A list of puns related to "Columbia College"
I was SLAVISHLY dedicated to this subreddit and A2C in high school, but once I committed to Columbia I really did peace out! But now that I'm on winter break and procrastinating (some things never change), I wrote this up and I hope it's helpful!! Also, feel free to ask me anything about Columbia or the application process, particularly about the waitlist (as long as you're nice of course).
SO much about the U.S. education system is fake and unequal to the max, to put it lightly (the SAT is FAKE for starters). Do not take college admissions to heart! Do not let this reflect your self worth or put bounds on what you think you can do to make the world a better place!
(Sorry for how half-baked this is lmfao. I just can't control myself.)

Anyone know what's going on at the college today? There was a very long line of cars wrapped around the entire campus this morning.
I've always been curiousβhow does the admissions process in colleges of letters, arts, and sciences differ from that in engineering schools? This applies to schools such as Columbia, UPenn, Cornell, etc.
I've heard that the score cutoffs are higher for engineering colleges, purely because the engineering applicants tend to be a self-selected pool of students who are determined to be dedicated to working as an engineer. That's, of course, not to say that the non-engineering applicants are any less, it's just that the colleges of letters, arts, and sciences tend to have a more diverse pool of students(given its broader range of majors), which results in more flexibility with the interpreting the students' numbers(GPA, SAT/ACT, AP, etc) and more focus is put on the experiences and the essays. Is this accurate?
Hey! I applied last week and now Iβm super nervous about this for some reason. I didnβt apply anywhere else (well, except for the regular program at Trinity) and I have no idea honestly how many people I have to beat to get in. On their website it said they had 250 applicants in total last year and it seems ok (I think itβs not a very popular program), but Iβm an international. I really want to get in, but hey, itβs so hard to predict at this point. Anyone else here, who applied this year or maybe have any other cool information about this program?
Hello! Curious if anybody has attended Columbia college or bow valley college for the LPN program? What was your experience and would you recommend the school to others?
Obv if you only know one pls put just that -- this is just my main list
Demographics: Asian (Indian), Male, Parents went to Pace + Rutgers
SAT: 1470 (780 M, 690 RW) -- going test-optional wherever I can
Coursework: Horrible freshman year w 3 B's but insanely improved to all 95's, 2 94's, one 89 last year with a slight decline this year (calc AB is horrible) -- overall 10 AP's with 3 honors freshman year, 4 honors sophomore year
Awards: I spent like all of hs doing this because I wanted to advance myself in a field rather than worrying about doing every ec that came to me like the machines in my school (live in insanely competitive NJ public hs) -- it's a "national" honor of obtaining the Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer I certification + AP Scholar w Distinction last year
Extracurriculars: I only have 4, is it bad - yes - but you know what I actually wanted to do shit that I wanted to do
Essays: Alright, this is the strongest point in my application (at least the big, regular one). I've gotten insane reviews from ivy league admissions officers + people who work in companies to help kids get into ivy league schools saying that it was one of the best they have ever read as well as educators who have been teaching for a long time. So I rate my regular essay 11/10. Supplementals we'll have to see, if anyone has advice for those schools pls put that in the comments too.
Thanks for all of your time ppl on the internet
Hello! As the title says, Iβm trying to gather some money to help my family out with tuition. I can come out at anytime this December aside from right at Christmas. If you need any extra hands with lights or lawn care, Iβm there! I have a small truck that can haul trash and furniture. I am capable of lifting heavy objects. I am not a professional but I will do everything I can to meet your expectations. I am willing to drive out of Columbia if youβre not over an hour out. Send me a message to discuss the work! Thank you!
so as my final proyect my teacer decided to make us do an essay on the college we want to go to. so she basically wants use to write down cost, installations, how was the expiriance for former students, what's the carreer we want like, ect
so to any one attending this college ΒΏwhat your expirince like? and what can you say about the building(s) and to anyone takeing the Cinema & Television (BFA) ΒΏwhat's the career like?, ΒΏwhat the downsides of that career?,ΒΏhow stressing is it?,ΒΏdoes the schedule causes any inconvince to you?
Applying undergrad. Took community college courses throughout high school. Where do I send them in? I canβt find a section on the portal and I canβt find a fitting email address. Thank you for the help.
Saw a post about Barnard and I have similar questions about Teachers College. Iβm a TC student, and assumed this also made me a Columbia student, but I feel like TC is the forgotten step-child of CU. TCβs admin is constantly asserting itβs independence (we have our own president and all), but also just follows most moves that CU makes. We also loose out on a lot of benefits CU has - like there is no union for student workers, and our wages havenβt been raised in 5+ years (they are absolute shit btw). Also, although TC has a good reputation, Iβve learned that itβs admissions standards are absolute shit. Whatβs the deal here? I feel completely separate from CU main campus, but our building is a block away and my degree will supposedly say Columbia. Thanks!
Hey, everyone! I'm right now applying to Columbia and I've been debating if I should apply to Columbia College or Columbia Engineering.
I'm interested in genetic engineering, designing proteins, drug delivery and biotechnology. The thing is I would love to get into Columbia Engineering, but because the only more biology related major it offers is Biomedical Engineering, I'm afraid I will have to focus more on the development of devices for medical uses, of prosthetics and other such things, which are not really in my area of interest. Is it possible to only focus on my areas of interest without having to do biomechanics, biomaterials and other such domains?
Hello everyone,
I am currently in my last year of high school and I am planning on studying Human Rights. As you know both Columbia University and Barnard College have one of the best programs for Human Rights and therefore I would like to apply to both, as I am also applying to European schools, just schools with great human rights programs in general. Do you think I can apply to both Columbia and Barnard and if yes, then does it somehow affect my chances?
Thanks for your answers! <3
Accepted to both for fall 22. I would appreciate any thoughts on strengths/weaknesses of the two programs.
Is there a major difference in how people view ivies of different calibers such as Harvard vs Columbia or Dartmouth vs Princeton in regards to investment banking is it just a matter of working harder in lower ivy leagues to secure top jobs. Same question for entrepreneurial engagement and also tech with regards to tiers of institutions
I am international Indian female student who attended high school in South Africa and will require 60%+ financial aid. Which school among these are best for ED and also which ones are relatively easier to get into for engineering(specifically computer engineering) compared to the other schools?
Here is a link to my stats if needed:https://www.reddit.com/r/IntltoUSA/comments/ph59xq/chances_of_me_getting_accepted_with_financial_aid/
edit: Please can you also include Vanderbilt in the list
This is precisely what I'm looking for. Particularly, I'm looking for the loudly urban environment that stops Columbia from having the "college bubble" feel. I know the other obvious prestigious urban schools: NYU, Harvard, UChicago, Penn. I'm looking more for urban schools that are somewhat easier to get into while still having strong intellectual liberal arts traditions.
Past or present tense, whichever one.
Saw a couple videos of people asking Columbia students "juicy" questions about their college. Thought a more AM-focused version would be interesting.
How was your social life there? Did you or other AM feel part of the community, left out? Bored, excited, anxious?
How did AM do (generally speaking) in the hookup culture? Were their (or your) partners fairly diverse? For the ones that cleaned up, any way they stood out?
How much racism, microaggressions, etc. did y'all face if any? Did most of it come from outside the campus?
How active was the student body when anti-Asian hate awareness was at a high in the public conscious?
Do you regret going to Columbia? Love it? Mixed feelings? Would you recommend other AM to go there or no?
Whatever you want to say about your time there. Any interesting or crazy stories to share? Some aspects or dirty secrets of the college that not many people are aware of? If you ever wanted to spill some hot tea, here's your moment to shine LOL
*I stated specifically Columbia because every Ivy League has a different flavor, especially having different locations, not quite the same kinds of people I imagine, so for this I thought it would be good to talk specifically about this university in Manhattan.
