is not his doing, but Esmeralda's bewitching.
It's fascinating if we consider that these Latin chants are his inner monologue (implied in the Mea Culpa part of the song), he acknowledges that he has some part or fault for the sinful act that he is about to do despite contradicting himself by saying that it's "God's Plan". This makes me believe that he knows he is wrong, but by confessing it (a catholic practice) and convincing himself that his act of genocide and abuse is an act by God, he is absolving himself of sin. Here's the translation of the Latin part of the lyrics (F for Frollo, C for the chant):
C: Confiteor Deo Omnipotenti (I confess to God almighty)Beatae Mariae semper Virgini (To blessed Mary ever Virgin)Beato Michaeli archangelo (To the blessed archangel Michael)Sanctis apostolis omnibus sanctis (To the holy apostles to all the saints)
F: ... Of my virtue I am justly proud
C: Et tibit Pater (And to you, Father)
F: ...The common, vulgar, weak, licentious crowd
C: Quia peccavi nimis (That I have sinned)
F: ... Why her smold'ring eyes still scorch my soul
C: Cogitatione (In thought)
F: ...Is blazing in me out of all control
C: Verbo et opere (In word and deed)
F: ... It's not my fault
C: Mea culpa (Through my fault)
To add, he sings to Beata Maria that he asks for protection from the "siren's spell" (aka Esmeralda's beauty). He is actually given a last chance at redemption by the guard who is portrayed with blue, heavenly light behind him (contrasting Frollo who is reflected by the orange "Hellfire"), but he rejects this, cementing the point that he is determined to get the girl or bUrN dOwn aLL of PaRiS.

In 1960 John XXIII issued some revisions to the liturgical books, namely the rubrics of the Missal, the rubrics of the breviary, and the texts of the breviary itself, but not he Ritual or the Ceremonial of Bishops. The important point in here is that anything contradicting the new changes is suppressed. To see what specifically was changed, you would need to compare the old rubrics and the new rubrics side by side. For the most part, the new rubrics are just a more succinct way of describing the correct way to say a Latin Mass. The old rubrics were copy-pasted from a 15th century curial missal into the Tridentine missal in 1570, and they read less like in instructions and more like descriptions. In 1962, there was no question that this revision was legitimate. However since then, obviously, it was superseded by later developments after Vatican II and eventually the Novus Ordo.
Let's assume for our purposes that, because of Summorum Pontificum as well as Ecclesia Dei afflicta, the permission is given for the Latin Mass, Office, sacraments, and blessings as they existed in 1962. Whether this means that the FSSP and gang exist in a legal time-warp which provisionally revives all the liturgical legislative imperatives from 1962, or whether it is merely proposed as an option that is valid alongside the Novus Ordo, is not clear--the former would probably exclude the use of the pre-55 rites, but no one in Rome has bothered to answer this nuanced question. I think the simplest answer is that everyone in the Latin Church is governed by the Novus Ordo, but that the TLM, when used, ought to conform itself to the traditions, and certainly can't be forced to deviate from the tradition (i.e. altar girls), and groups like the FSSP sort of police the correct adherence to the liturgical books through their constitutions and influence. But still, the TLM is not currently being held to stricter standard than the Novus Ordo, since Rome has entirely moved on to the Novus Ordo. A good case against the "time-warp" position is the fact that, while in the FSSP subdeacons are expected to recite the entire Office, they do not consider this a canonical requirement, even though it was in 1962, since today, only in the Diaconate do you receive the responsibilities of a cleric under the law. I also shy away from the time-warp position because it excludes the possibility of the pre-1955 Holy Week and Candlemas.

... keep reading on reddit β‘If I intend to use it while praying the Rosary and I don't have any priest in front of me, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me to say Confiteor... et tibi Pater (and to you, Father). But at the same time, I feel weird if I'm all alone saying et vobis, fratres (and to you, brothers). Which one is preferable?
Iβve been more deeply studying the missal and wanted to see if anyone could clarify this about the Confiteor at the beginning. All the missals Iβve looked at seem to imply that the priest and the server say the same pray, but the text given also addresses the priest (et tibi Pater / et te Pater). Does the priest just skip that clause? Iβm I wrong about who the Pater is referring to?
I once downloaded a Finale file of the score to a latin mass in F major on my Windows 98 box probably around 2001-2003. The Confiteor movement of this mass is an adagio if I remember correctly. I haven't been able to recover either the file or the score, and don't recall hearing a recording of this piece outside the Finale music notation program. The composer may not be well known, but someone had taken the time to engrave the full score of this mass so it's certainly floating around the internet somewhere. Already tried to find it in IMSLP, but it's from an older part of the internet so no luck there. Would love to hear it again! Once again, F major latin mass heard in a finale .MUS file.
Its a punk rock song, sounds like it came out late 90s/early 2000s...
The lyrics are this prayer, confiteor:
I confess to almighty God, to the saints, and to all the Saints, and to thee, brother, that I have sinned in thought, in speech, in work, in the purity of mind and of the body. Therefore, I beseech you, pray for me

I figured I might do some research to figure exactly how many unique hotbar actions each job would have, and thought that others might find this research helpful. I also want to compare my findings with our current number of hotbar actions, and do a full breakdown of what is added / removed. For now, I am assuming all Role Actions remain the same. If I make any mistakes, please help me correct them! I used a couple excellent resources to help with this: the Media Tour summaries from Gamerescape and the official Job Guides from Lodestone.
I have included all Job/Class Actions and Role Actions in the totals below. I don't include anything under General Actions, such as Sprint or Limit Break, as these are shared by all jobs.

Below is a breakdown of each job, looking at both the current abilities and those gained / lost in Endwalker. I hope this is of use to a few people!
Paladin (+0) - Currently, every ability PLD gets is a new hotbar slot with the exception of Royal Authority replacing Rage of Halone. In EW, every ability PLD gets will replace or upgrade an existing ability. The lvl 90 finisher to the holy combo will upgrade Confiteor on the hotbar.
Warrior (+2) - Currently, WAR gets upgraded versions of Berserk, Inner Beast, and Steel Cyclone. The new abilities for WAR will be Orogeny (shares a cooldown with Upheaval and is AoE) and Primal Rend (used only during Inner Release). Like all the tanks, WAR gets some massive upgrades to its other DCDs as well.
Dark Knight (+2) - Currently, the only replaced / upgraded actions that DRK gains is Flood/Edge of Shadow replacing Flood/Edge of Darkness at lvl 74. In EW, DRK gains Oblation as an extra DCD, and Shadowbringer as a bonus line AoE with 2 charges. In addition, DRK's Salted Earth is upgraded while activated to Salt and Darkness.
Gunbreaker (-1) - GNB's Continuation Combo currently is upgraded after each use to change

Aside of those great animation, the lack of damage on those skills are disheartening. The holy sword combo should have more damage to keep with its animation gloryness..
