A list of puns related to "Collective Unconscious"
So, I wanted to share this here today as endless spiritual teachings tell us we are all one and not individuals, they also claim there is One Being/God playing all the parts, they also tell us we have no free will at all and this One God supposedly does it all and we have no control whatsoever individually, they also tell us the universe is our own self pushed out and the universe is like a mirror of our internal projection being reflected back to us. My feelings on this now are that this is could be complete new age mumbo jumbo. I feel 'oneness' could be a deep rabbit hole and a huge deception.
My intuition and gut sense is now leading me to the conclusion that the truth is this -
We are individuals that are all connected via our subconscious minds to a collective unconscious.
This is the conclusion great minds like Jung and Israel Regardie came too and it feels correct to me. We can influence the collective unconscious via our individual subconscious belief systems. But it reminds me that all of this new age and esoteric spiritual mumbo jumbo about one being playing all the parts and no individuals existing could be highly misleading.
Your thoughts are very welcome on this... I am just throwing this idea out there.
Hey! The guys keep bringing up the "collective unconscious" and I can sort of get the idea of what it means, but I'm SO intrigued by this concept!
Have they done an episode on this yet? Or anyone have a good reference I could use (preferably listen to, I've got really long drives to work).
I had the thought recently that it was interesting that Heroes of the Wheel continue existing in Tel'aran'rhiod until they incarnate in the waking world again. According to Jung, motifs from the collective unconscious can become accessible through dreams, this includes archetypal figures that individuals are naturally predisposed towards recognising (archetypes).
Is it possible that Heroes of the Wheel exist as something similar Jungian archetypes in the collective unconscious of people in the waking world? According to this view, they would continue existing in Tel'aran'rhiod until being turned out by the Wheel into the "real world". This would explain why the World of Dreams houses them between lives and not some other spiritual dimension like a heaven or hell. Would love to hear the thoughts of some of the WoT loremasters π
I'm a bit confused on the mechanics of how the collective unconscious operates. Are the a priori components of the collective unconscious only consisted of material passed genetically (i.e. "genetic memories" which have been theorized); this material would be compounded by all experiences in ones bloodline (see quote below).
The only other method would be that human experiences can be uploaded directly into the collective unconsciousβalmost telepathically. Is that what Jung was getting at? I don't suspect so, although I find that suggestion personally more intriguing, albeit less plausible.
"In so far as no man is born totally new, but continually repeats the stage of development last reached by the species, he contains unconsciously, as an a priori datum, the entire psychic structure developed both upwards and downwards by his ancestors in the course of the ages " (The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious).
This is definitely one of my weirdest stories so far, so sit tight
Letβs begin with a quote from Volume 7.2
"The aim of individuation is nothing less than to divest the Self of the false wrappings of the persona on the one hand, and of the suggestive power of primordial images on the other". Β§269
So the identification with the Persona basically means that you lose your sense of self in a character, and you allow yourself to be completely defined by the outer world and cultural standards. You want to maintain a certain image that is dependent on the feedback of others.
It can be something simple like being completely identified with a certain position, and this notion is brought to all areas of life. So this person might act as if she was a βjudgeβ in her marriage, with her kids or friends.
It can also be something more complex like always trying to be the funny guy, like Chandler from friends, or like the carefully crafted character of Cristian Bale on American Psycho.
But what about the Primordial Images?
Thatβs where things can get darkβ¦
So before I got into Jungian Psychology I worked as a meditation teacher and Reiki Master for roughly 2 years. As soon as I got in touch with this βspiritual realmβ people started to tell me that I had these wonderful gifts and that I had to develop my mediumship skills.
I believed them and I started to meditate every day and do this weird training to develop my βpsychic abilitiesβ. Obviously, I started to feel dissociated, and my Unconscious was becoming so powerful I couldnβt deal with it.
Iβm not joking when I say that a few times I honestly thought I was going crazy.
Whenever Iβd ask something about my condition everyone would just say that this was part of the process and that I had to experience this βcathartic cleanseβ so my abilities would flourish.
WHAT THE FUCK? β¦ Yeah, this is a very common belief amongst the βspiritual communityβ.
So I endured the pains of becoming this βenlightened beingβ. The crazy thing is that I slowly started to change my clothes, my voice became softer and I started to act like a βguruβ.
Obviously, people were feeding this βtransformationβ and they also started to act like I had some sort of superior knowledge. And they would come to ask me for directions and I always had this voice on my head answering everything.
Masters only exist because people want to remain childish.
β[β¦] The disciple is unworthy; modestly he sits at the Masterβs feet and guards against having

I'm writing an essay on Carl Jung's collective unconscious in video games and how it affects audiences and maybe the future of storytelling in game.
I'm most likely going to refer to the Persona JRPG game series.
"Be clever. Make them do the work. Form the image in their minds. They make it, you just imply. Incept. They are drawn to the mystery. Obsessed. You set it up, they put it together. Their interpretation. And there's only one, because you give them no choice.
And they believe in it, because it's theirs now." - Alan Wake
Notice the symbols on the left
In the dialogues, Langston talks about how praising or worshipping altered items can calm them down or even control them in a limited way.Β "It's not superstitionΒ if it works." - Langston
That's why altered items in the Panopticon are placed on pedestals for anyone to "admire". To give them the attention they need and keep them calm.Β At the same time, there are rotating panels with symbols painted on them. These serve as curtains which prevent the items from getting too much attention.
This concept of drawing power fromΒ the collective unconscious is not new to Remedy. It's one of the ways Alan Wake nudges reality toΒ an outcome he needs. Using ideas which people will believe or expect and therefore accept as real. In that sense, merely presenting an idea may be enough, because the collective unconscious will come to the conclusion on it's own, and such conclusion is more likely to take hold.
Going off of the Control Artbook, in the earlier stages of development of Control, FBC relied heavily on symbols which were meant for protection - they were of the same sort you now see in the Panopticon. However, the explanation behind them isn't as elaborate as you may think. The symbols didn't work because of some connection to a mythical theme or religion, they worked because everyone believed they did. In the end, the variety of different symbols present in most places has mostly been reduced to just one.

The director as a symbol
The role of the director isn't supported just by the Board or the service weapon. It's supported by the collective unconscious of all the FBC staff. The collective unconsciousΒ sets the soft limits of what is possible and the role of the director is set up in such a way to make use of this. In this context, both previous directors can be considered example
... keep reading on reddit β‘I recently came across a video about Jung's discovery of the collective unconscious. That led me to think about someone I was once close with who had a photographic memory and the ability to lucid dream. They often shared what they saw with me. One theme I will never forget, is what this person described as "children with black eyes" in multiple dreams. They described witnessing these children doing deceptive, bad things.. like trying to push/lead a "woman who appeared to be asleep" off of the ledge of a building. They once even saw me in their dream, driving a car full of these children- which is interesting because I cannot drive. This person did not understand who these children were, or why they were seeing them in dreams.. until I did some research, and learned that Black Eyed Children are an American contemporary legend that have existed since the 1980s. Based on Jung's discovery.. is it possible that what this person saw was apart of the collective unconscious after all?
So since there are so many Avengers I really had to just decide 12, but I think I have picked the best ones I could have, of course that can be up for debate. Anyways:
of course some of these may feel like a bit of a stretch, like Thor but i think his want for familial love and his love for his people (especially after their displacement) justifies it a bit at least. the rest i feel are fairly spot on tho. what do y'all think?
For example, men are generally speaking more disagreeable, I always thought that it was encoded into the DNA and testosterone somehow. Like chickens that have been in a cage, the last 10 generations are still afraid of a shadow looking like an eagle.
Am I mixing something up maybe?
A friend and I are playing through 2, we're past Fords mind but still need to do Bob and Cassie. I was wondering since we got the last ability if there was any way to go back to the collective unconscious aside from going back to the motherlobe which apparently you can't go back to until after you beat the game
I need help to find out part from Jungs book in in which he writes about the collective unconscious as an entity. Something like this, "you who know everything, you who have lived so many lives", etc.
I'm currently in Greece which is being ravaged by wildfires. So is Turkey. Floods in Germany and China as well as other places. Canada was fried a few weeks ago due to extreme heat. The coronavirus has blown a huge hole to our civilisation's Ego. Different sections of society are clashing e.g. Vax vs. Anti-vax, women vs men, lgbtq vs straight. Everything seems to be happening at the same time and intensifying as time goes on.
It is horrible, and for some reason it feels Epic. It feels like a test. I can't shake the feeling that it is scripted. I feel like our collective psyche is telling us "get yourselves sorted or get fucked".
Anybody else feel that way?
